I have always wanted a pair of Docs, about as long as I first learned of their existence. During my current visit to Glasgow I finally got a pair! I didn't buy them from this shop because they sadly did not have them in my size, I got them from the online store instead. That being said I did spend a fair amount of time in this shop trying on boots to ensure I knew my correct size for the boots I wanted. It's a fairly small shop, but that's pretty common in Glasgow. Despite the size they have a great selection! Not just of boots, but also bags, clothes, accessories, and shoe care products. After I received my Docs in the mail I decided I wanted to get an insole before breaking them in. I checked out the prices and reviews online (for anyone wondering the mid price range Comfort Insoles have the best reviews), then went to the shop to pick them up. When I checked out the selection they had every size but mine! I figured that was just my luck, but as I turned to leave a very polite associate asked if she could help with anything. I asked about the size and they thankfully had more in stock behind the front desk, lucky me after all! When I went to purchase them I found out they were actually even cheaper than from the online store which AND they put them into an awesome reusable (free of charge) tote bag that has "LOVE MY DOCS" printed on the side! I already love it to bits. I pop in there often just to see if they have any new styles and I have always found the associates to be welcoming and ready to help. What I wanted from the Dr Martens shop and what I got were two very different things. I wanted to browse their luscious collection of boots and find the perfect pair. I wanted different colours, styles and generally a good sized collection to ogle. What I got was a shop that seems to do mostly clothes now. When did that happen? Dr Martens are shoes! SHOES! The shoes are scattered around the shop in between the clothes displays so it really doesn't seem like they have much to choose from. I looked and looked, and then looked again but I left feeling a bit frustrated with the whole experience. In addition, there was a group of about 15 teenagers sitting in a circle outside the shop. On the ground, on Sauchiehall Street, in winter. What?! I know this isn't Dr Martens fault but it was pretty weird, all the same. I guess I'm going to have to resort to online shopping for my dream boots. read more

I flipping love this shop, mainly because the 14/15 year old me would think it was hysterical that a 36 year old mother of 2 is still wearing DMs. On top of that I have now indoctrinated my oldest daughter and she was super excited to come here to choose some massively stompy shoes. The staff in here are great, helpful without being overly salesy and lovely and smiley. Making buying shoes for a small person with wonky feet a pleasant and chilled out experience. We found a pair of shoes that smudge absolutely loved and I headed to the till safe in the knowledge that whatever ridiculous amount they told me was worth it for the smile on her face. Only to be told that they had a storewide 20% discount that day and that smudge's shoes cost less than her 2 year old sister's last pair - result. I was very tempted to go and buy myself a pair too, think of all the money that I'd save but I managed to resist the temptation. Promising myself that I'd be back soon. read more

I have been a longtime Doc Martens shoe fan, and while recently on holiday in Scotland, made the effort to go to Glasgow to a Dr Martens store. It was fairly well laid out, with a reasonable selection of shoes, and a larger selection of clothing. Unfortunately the available stock did not mach the selection they had on display. I am a UK size 10, (not an uncommon size) and they did not have any of the shoes I wanted in my size. The other issue was the staff - be prepared for an attitude, and unfortunately not a good one. They were more interested in planning their social engagements than helping me buy some shoes, and I was regarded as an unwelcome intrusion. I walked in wanting to buy 3 pairs of the Dr Martens MIB (Made In Britain) shoes at over $250 a pair, but left buying nothing. I would recommend buying online. read more
