A nurse took my vitals then a medical student quickly followed with a few questions. The resident checked me out, taking her time rather than rushing from patient to patient. She called the attending for a second opinion. Once they figured bone break, they set me up with a splint and sling in the office and told me my opinions for x-rays. Follow up was also solid. I got a call with the results of the x-ray same day and they even stayed a few minutes late so I could pick up the x-ray disc to ensure my ortho consult to have it. I'm not one to see a doctor often, but this experience showed me that not all the horror stories you hear are true...

I was never told there were pain management doctors who actually wanted to help me. My serious, chronic pain was ignored and minimized. Recently I was having life-disrupting perimenopause symptoms, and I agonized to Dr Kirschner over not sleeping, sweating through my clothes several times a night, and worsening mental health. I was ignored and not given a single piece of advice about how to get help. I had asked to go on hormone replacement therapy and I was denied. At my 1st appointment with my female rheumatologist she diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. WHY WAS DR KIRSCHNER SO INEPT THAT HE MISSED THIS CRITICAL, LIFE CHANGING DIAGNOSIS? WHY DID HE IGNORE MY 5+ YEARS OF AGONY, SUFFERING WITH NO PAIN MANAGEMENT? There is no excuse for this serious, purposeful lack of care. ZERO concern was shown for my pain. I hope this doctor suffers in pain for years, ignored, like I did.

She's very thorough asking about every aspect of my life and family history. She great at educating and advising so I always feel I know what's going on. It's obvious that she cares about her patients and staff. Too many doctors are too quick to medicate without covering all bases such as proper diet and exercise .

It…read morewas at a really awkward time because the doctor's office she was going to (Greenhouse Internist) on Mt. Airy Ave. has just closed permanently the end of Dec. 2022. Luckily, I got her medical records and I'm following her physician ( Sue Maynard) to Mt. Airy Family Practice. Mt. Airy Family Practice is located in beautiful West Mt. Airy. Not hard to find with its red awning stating the name. They're still using the safety precautions for covid. You have to ring the bell to enter. A staff member greets you at the door with a series of questions. Have had your covid shot? Exposed to covid? Out of the country? Waiting for covid results? That sort of questioning! And you must wear a mask! Once you get past this, you can enter. They were pretty efficient with the registration process, and taken in to be seen pretty quickly. My daughter has special needs and they were great and patient with her. Special thanks to the young lady that took her blood and gave her a flu shot. So sorry I didn't get her name. Sue Maynard (nurse practitioners) was great as well. Filled out the necessary paperwork that I need with no problem. The only issue is they never mentioned the $15 fee for the paperwork until I was about to leave. I do understand these fees, but please be upfront about them. So glad to be following this practice.

I was impressed that they do lab work right in the office and call also help with OBGYN needs as well. They also have an online portal where you can see lab results and message the provider about questions or request an upcoming appointment. I am also really impressed with the NP who helped me with a physical and vaccinations for school.

The treatment plan was clear and effective, and I appreciated how thoroughly everything was explained along the way. Follow-up was just as impressive, with prompt communication and real attention paid. It's rare to find an urgent care that combines professionalism, compassion, and consistency so well. I was truly blown away when they called to check in on how we were doing! At a time when bedside manner seems to be a thing of the past- this place makes good on putting patients first and doing so with care. Side note: the somewhat distracted and curt check-in experience did not detract from the overall experience. Fortunately the front desk hospitality was not our main concern.
