Dr. med. Elke von Berg Review This is my experience. I…read morevisited Dr. med. Elke von Berg shortly after arriving in the country. I had picked up some nasty virus that warranted a visit to the clinic at the local ER. They suggested I follow up with a doctor. I also needed to get a new prescription for a medication that I had been taking for several years. I did not know what to expect from a German practice. The front desk staff was friendly and the place looked clean. Shortly after arriving I was shuffled around to several different rooms for different test. I assumed this was the standard practice for a new patient. It might be in her office, but it is not the standard in the country by any stretch of the imagination. They took a lot of blood and apparently ran every test you can possibly run. The office was extremely erratic and appeared very disorganized. Employees running every which way at the doctors command. The doctor's manner towards her own employees was very rude. Not just short and business like, but rude. The doctor was very through in explaining the blood results. I really started to feel that things were not write when I left with 8 PRESCRIPTIONS! Nothing was really wrong with me. 1 was even for a vitamin that I could have paid $2.00 for and paid an exorbitant amount at the pharmacy. The practice is set up very clever, with service clearly directed at American's. At the time she had a new billing specialist, that for a small fee would handle the US insurance paperwork. She also had a pharmacy that she directed to us that would take a vat form. She asked that I come for two more appointments. I can't even remember for what at this time. I did make the second appointment. Luckily I received the first bill before I went to the third appointment. MY TOTAL BILL FOR TWO APPOINTMENTS WAS ALMOST 3000 EURO. My insurance BC/BS only paid half of that amount. Which it telling in itself. Not to mention the overpriced prescriptions that I paid for at her suggested pharmacy. Some may say she is thorough, but that is not the truth. I took my blood results to my new doctor and he was astounded by the number of tests that she ran. He said that there were even several tests run that doctors no longer even look at. I want to mention also that I can't believe this is the first negative review, as I have run into a huge number of other community members that have had similar experiences. I tried to fight the bills, as I had no idea what she was planning on doing and the associated cost, but again, she is very clever and the first thing they do in the office is have you sign a document stating that you will pay for all services rendered. There are tons of excellent physicians in the area, just keep looking and get SEVERAL recommendations for the same doctor, before making an appointment.
