Being unfamiliar with the pool scene in Germany I didn't know what to expect here, and I made…read moreseveral mistakes. Note: wear a swimsuit for lap swim, no swimsuit for pretty much everything else. Downstairs there's an all-shallow outdoor pool and two indoor pools. One is for kids and is all shallow, the other is the "sport" pool and has a deep end. The sport pool also has a 1m and 3m diving board. I think you have to ask the lifeguard to use the diving boards. Upstairs there's lots of sitting areas to chill (inside and out), a place to get food and drinks, four different types of sauna (two dry hot, one wet, one aromatherapy), and an outdoor pool that's heated and has bubbles and submerged chaise lounges. These are all naked. Some of the sitting areas have heat lamps. Everyone had at least one towel, most people had towel, bathrobe, even a blanket. Some people brought books to read under sunlamps. When you arrive, tell the attendant at the desk if you just want to swim or if you want to go to the sauna (upstairs) too. The prices/times are on the website. Once you decide, you get a plastic bracelet and a plastic card. The card is for your locker. Inside the locker is a black box. Insert the card there and shut the door, hard, once all your stuff is inside. Then take the blue numbered lanyard that pops off the locker door. It has a buckle so you can tie it to your wrist, ankle, whatever. What to bring: swimsuit, goggles, cap, towel for drying off, towel for sitting on, bathrobe, SHOWER SHOES, shampoo/soap, something to read if you like, water bottle, cash to buy food/drinks, large bag big/waterproof enough for all your wet stuff when you head home. The showers didn't provide soap and while the water pressure is good the stream isn't as heavy as us long haired women need. There are several hair dryers available. Overall this was a very replenishing and relaxing cultural experience. I plan on going as many nights as possible.

Very good, nice pool just up the road from the end of the Reeperbahn. In fact one of the best pools…read morefor swimming I have been to. It has four pools, one boiling one with a waterslide, dinosaurs and little hideyholes for little ones to entertain themselves. Second pool is just for nice swimming, beautiful slate floor, clean water and no kids. Third pool is the sports pool, with high boards plus competitive lane swimming Fourth pool is outside, accessed conveniently via a covered hatch from pool 2 above, with lovely warm water even on the coldest day. Modern facilities, a cafe you can go in with your cossie on and about 11 euro for a family of four for 3 hours make this a great place for a family swim.

Schrecklich. Nie wieder.

Dios mio…read more.. it was soooooo full. i went today to the freibad (outdoor pool) in kaifu, because its 5 min from where i live. entry costs 5EUR10 for one adult and you get special discounts if u have a kid or a family (2 adults and 1 kid) i got there around 12.30 and the place was already packed, and people kept on coming in till i left around 5 pm... the pool is VERY dirty. the shower is disgustingly dirty. every time i took a shower (to cool myself) i was praying not to get some fungal infection. i refrained from going into the pool. yucky Once you place your towel on the grass, make sure its in your favorite position, because its unlikely you'll get another chance to change the position or location of your towel. people were like sardines... i had some guys toes in my nose and my toes were flirting with another girl's hair. theres one kiosk that sells fries, ice cream, drinks, snacks... and the line is interminable. it takes like 15 mins to get to the till... all in all it was a good experience :P yeah i know, a lot of bad points: very crowded, dirty pool, very noisy, no private space, ... but its a pool and i assume all pools are that bad when its 36C on a saturday. ill be back, probably tomorrow :)

I've been working out at Meridian since 2006 when I moved to Hamburg. I've seen my share of gyms…read moreover the years and I have to admit, after working out at almost all of the Meridian locations, this one is most ghetto. Unfortunately, after changing jobs, the Wandsbek studio is the nearest to me. Hence I'm forced to go here if i want to get in lunchtime workouts. I prefer the Eppendorf studio as it seems to be the cleanest and City was quite good. I am sure the newer the studio, the better. Nevertheless, Wandsbek is getting on in years. Further, the crowd that works out there is not really high-end, if you know what I mean. You definitely have a different crowd in Eppendorf. One positive is that the ancient weight room in back is still great if you are really into lifting heavy weights. Although the stuff in that room is dated, it still remains far better than many of today's modern machines. You have a solid squat rack as well as shoulder press rack and the ability to go heavy. The locker rooms and showers are also getting older and it's downright ridiculous if you have a locker upstairs and have to go downstairs to shower and then back up. Total waste of time. The spa area is OK but not the best I've seen and if I ever want to hit the steam room or swim, I prefer Eppendorf. That's rare but again, somehow this location has lost its luster. If you can, make another gym your home base. If you're forced to work out here as there aren't that many options in the area, try to get away and hit the other studios when time allows.

After 15 years being a member of Meridan Spa Wandsbek its time to write my first and only report…read moreabout this facility: Its gettting worse over the time ! Nowadays its a place where mostly foreigners from southern europe or other non-german nationalities are the visitors, with all kinds of negative side effects for those who just want to do a work out. Anyway, this is probably the new trend in Germany anyhow, but in addition to that the customer service is lousy ! Most of the time Meridian Staff is present, but instead of inspecting training equipment they just walk around to show their presence and at complaints a reaction is not seen. I complained about the breach of Meridian Bylaws by some of these visitors, but ignorance is all I received as response. I tried over years to find out if there might be a reaction from the office staff, so when canceling my membership I thought to get a reaction - no reaction, Meridian is just pushing to get more new members of a specific kind instead of keeping customers. Talking to other long term members I heard the same complaints. Just because there was no better SPA around, me and my friends where forced to stay. Now its over and I strongly recommend anybody who wants to do sports: Look for any other Fitness studio elsewhere - unless you prefer a oriental flair. Paul J. wrote a review on 3/19/2013 and I fully agree to him: Meridian has become the most ghetto of all Meridians in the city of Hamburg !
