Although he was likely to win his case and the defendant had some questionable claims, I was worried that her allegations could cost my dad - especially she has been court many times in the past and knew more about the system than us. I am so grateful that Mr. Schmidt and his firm allowed us at 4pm on Friday to meet. The fee for the initial consult was very reasonable. He did the following: a) addressed my concerns about the defendant's allegations. He gave us some very good questions that would help me question the lack of evidence behind her claims. b) he gave great advice on how to move forward to ensure all the legal issues are handled correctly c) he gave recommendations on how my father could improve his knowledge of landlord rights and responsibilities in the future d) he was very good about listening to our concerns, addressing our questions, AND going above/beyond in giving us additional advice. I was impressed by his deep understanding of landlord/tenant law in central Wisconsin and how easily he could communicate it to the lay person. Never returned phone calls or emails. And the worst part is, he had the audacity to sit on a $10,000 check of mine for 6 months which he had no right to. I begged him to have my medical bills postponed, which he didn't, and all that time he sat on this check that my insurance company sent me to do just that, pay medical bills. What a terrible person to sit on my money and not tell me the check was there. I only found out because of my new attorney. He's incredibly lazy, dishonest and lacks basic knowledge when it comes to accidents. Do your homework, do not hire this firm for anything, they are useless.
