I haven't been to college since graduating 20 years ago and visiting college campuses isn't usually what I normally do on vacation, but I had some time on Thursday and Friday in late October 2022, so I ended up walking and reminiscing of my own college days rushing to class after class and people watching while playing Pokémon Go. The college campus in downtown Des Moines is rather small, comparative to other larger campuses nationwide. I spent about 2 hours wandering around campus and it was rather enjoyable, especially when people were bundled up because it was cold enough for those on campus to do so. The experience reminded me that if I wanted to go back for another advanced degree, I have the means to get it, just need financial and time commitment lol With that said, my time here at my own self directed Drake University campus tour was educational and yet powerful too. I enjoyed the different architectural differences that college buildings do have comparably to the community surrounding the campus perimeter. It's interesting that it is different. I ended up walking the inside areas including the admissions building and then circling outside the perimeter to access other areas of the campus. It was a nice walk and glad to have gotten it in both days while I was there. It was cool to see student leaders giving campus tours to incoming freshmen when I was there. Reminds me of what campus life was and still is in the general sense of college living. The overall experience here at Drake University - Des Moines, IA was casual, quiet, and definitely a nice time to unwind and decompress during my vacation in the Midwest. I particularly enjoyed the quietness of the campus, even though it was during the work week and before 10am on both days I cruised through the campus. It was nice just to be there and not have campus security question me. Lol I guess as long as you're not suspicious or doing anything wrong, you should be okay. For the most part though, the time spent here really helped me for my mental and physical health, especially when life and other things can be at a crossroads. Coming to a college campus helps to rekindle that lost experience that I needed to unwind and reconnect my former youth. The campus of Drake University is well maintained by the good folks in the maintenance department of the university. It's a place you'd want to go to, if you're looking for a place of higher learning in the Midwest and want to live in Des Moines, IA. The school has much to offer prospective students and teachers who wish to pursue their futures here. The campus is beautiful and lucky to have been here and visited. If you are in the area and want something to do, consider coming to the Drake University campus to take a look. Definitely a place I don't mind coming back, if future travels permit me to do so. The main campus of Drake University is located at 2507 University Avenue here in Des Moines, IA. As a mid sized learning institution in the Midwest USA, they take pride in accepting those who want to further their academic futures and to pursue academic degrees offered here at Drake University. As with many colleges and universities, they impose tuition per term and offer financial assistance for those who qualify. Not sure if they accept credit card payments for tuition, but never hurts to ask ahead of time if you're interested in getting ahead and enrolling. The ambiance during my fall walk on campus was a delightful one. Really enjoyed my experience here and a good flashback to my college days, even though I didn't go to school here at Drake University. It helps keep the youth alive in all of us and reminds us that life is a journey and school / learning is a big part of it. If you're in the area, consider the campus tour. So I got some history here. The campus is the perfect mix of classic retro college and modern. They have beautiful old buildings and really rad newer ones! The ground are beautifully manicured and I love how the school sits right in the middle of town. With plenty of entertainment, food, and beverage all within walking distance of the classes and dorms. They have beautiful theaters and jazz performance spaces, and the classrooms I have been in are really nice as well. Both large and small! I really dig Drake and glad it's here in town!

I can't believe no one has rated Urban DMACC yet!…read more I love this school and am so grateful for all of the experiences I have had here thus far. Long Beach City College is my only basis for comparison, but between the two, DMACC wins out in every respect. Parking is a breeze - permits never expire and I've had no trouble ever finding a super good spot, every time I've ever had to come to campus. Compare that to LBCCs parking situation (nightmare) and you really can't complain at all. I have genuinely liked and respected all of my instructors. All of them have been some combination of at least two of the following: smart, interesting, fair, attentive, invested in the success of students. That says a lot. All of the academic advisory staff is so so so helpful. Admissions and financial aid are easy, and the staff patient and helpful if you get stuck. The SAC does awesome stuff like give out free donuts and coffee on the first day of the semester. It's just all-around a friendly, nice campus.

Urban Campus is unique in the diversity of the students. All countries, beliefs, ages, economic backgrounds are represented here. One of the advisors said, "At Urban Campus we just want you to be yourself." During the day, there is a great mix of younger and non-traditional students. I was alone at my age at the West Campus during the day. There are a lot of activities to join and it's a very dynamic vibe. Academically I'm as challenged at DMACC as I was at previous academic institutions. The professors are vibrant, engaged (and engaging), and they want every student to excel. I was amazed at the high caliber of learning. It's a great price, too! The best education for the best price in Iowa! Head to DMACC! Save money, meet great people, and get a great education!

The people who run the building are fantastic and it's facilities are state of the art! The lobby reception area has a wonderful space for party's, meetings, or as I saw last night Art shows! The class rooms are not to big but a comfortable size and it's all set in a beautiful location, between the downtown library and the sculpture park! Can't beat that!

Drake hosts many speakers throughout the year and many of them are free to the community. Drake has a a spectacular MBA and MPA program and they also offer an Ed.D. Program too. Drake has a fraternity and sorority system plus a great dorm and apartment system. They have a very supportive alumni and the generously donate to the school so they can continue to add to the university. So proud to have this school in our community! I am proud to have an advanced degree from this establishment as well!
