So I did. And I paid in advance, €28. When I went to collect them the two days later, it was a different man working there. He couldn't find them initially. It turned out they hadn't been repaired at all. The man told me to go off for about 20 minutes or so and he would repair them in the meantime. I decided to wait instead. He started to work on them and, while he was working on them, another customer came in for a heel repair. He stopped working on my boots and did the other customer's shoes straight away. He then finished the work on my boots. Being let down and then delayed like this was very disappointing and I will not return to this cobbler for any further repairs. Furthermore, one of the soles started to come loose a few months later.
