Do not use this company. We had begun working with them beginning in October to put in a new deck and two screened in porches. Originally the groundbreaking was to begin in January. Then it got moved to May. Now it is March and they tell me they no longer do decks and screened in porches. So after losing all this time I will need to start the process with another company. They are completely unprofessional and I highly recommend you look elsewhere. read more

You are entitled to your opinion and that is what Yelp is for, however, don't go around flagging reviews you don't agree with, especially from people you don't even know. Kyle has spent years building a successful business up via word of mouth. It's disappointing you had a less pleasurable experience, however, don't take it out on those that want to share their HONEST, positive experiences like me. Now ... onto my review, again. Kyle and SHS were an absolute pleasure to work with. I received recommendation to use SHS from a friend who completed a large gut rehab job with them and was thrilled with the results. Kyle took the time to meet with me and my wife prior to purchasing our home and outlined the necessary work to turn it into our dream home. The construction process went well. As to be expected with any rehab job, we encountered surprises along the way - termite damage on floor joists, rotted trim, and other odds and ends. Kyle was exceptional to work with through these hurdles and ultimately we came in ahead of schedule and on budget. Kyle kept an even head, great attitude, and was totally fair throughout the whole process. Kyle and his crew just completed my kitchen renovation and I am very happy with the results! While the project took longer than originally quoted, it was still within a reasonable amount of time for a complete kitchen gut. Most importantly, the quote I was given was what I paid with just a few things that I requested added. Kyle was always quick to respond to any requests I had and all items I asked to have fixed or changed were done quickly. His crew were all very polite and easy to work with. This response is hilarious: Clearly he has a guilty conscious, and business is not going so well. I hate that his late wife is no longer with us; however, Kyle is a disgusting person, and a shady "business man" who does shoddy work. I recently had someone reach out to me on yelp that stated he had to spend tens of thousands of dollars redoing and correcting work that Kyle messed up: I have the e-mail from the individual in case Kyle wants to attempt to say I am fabricating that. How does someone steal money that is not owed to that individual? After receiving a draw from my lender, I held off on paying Kyle his invoiced amount, as it was not only erroneous, but certain things he listed had not been done, and other items were incomplete. He submitted invoices for more money than he was owed, to try to float himself during the project, as he did not have the proper liquidity to see the project through. He often called my lender behind my back requesting funds in advances, and asking about my budget. I terminated Kyle's services for he and his crew missing numerous days without explanation, having a bad attitude, storing items for other projects in my house, doing terrible work, and most importantly, being grossly behind schedule, which is when he, the very next day, filed a mechanics lien on my house for almost $60k, which was not owed to him. Since he mentioned records, the record will show that amount as a lien, yet here he states $44k, so there should have never been a request for that much money. Several times, I asked Kyle and his attorney to discuss this to come to a resolution, which Kyle never replied to e-mails or text messages, and refused to discuss the terms of what was owed. He intentionally filed this bogus and false lien on my property, knowing that the loose laws surrounding the construction industry would be in his favor, and knew that my lender would not allow me to request any more draws on the house while there was a lien on the property, per the terms of the agreement which would prevent me from finishing the home. He refused to release the lien and take the amount that was legitimately owed to him, and the house went into foreclosure after 90 days, where he "conveniently" purchased the home, finished it very quickly, and sold it for a nice profit. Please don't fall for his pity story, he is no victim. I almost begged him and his attorney to settle this in a civil way, but he had his motive the entire time of letting the home go onto foreclosure, and finishing it for himself to do exactly what he did. This caused me a huge financial detriment, and while I won't go into details, took me years to recover from, and caused great embarrassment and emotional distress. This was my first project, and he ruined my aspirations of being a real-estate investor. Kyle gave me the "I am a Christian" speech the first time I met him, which should have been a red flag that he was a wolf in sheep clothing. Even the lender and the wholesaler, in which I purchased the property from, mentioned that they would not do business with him or recommend him to anyone. Kyle made about $80k off stealing this property from me, so I don't know what he is whining about. I'm sure after seeing this review, several people have decided not to do business with him, which is hurting his ego. This guy is a con artist, and was even cheating on his dying wife. I had to pay my lender off, without having a finished property, and that took me a very long time to do so. He also stiffed a lot of unqualified subcontractors, that he found off craigslist, which explains why a lot of the work was extremely poor. Trust me, if I had done anything illegal, Kyle and the lender both would have come after me in court, and there are no court records of either of them suing me, because it never happened. This was extremely stressful and embarrassing for me, and I have never felt as helpless and taken advantage of, as I did in this situation. He mentioned that this was theft of service and a felony, which If I had really did that, he would not have had any trouble fighting it. This idiot is a liar, and I have documentation to prove everything. Please do not do business with this greedy con man. He is money hungry, and an inexperienced contractor that will leave your property in ruins. Yes, God knows the truth, and so does he. The audacity of him to mention God when he is lying is very scary, and lets me know exactly how evil he really is. He did not show me any mercy, and left me destitute, and I don't think God will show him any mercy either. Here we are 4 years later, and he is still harassing me over this review. Sounds like people are catching on, and as I mentioned, one guy recently contacted me, distraught about Kyle destroying his property, and is analyzing his legal options. I have worked with Kyle and his crew through two very large-scale home renovations in the past 5 years. In both cases we had complete kitchen guts & remodels, moved walls, made significant floorplan changes, added new bathrooms, and installed new flooring/windows/lighting/systems, etc. In our most recent house we also added access to and finished out our basement, plus did a lot of beautiful built-ins and detail trim work throughout the home. Kyle has also done a lot of work on our three rental homes, everything from small repairs to large-scale system upgrades. I cannot say enough great things about Kyle and his team. They are experienced, knowledgeable, talented, and a general pleasure to work with. As a former architect, I have dealt with a lot of contractors in my time and Kyle is by far the best of the bunch. He is honest and always strives to do right by his clients. He is also very fairly priced - we always get multiple quotes for everything we have done, and he consistently has the best price. The only hiccup in 5 years of working with Kyle was with his (former) granite installer, who messed up and cut the slab incorrectly and then refused to accept responsibility for his mistake. This was a very expensive piece of granite, and without batting an eye Kyle handled it, ate the cost of the granite and had it redone to our specifications immediately. Needless to say, we were extremely impressed with how Kyle handled this and very appreciative that he was willing to step up and make it right. I am now a Realtor and have referred him out to numerous clients over the years, for everything from a kitchen remodel to adding an entire second story to a home, and every client that has used him has reported back the same thing: great prices, great attitude, and great work. He also did a bathroom remodel for my mother, who is extremely picky and demands a very high level of detail - the bathroom turned out beautifully and my mom cannot stop raving about Kyle and what a pleasure he was to work with! I have worked with Kyle and his crew for over 6 years. He is the only contractor I call when I have a home remodeling project or repair. He has done bathroom remodels, roofing, outside and inside painting, carpet, installed a deck and much more in my homes. I am actually in que right now to have him install a sun room for me and I can't wait. He is 100% honest and reliable. His prices ALWAYS beat the competitors. He has a dedicated crew so I trust to have them in my home. If he can't do something (which is rare) he will refer to me to someone who can and his referrals are also always the absolute best. He always gives me excellent advice and if there is a better way to go, that will save me money, he will tell me. If it's not broke, he will not fix it. He is honest and will never mislead you. And of course they do an excellent job! If his crew is busy, I will wait for him to become available before I go anywhere else. I can not say enough good things about him and his company. My home that he helped me fix up to sell during the recession sold in 1 day, and with the reasonable prices he charged, I came out ahead! Call him, you will not go wrong! PS. I just read the negative review and would like to add that I also can also provide documentation and show pictures of all the projects Kyle has done for me over the years. We have engaged Sensible Home Solutions for two different major projects on our home, one in 2013 and one in 2014, and one minor project in 2012. For each project we have been extremely satisfied with the quality of the work, the reasonable cost, the prompt time frame in which the projects were handled / completed, the friendliness and honesty of the workers, their care of our home, yard and plants while completing very major work both outside and inside our home. They kept disruptions to a minimum and were great at communicating with us. Kyle and his team were always responsive to questions, suggestions and our point of view. They made excellent suggestions that provided great results and saved money in the long run. They also use reliable and honest subcontractors who provide good service and stand behind their work and the finished product.
