At the end of the day, you're better off going to your primary care physician. I went in expecting to receive medical care and guidance from a doctor, but instead, the doctor looked at me and asked me how I thought my symptoms should be treated. Excuse me? You're the doctor. You're the one who went to medical school and is supposed to know how to evaluate and treat my symptoms. I should not have to tell a medical professional how they should treat me after paying for a visit. What made the experience even worse was being told that I was feeling better when, under no circumstances, had I ever said that. I don't understand where that assumption came from or why words were being put in my mouth. As a patient, I expect a doctor to listen to what I am actually saying--not tell me what I supposedly said or how I supposedly feel. The prescription situation was another complete mess. I specifically checked to make sure my prescription was being sent to the correct pharmacy. After I was told the pharmacy information was wrong, they supposedly corrected it, only for the prescription to be sent to the wrong pharmacy again. I called back, was told it had been sent to the correct pharmacy, and still had to go through multiple hoops just to get a prescription sent where it was supposed to go. The amount of unnecessary miscommunication and runaround was ridiculous. What makes this even more frustrating is that I had already been to this same urgent care a couple of days earlier for my ear and other symptoms. During that visit, I specifically told the provider that I believed I had a sinus infection. That information was documented in my medical notes. When I returned only a few days later because my symptoms had continued, I was told that I had not previously mentioned those symptoms, despite the fact that I could clearly see they had been documented during my previous visit. So I came back only a few days later with continuing symptoms that I had already discussed with the same urgent care, only to feel like the previous conversation had essentially been disregarded. Then I was asked how I thought my symptoms should be treated. This was an unacceptable lack of professionalism and communication. I understand that doctors cannot always give patients the diagnosis or treatment they want, but that is not the issue here. The issue is being listened to, having your concerns accurately documented, and receiving competent medical guidance for the money you are paying. As someone who has gone to college, built a business, and understands what it means to provide a service to paying customers, I can tell you that if I treated my own clients this way, I would expect to lose their business immediately and have my business practices questioned. This experience is exactly why so many people are hesitant to go to the doctor in the first place. Patients should not feel like they are jumping through hoops just to be heard and receive the care they came in and paid for.

If there's a small complaint (or a couple of them), it is that you're not able to get in when you need to - it comes and goes - but I suppose that's true of any doctor's or dentist's office. Dr. Lopez is sometimes loath to refer me to a specialist even when I ask for one - they want to be the arbiter of whether it's warranted or not. On the plus side, the wait time at this office is phenomenally great usually: I've been in and out in less than an hour more often than not. This most recent visit was 45 minutes, and it included a tour of their new dental set-up. Maybe that would explain why you can't always get an appointment when you want - they actually manage their patient load in a meaningful way. They also sweeten things for patients from time to time. Last summer, they had ready meals that you can go by and pick up (register first) every Friday for a few weeks. This year, there was a 'turkey gift card' ($50) for TG. Unfortunately, it was at a specific time only, and I was not in town that day, and there was no way to get around it. Still, I'm happy enough overall that, for now, I'll continue to call this my primary care provider.

They also will send you to get a test done and then hold your test results hostage behind another doctors visit you have to pay for just for them to read off the results verbatim.
