Got here around 6 Friday night and it was quiet but within a few minutes it got busy. (30 minutes wait for food) You order at the counter and when I asked what is recommended? Answer- the Bofsandwich (award winning) or the Flaeskestegsaandwich (Pork-the Classic). I decided on award winning. Ordered with gravy on the side & no fries cause the nice lady at the counter mentioned it's a hearty sandwich. Paired it with a Vulcano Classic (dark) which was pretty good. The interior of the restaurant isn't very big/is cozy and has a fun vibe/rustic feel with pig statues, pictures, random Polaroid pics and various memorabilia & books used for decoration. Now for the sandwich. It is huge! The beef was cooked a perfect medium & was topped with a relish and fried onions & there was a beet relish (takes it to another level!) on the bottom & the bread had baked in-house qualities. The gravy was tasty and great for dipping & you will need a fork & knife. Open only 4.5 hours a day so business must be great. Classic Danish sandwich and comfort food with great service!

Grisen just went all in and looted your grandmother's country house, displaying one absurd item after the other. Being a bit of a hoarder myself I can't help being very much in awe of this place. Fantastic! We ordered the flæskestegssandwich, bøfsandwich+egg and fries with mayo. The service was super friendly and the food came out in no time. I experienced instant regret when I saw my bf's sauce glazed bøfsandwich come out of the kitchen. Alas, I had committed to the flæskestegssandwich and unfortunately found it just OK. It had good size, the pork was tender, but without much flavour and the red cabbage was too sweet for my taste. But I'm happy that Denmark is finally embracing the brioche type of bun and this one was delightful. The fries were crispy and the homemade mayo I could eat with a spoon if nobody was watching. The bøfsandwich received much praise from my companion, so I will definitely come back again to try that one. At some point my bf happily exclaimed: "Ah, I feel like I'm in America!", meant to be taken as a compliment. I would recommend everyone to come here if only to enjoy the atmosphere and marvel at the riches.

But when I spotted "Korean spicy deepfry chicken" on the menu, I was shocked. Unfortunately it was nothing like the Korean-style deep-fried chicken that I'm used to. Normally it is made with drumsticks or wings, fried twice, and coated in a spicy-sweet sauce. This was strips of chicken breast (ie. the driest part of the bird) with quite a bit of batter, some salad thrown on top as an afterthought, and some sauce on the side which was not spicy at all. On its own, the chicken 'fries' were just ok, though I needed a lot more sauce since they were so dry. The other offerings looked authentic, and obviously I had to try the kimchi. The kimchi was excellent and its addition vastly improved the chicken! The the dish I tried only garnered 3 stars, the kimchi earns one extra. I would like to come back and try some of the other items.

We ended up going through the entire street food stalls and hitting here twice. Both times we got Bulgogi. It was awesome. They make it fresh to order for you. The staff was awesome and even joked with us when we came back for seconds. The beef was super tender - marinated beef in soy sauce with ginger, garlic, onion. It served with a little salad on the same - mainly purple and white cabbage and good properly steamed rice. They also make really good homemade kimchi. Plus its all organic? Triple Win! Dont forget to add the typical homemade Korean Hot Sauce - its actually not really hot, more sweet unhot chili paste thats like a sauce and goes amazing with the beef and rice. Only 80 Kr for a good portion. Go, eat Bulgogi and get a side of kimchi. Yup, this is one of my all-time favorite restaurants in Copenhagen!…read more I will try to keep this short and sweet, because if I start raving on, there's probably no stopping me. I've lived in New Orleans for a while, and I've been on the lookout for a place with great Southern food (House of Souls is another great address for that, btw), and I'm so, so glad that Alabama Social is here to fulfill all my cravings for hot wings, jerk chicken, and cornbread! The hot wings definitely deserve a special shout-out; as do the fries, which are just perfection, served with creole mayo. Their menu changes regularly, and they're recently started serving Po' Boy sandwiches for lunch, which I'm eager to try. Staff has always been friendly and attentive, and I'm personally a huge fan of both the location by the lakes and the interior with dark wood and open kitchen. Bottom line is, I cannot recommend this place enough, and I wish I could eat there every day (and not get fat)!

My wife's colleague suggested we try this place. Why would Americans go to an American restaurant…read morein Denmark? Because it is good. We ordered three course tasting menus, getting six different items between us: a biscuit with pulled pork and a biscuit with pulled beef for appetizers, brisket and baby back ribs for entrees along with sides that included French fries, slaw, and cornbread, chocolate and coconut sundae for dessert as well as a butterscotch pie. I also got a drink called a Harley Davidson which is their take on an old fashioned. The biscuits were smaller than a good ol American buttermilk biscuit, but stood up nicely to the pork and beef. The pork had a nice texture and a tasty Asian slaw, but there was way too much mayonnaise on top. The beef was also a nice texture but I was missing bbq sauce. The brisket entree was a small portion of tender beef topped with onions and some herbs. It wasn't quite bbq, almost more like corned beef. The ribs were charred and spicy. The overall texture and flavor was similar to Chinese spare ribs in some ways. The portion was rather generous compared to the brisket. The side dishes really stole the show. The corn bread was spot on and the accompanying sweet and spicy butter brought it to a new level. The French fries had a good texture and weren't over salted. The slaw was not mayonnaisey. It was an Asian style slaw with a light dressing. My wife asked for an extra order to go she liked it so much. Dessert was a mixed bag. The chocolate and coconut ice cream sundae was well-composed but a little gun shy on the flavors. The butterscotch pie was actually a salted caramel pie, delicious, with a buttermilk ice cream that wasn't much to my taste. Service was good and friendly. The atmosphere was approachable and unpretentious.

This was absolutely the worst meal my friends and I had during our week-long food tour of…read moreCopenhagen. Walking by Kul one evening, we were inspired to make a reservation for dinner after catching a whiff of the delicious wood fire smoke emanating from inside. A quick Google Maps search showed guest photos of grilled prawns and skewered meats akin to a Japanese Izakaya. Mouths watering, we arrived the next evening for our dinner for three.  The place was nearly empty at 8:30pm on a Friday night (that should have been a red flag), and the waitress who served us was shockingly rude. I didn't catch her name, but she had short pink hair in pigtails, and a bit of a punk rocker look going on. She seemed to take offense at our very presence, rushed us through ordering, spoke to us in a condescending tone when we asked questions, and seemed aggravated that we were ordering a la carte and not tasting menus. My friends are Chinese and Turkish, and her attitude toward them reeked of racism. There was a table of Asian tourists next to us as well receiving the same horrible service from this woman. For a mostly empty restaurant, the food took ages to come. Charcoal grilled meat does not take that long to sear! The pacing of the plates was incredibly slow and both the waitress and the busser (tall guy with a mustache) completely ignored our attempts to ask for updates. The saddest part was, after waiting over an hour for 6 small plates, the food wasn't even good. I could at least excuse the bad service if the food had been delicious!  Not a single one of the dishes had even the slightest taste of being cooked over a wood fire, the only hint of charcoal was in the various black aioli's. Everything was pan seared, fried, sous vide or poached and about as bland as could be. When we asked the waitress what dishes were actually cooked on the grill, she said everything was "finished on the grill" - an obvious lie. On top of the lack of charcoal flavor, the beef, guinea fowl and monkfish were all horribly overcooked. The beef was tough and well-done, the chicken dry as a cube of styrofoam, and the monkfish rubbery and indigestible.  The three of us shared the following six dishes, as well as a bottle of wine: - Monkfish with dashi fumet, golden spelt & sakura cress - Beef bernaise with charred tomatoes & confit potatoes - Squid in tempura with Iberico ham & black aioli - Razor clam with fermented carrots, oyster stock and dried rosemary - Guinea fowl with saffron, peas, fried sage, pickled beets & bouillon - Salmon & garlic ash with mayo, radish, crispy bread & spinach emulsion This food, with tax, came out to around 1,700 krone, or about $250 USD. And the waitress had the nerve to harass us for a tip, after her disgusting service to our table- telling my friend that tips are required for good service, and I had half a mind to tell her that's exactly why she wasn't getting one. Seriously, she should be fired. We're accustomed to the high prices of fine dining in Copenhagen, after enjoying so many world-class meals at other restaurants throughout the week, so we can confidently say this was an appalling waste of money.  Shit service. Shit food. Shit ambiance. Spend your money literally anywhere else.

We started with cocktails, which were really good but expensive, and then had the 5 course chef's pick menu. There is a wine package available, but we went for a bottle of nice riesling instead. The food was OK,but none of the courses was mind-blowing, which we would have expected for almost 500dkk / person. I can understand if some would be merely Ok, but one or two should in my opinion be superb to justify the price. Still, nice waiters and good atmosphere along with good wine and Ok food that definitely was enough to eat over 5 courses makes this place worth a visit if you aren't short on change :)
