He apologized for taking my money and not providing the service as promised in the upgrading of my one-bedroom condominium in Detroit, Michigan. His conversation continued for me to accept his apology and that he wanted to "make It right." In exchange of his payment to me in-full, which would "making it right " he strongly implied (demanded) that I remove the negative review from Yelp and to forward an email to his business account. We discussed the following: A) Return of all of my paid items or full payment for the items. B) The return of all of my kitchen cabinet doors or full payment. I have received most of the cabinet doors through a family member. C) The return of money via Zelle (no personal check accepted) 1. 85% of my two payments ($4,164.25) 2. 100% of my 6-night hotel stay (receipts were provided) 3. 100% of the Lowe's receipt from Allen Park, MI - minus the flooring 4. The return of my items purchased from Lowe's (Harper Woods, MI) or full payment of the items which he failed to deliver to the condominium 5. Payment in full ($1,850.00) for the repairs and major cleanup of his disastrous work. As our telephone conversation continued, I shared with him that I will send a certified letter, instead of or in addition to the email. I requested his mailing address. He stated his business address is the same as the one on my "Estimate-Invoice" bill, that he provided me in the past. My reason for requesting Mr. Gregory Dale-Serrano Morris to text me his address is because I have sent several letters of complaint to him, which were returned by the United States Postal Service as "Undeliverable - Return to Sender, no forwarding address. To this date, Friday, December 10, 2021, Mr. Gregory Dale-Serrano Morris has failed to text me his mailing address. Also, he failed to Zelle the money, as promised. Additionally, there are no businesses of Mr. Gregory Dale-Serrano Morris, which are licensed, per the State of Michigan, Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. Therefore, I am of the knowledge that he is still operating as if he is licensed, bonded, and insured, which he is not! We found they provide all the benefits of a large construction company; experience, extensive knowledge and customer references but with the benefit of working with a small company. You don't have to worry about a random crew showing up to complete your job. Jim, the owner, is present at every job to ensure you're satisfied and his crew has been working with him for years (it is a family business after all). BBC has completed a variety of small to large projects for my family. My favorite project was the full restoration of a 1963 vintage camper we purchased that was in terrible shape. The interior was completely gutted and needed a lot of TLC - new flooring, side paneling, bedroom, kitchen table, counter tops, etc. The exterior was also in bad shape - requiring sanding, repairs, painting, etc. I've included before and after pictures so you can see the amazing transformation. Let's start with the positives: The owner of Detroit Build came out and looked at the job and was…read morevery helpful. The workers who came into our house were very kind and friendly. They covered all of our floors leading up to the bathroom (remodel). The completed job matches our original plan. They were able to make adjustments when things were not going according to plan. They were able to obtain all the materials we picked out. Anytime we reached out to our Project Manager he was able to respond and give us information in a timely manner. Since we don't have a garage, they were able to provide us with a trailer which held all of our materials on site. Negatives: They gutted the bathroom as planned. When they laid the floor, they never covered it with paper so they continued to remodel the bathroom walking on the newly installed floor. Seems like not a big issue, but it's winter and they were dragging in dust, snow, ice and salt onto our new black floor. All of the debris was falling onto the new floor. Due to the fact that multiple people are working on multiple jobs, mistakes were made and workers had to come back out to fix errors made. Part of why we went with Detroit Build is because they had a design team. We were still required to go out and find the materials on our own. Our assumption was they would take care of this step. While our Project Manager did get back to us, we had to reach out weekly to get updates. At the end of the project the only cleaning that was done was construction cleanup. We were disappointed to find out that they did not have a cleaning company to take care of this job. It wasn't a clean and pristine feeling that you would expect with a remodel. We had to call and get a "deep clean" on our newly remodeled bathroom.

A slight miscommunication occurred likely in the quoting stage already, where I may not have picked up on a bidet seat being installed where I wasn't expecting that to happen. But that would also explain the higher re-quote that I approved, so there's that. We came to like it anyways and are happy with it. Kevin was a great Project Manager; whenever I saw something that needed improvement, Kevin took care of it. Their Showroom in Royal Oak to pick designs / tiles etc. is definitely a plus. The job was billed exactly as quoted; if there is something I would recommend doing would be a formal, final walk-through at the end of the project. There are a few very minor things I would have wanted to at least discuss or have some advice on. Overall I'd highly recommend Detroit Build and would work with them on a future job any time.
