I've had every iPhone since they were first released. I've always had covers on them, and they've always remained in flawless condition. Day before yesterday, I dropped my iPhone X (while I had no cover on it of course) and the screen cracked. I did some searching, and found Dr. Fix and their price was from about $50 to about $150 less than other places. My daughter had dropped her iPhone X in a busy parking lot. unfortunately, it was run over. I took the phone to a shop in Southgate Mall near the food court and the repair guy said they could fix the screen for $179. Dr Fix quoted me $90 for the same screen. Because Manny at Dr Fix could not guarantee the phone would work for long, he discouraged me from wasting my money. I had to agree...Manny (owner?) graciously offered to help me transfer data and set up a phone (not purchased from him) for my daughter for no charge. I had a very simple need with my cellphone - my charger cable was on the fritz and seemed like it was weeks away from dying, so I needed a new cable. Dr Fix is a relatively new store (at the time of this writing) and was really close by to where I live, and I figured since all I needed was a cable that it would be hard to screw that up. I called prior to going there and asked them if they had the required USB to micro plug cable I needed, they said yes. This store is a bit odd in that they misspelled the word Cell on their sign, so that already makes them look a little amateurish. Nonetheless, I kept an open mind and set foot in the store. I looked around at the various displays and for the life of me couldn't find my cable. I finally had to ask the guy at the counter (who wasn't doing anything other than manning the counter despite there being lots of vacant hooks on the shelves) if he had said cable, and he went and got it for me from the back. It seems odd that something as common as the charging cable for a cell charger was not out on store shelves, yet some of the things they did have on display included: - a USB to HDMI female end cable. No one will think of a cellphone repair store if they need these types of cables. They'll go to a place like Best Buy instead. - cables with a VGA female end on them. VGA guys? Really? That's a graphics standard that's been obsolete for years, not going to move too many of those. - Bejeweled phone cases. I get that these might be popular with teenage girls, but outside of that demographic you're not going to sell an awful lot of these. These folks need to be more selective about which products they put out on the shelves and which ones they leave in the back of the store. The cable itself came in an unlabeled box and was only $5, which was a good price, and I tested it out right away when I got home and it's working perfectly as I expected. Still, it would've been nice to just pick the cable from the shelf myself, pay for it, and go within less than 5 minutes. Also, why all the empty hooks on the store shelves? Dude at the counter's got lots of time to stock stuff (considering I was the only customer in the store at the time) so fill up those empty hooks. I can't speak for their repair services as I just needed the cable, but if you're willing to look past the cosmetic stuff this place seems pretty decent. I'd probably go back, but as a suggestion to the owners you'll probably bring in more business if you do some basic improvements to the look of your store. 1 more story about this place: when I paid for the cable, I asked the guy if it was $5 even, and he looked at me funny and said yes - thinking he might be mistakenly not charging me for GST. Once I got the receipt, there was 25 cents of GST listed on it, but since the guy at the counter declined to charge me for it, I guess that'll come out of the store's pockets. Meh, I tried. Can't pay GST to a store that won't take the money - and it's not like there were signs advertising a no GST sale. Not sure what's going on there, but that store is in for a rude awakening when tax time comes around if they won't start charging people for GST. read more

I looked into fixing it myself and found that the process was a bit too challenging for me.....and the parts themselves would have cost over $150. Went to Dr. Fix for touchscreen and battery issues with my iPhone 5s. I love supporting locally based business and their ratings from others were encouraging. However, I was treated with poor customer service despite clearly stating the problems I was experiencing. My 'expert' advice..."static"..."too many open apps". I assured the support person that I've never had issues with my iPhone and have tried all things but was told that "it's not really a problem". Turns out there are huge issues with iOS 9 including touchscreen and software issues (Apple diagnositcs). Dr. Fix was a complete waste of my time. I will not return. read more

Do your research and compare warranty with other repair shops. They are the cheaper than any other shop for a reason. Parts are junk and work is performed poorly. Do not make the same mistake I did. Go to a reputable shop that uses quality parts and qualified repair technicians. Their warranty is half as long as every other shop because their work won't last. read more
