After trying to call Natasha another 10000x and speaking with her incompetent admins, we ended up calling the state government directly to sort it out (and yes....it ended up being Natasha placing the wrong amount for one of the line items) Another note, by the time we finally reached her (after using a new number and name so that she'd actually call us back), she said she made no mistakes, would talk to the state government, and call us back......We still haven't heard from her. I have NO IDEA why this place has high ratings, but please save yourself from extra stress and avoid this place. They're absolutely unprofessional and do not care about their customers.

This year there were various issues that needed to be addressed regarding the final taxes sent into the IRS. I made an appt to meet with Mr. Peterson to discuss the various issues. We discussed the first issue that went back to the 2016 taxes and his answer was that he would write a letter and charge me $125. I will say that I was very infuriated by that response and it was insulting. (I can write a professional letter myself without the $125 charge.) Until the above 2016 tax issue was resolved the remaining 2017 tax issues could not be addressed. The second issue was when I called the IRS they had no record of my taxes being sent in electronically. I called Mr. Peterson and made him aware that the IRS has no record of the electronically filed taxes and that I needed a copy with the confirmation number. He briefly spoke to me then "slammed" the phone down hanging up on me. PROFESSIONALISM AT ITS VERY WORST!!! The third issue is they had no record of my refund because they had no record of the electronically filed taxes. Although, interestingly enough I was being charged for not having insurance due to Obamacare. I wrote letters and placed numerous calls to the IRS to straighten out this mess. I had the pleasure of dealing with some very professional people at the IRS. In fact, the IRS wanted to know who my CPA was as there was no excuse for this situation. I gave the IRS all of Peterson CPA Firms information both in writing and verbally. I handled every one of these issues with the IRS and got it all resolved with in a couple of months. This is a prime example where Peterson CPA Firm should have followed thru on all issues as Mr. Peterson was the CPA of record for preparing my taxes. An additional item I would like to mention is that I donate every year to the Salvation Army, the V.A. of Houston as well as the women's and men's homeless shelters. I try to do my part as I am very fortunate and would like to give others a helping hand. No matter what my donatons were for the year to these organizations Mr. Peterson would always slash the cost extensively. Mr. Peterson says it is based on the IRS guidelines for Goodwill. Goodwill would not even except the items of donation. Especially, after Tropical Storm Harvey. i.e. (used) dining room table w/8 chairs, refrigerator, freezer, 2 chandeliers, & numerous boxes of clothing. (new) $1,500 worth of brand new items to help those who lost so much during Harvey. Unfortunately, I do not donate garbage. I donate quality used items as well as brand new items. However, over the past 5-10 years as he has scaled his business, the level of service has declined (first, a few minor mishaps here and there or things overlooked on my tax returns as I dealt with new, my guess, seasonal workers who never really took the time to know me or my finances beyond quick conversations). I saw less and less of him and more of other random employees handling my taxes. (It's fine, I guess. I'm not a millionaire, so perhaps he has bigger clients to tent to?!) His personal touch and friendly face was always a source of comfort during what could be an otherwise stressful time: tax season. The major issue I have -which has led to my final decision to take my business elsewhere- is with the front office staff which was at one time run by nice, friendly women but have now been replaced by Michael's wife "Ledy". She is rude and lacks basic customer service. Most of all, given that a large portion of Mr. Rose's clients are African American, she could use a course on "cultural competency" and learning how to speak to black folks versus talking down to them or like she is above them! I would conjecture that the frequent turnover in office staff is due to her poor management "style" and lack of respect. Since I am so rarely impressed by a business, it becomes easy to focus on the negatives. To counteract this, when things go well, I am attempting to make it a point to say so. Hence this review. I recently worked with Lone Star Tax Advisors to protest property taxes at two homes in Houston (my main residence and a rental property). My experience with Lone Star was excellent. Here's why: - Fees - The service fees that Lone Star offered were based on a percentage of any property tax savings they were able to negotiate. Their percentage was substantially less than what I had seen from their competitors. This saved me significant amounts of money. - Efficiency - Only a single, brief phone call was required. They never contacted me for any additional information. Within a few months, I had received comprehensive reports from them detailing the property tax hearings and the results. It was extremely easy and required almost no work on my part whatsoever. - Results - Lone Star was able to reduce the appraised taxable value on my main residence by a substantial percentage. This will save me significant money, both at tax time this year and in years ahead. I was very surprised (pleasantly) at the reduction they were able to achieve. The results were excellent and made me wish I had signed up with them years ago. - Honesty - They were not able to negotiate a reduction in the taxable value of my rental property. They stated this clearly in their report, and they explained why. I appreciated their professional opinion on the matter and agree with it. Furthermore, there are no service fees to be paid when no tax reduction is achieved. At no cost to me, this process gave me confidence that my rental house property taxes were fair. - Payment System - After receiving the reports, I used their online payment system to settle my bill. Very easy and straight forward. Within minutes it was all taken care of. I am very pleased with Lone Star Tax Advisors. I plan to continue working with them in the future and I have been recommending them to my friends and coworkers as well.
