Coming from California, I was looking for a outdoor experience. Drakes was the best!! Hooked me up with a beautiful electric bike, helmet, charger and a Map. I rented it for 24 hours and rode (got lost) on the best trail (Poudre river trail). Amazing clean trail, very friendly riders (not like Cali) clean signs everywhere and shade to take a break. Walked into an empty store , no other customers, employee walked out of the back and asked if he could help. Explained that the seat shock was collapsing, employee said the part would have to be replaced and they would have to order it. Inquired whether air could just be added to the shock and the employee reported it was oil only. Employee uninterested in setting up any further services or appointments to aide. Went to Brave New Wheel, these guys were super nice, immediately checked out the bike, knew exactly what I was saying with air in the shock, added air, checked out my other shocks, offered additional maintenance and new grips. Do not recommend Drake Cycles but absolutely recommend Brave New Wheels!!! read more

What an awesome store...service is amazing and extremely honest and fair. I brought my Trek road bike to another store to fix my brakes and repair a valve stem. They didn't have time after looking at my bike to do my brakes...they said I needed to bleed my disk breaks and had to schedule a repair 10 days out. Cost $80. They returned my bike without repairing the valve stem. I brought my bike to Drake...took it in right away, but did say it would take 10 days, but finished in 6 days. Cost for both repairs $14. My brakes did not need to be bled, just adjusted. This is truly the type of company that understand fairness, quality and customer service. Will not go anywhere else! read more

I just had the pleasure of meeting Joe at Drake Cyclery and I was very impressed. Yesterday I purchased two tubes there and today used one to fix a flat. When I tried to inflate my newly fixed flat, the tire would not inflate. I tried multiple pumps and assumed the tube was deceptive. I brought both tubes back this morning, and explained my dilemma to Joe. He tried inflating the tube and showed me where I had pinched it. How embarrassing! Rather than make me feel stupid, Joe grabbed a wheel and showed me how to replace the tube and tire without using tire levers, and he also gave me a replacement tube without charging me. I'm fairly new in town and haven't had a"go to" bike shop, but I do now! read more

The shittiest place on earth! I got a bike from them and they told me to take it back for a tuneup within a month. I walk in and they say "oh you need to have a schedule and we're 3 weeks out". I told him that nobody ever told me that I'd need a schedule but the guy was very unapologetic and didn't even care. Had some minor tune-up work done on my mountain bike at Drake's. I waited 2 1/2 weeks for the work to be done. Since it was there I bought new tires and tubes. Paid a premium price without flinching. On the 3rd ride, the stem blew out of the tube...in 40 years of biking, I have never seen a stem blow out of the tube. The other stem is incorrectly installed. I was hustled in and hustled out so their staff could continuing talking bicycles among themselves. I don't mind the hustling if the work is done right. It wasn't. I've had good experiences at Drake Cyclery. They seem like they are always open and friendly. Many of todays bike shops just want to sell a new bike. I've found Drake different, they seem like they're in it for the long run. I wouldn't think twice about purchasing a new or used bike here. They seem to care! Oh....... and as a Vintage French bike fan, these guys seem to understand us French Bike nuts. They know there is a big difference between a new bike from Asia and a 20th century masterpiece with funny parts that don't interchange with the other bikes of the world. If you don't know someone in the bicycle biz in Fort Collins already, give Drake Cyclery a shot, I'm glad I did!! read more

Took a bike I'd just bought in for a service and at first things looked fine. Found out shortly after I went back to pick it up that they'd missed a pretty major item that was going to cost me about $100 to fix (they quoted twice that, but that's a different issue). I pointed out the issue NOT asking for any kind of credit, in the end it's my bike and I'm responsible for fixing it up, and the person running the shop proceeded to step very much into my personal space (not appropriate when you're dealing with anyone never mind a woman considerably shorter and lighter than you) and he proceeded to inform me that he 'wasn't interested' and 'didn't appreciate' that kind of feedback. Obviously never going back there, and I'd strongly recommend against it for anyone else, either. read more

New bikes straight off of their sales racks is a super advantage when renting a bicycle. The owner made sure we had the appropriate size bikes along with helmets and locks. He then sent us off with directions to catch the local trail system. Great service and friendly staff. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next day for another day. Walked into this shop to see if they had a specific style bike I wanted. When I didn't see it at first I figured I would be out of luck... Instead these guys took the time to ask what I was interested and helped me put together some amazing options and combos. Went back the next day and rolled out with a one of a kind custom bike without breaking the bank! Got a new bike for the first time in a long time recently from Drake's. They were pretty helpful and offered some free servicing after a month and a year when I got my bike. They also will swap out different colors of frame or wheel on the Pure Fix cycles for free and can get any colors in for you. Glad I decided to go with Drake's. read more

Was pumped to find close convenient and friendly bike shop for my family of 5 with bikes. Happy to pay full price for service of my sons bike and was glad to take advice on a thicker tube and a silicon additive for puncture protection. Tube went flat from what appeared to be a faulty valve stem seal. Went back looking for advice and a remedy. I was clearly viewed as a hassle and the owner reluctantly threw me a new tube and impatiently shooed me out the door with no silicon, no advice, and definitely no desire to come back for service. I will be hauling our bikes back to Lee's for service and upgrades. read more

I have had my bike serviced at Drake Cyclery numerous times over the last several years and have always been extremely satisfied and happy to support a small local bike shop. However yesterday's experience may have been my last. We dropped 2 bikes off for full tune ups and were told that they would likely be done in a few hours. We left a cell phone number and asked to be called when they were done so that we could return and pick them up. After 4 hours of running several errands without hearing from them, we circled back to check on the status to find a note on the door that they were out for lunch. No problem. There was only one guy working, everyone should get a lunch break, and he did leave a phone number to call. We decided to head home and wait for the call to come back and pick them up, when we saw both bikes OUTSIDE the shop hanging UNSECURED on a bike rack!!! They appeared to be done, so I contemplated putting them in my car (before someone else did!!) and calling the number to let them know - but then decided to call the number on the door first. So we walked around to the sign to call. As I was dialing, the guy we'd talked to earlier came around the corner from Maya Cove and said, he'd open the door. That our bikes were done. I expressed my concern that yes, we figured as much and that we had seen them left OUTSIDE the shop, UNSECURED and UNATTENDED. He dismissed my concern saying that he had asked "the girls around the corner to keep an eye on them". Not sure what "girls" that would be as there was no one around the bike rack, so this did little to ease my concern. We paid for the tune ups, loaded the bikes and left. We were told that I may need new brake pads on my bike, and that is likely true - but whereas in the past I would bring it back down for that, it is unlikely I'll do that now. In the past they always brought my bike out from the back when it was done. But if they are now keeping them outside, unsecured, and unattended - I'm no longer comfortable leaving my bike there. Bike theft is just too common in this town for that!! read more

too bad theres not 0 stars.. i have never been treated like so much crap in my life.went in to the store.. i was the first one in and they told me to wait a few minutes.. ok no problem.. 2 other people walk in.. they help them immediatly, while i wait about 10 minutes. dont know why i hung around.. should have left right then. took my bike in to get a FULL TUNE, couple days later my back tire was completley flat.. the back tire was good when i took it in.. i should also mention that i did not even ride the bike since it was tuned.. called the guys up to let em know that my tire was flat, and i havent even rode it yet, and they told me they couldnt do anything about it.... unless i paid again.. i said i was just in there for a FULL TUNE and the back tire was not flat.. needless to say, there is ZERO customer service in the place. You would think, for some stoners running a business, they would be a little more friendsly.. well, not so much. i will never use or recommend this business to anyone, EVER. read more
