My sister lives in the 3rd District called 'Landstrasse'. Every time I visit her, I cross the Ringstrasse, Richtung West, towards the 'St. Stephen's Church'.
I noticed the Sculpture of figure of Dr. Karl Lueger, and the 'Platz' (place) is very nice. Some old stores and I believe Restaurants are on both sides of the 'Dr. Karl Lueger - Denkmal'.
Now more interesting I find close by. One can look at the old Wall which I believe surrounded Vienna 100 years, 200 years ago. (only a small partial wall)
I don't know if that rest of the wall is from the Fortifications called 'Stuben-Ring'. Please, look at it, and don't be angry if some things are not quite correct.
Last time I checked in 2014, that part of the 'Stadtmauer' was still there. You can look at it from the top, birdsview. I am not sure if steps go also down there. The wall is, or was protected by heavy plastic, or 'Kunststoff', but you can see the bricks, pretty good.
It's in the back of Dr. Karl Luegers 'Denkmal'. His face is facing east, towards the Ringstrasse.
Please, don't be angry if some statements I made here, don't quite fit, but as former Viennese, I lived for the last 50 and some years in Canada.
Enjoy, I like that piece of wall behind the 'Lueger Denkmal'. Thanks and Servus in Wien. read more
