Some things about Olney eyecare; he will ALWAYS try to push the brand of contacts he likes (he gets a kickback). They always charge you for the extra tests-- they will not ask or tell you they cost more until you check out and find out that your insurance doesn't cover them. His office is always packed because they stack appointments upon appointments. Therefore, you can guarantee that you will NOT get in on time. Lastly, don't purchase your contacts or glasses through them- they jack up their prices so much!!! On to my story, my oldest had to get contacts 2 years ago. Then, at her last yearly appt, he changed her prescription to a lower %. Not a lot lower, just a minimal change, than what it previously was. He charges an extra fee everytime a prescription changes so you have to come back in again to check the "fitting" of them... (no money in the cure, am I right?!) anywho--the following month after seeing him, we moved out of state. Her school state wide vision screening was at this new school 14 days after we saw him for her appointment... she FAILED her vision screening miserably. Like, failed failed. The school literally called me and told me how bad it was. I contacted Olney eyecare ASAP and they told me so sorry her vision changed. And that was it. No trying to correct it. No refund. Nothing. Now I have a year worth of contacts that are useless and my daughter had to find a REAL eye doctor here to help fix the problem he created. I know Olney doesn't have much in choices. But, I hear Newton has a WONDERFUL optometrist!!!!

I recommend Olney Eyecare not just to people who live in Richland County but to all the people who want to have great customer service and who want to have the correct prescription for their eyes. Olney Eyecare does a great job at this and the best thing about Olney Eyecare is that they do not judge you when you walk into their building. Doctor Clark Deshon has built a team of employees that value all of your opinions and concerns and do their absolute best to get you the answer you seek. Dr. McCormick is an extremely knowledgeable and helpful optometrist. I have lived in five different…read morecities and towns in the Midwest, and I have never met an optometrist who explained things to me as Dr. McCormick does. For example, I told her that I struggle with my eyes feeling tired, and she explained what I can do for it. She also went above and beyond to check to make sure my eyes were producing tears and rule this out as a reason why my eyes were dry. In addition, Dr. McCormick explained concepts that I did not understand, and she helped me understand why people have the eye issues that they do. For instance, she explained astigmatism to me, and I've never had an optometrist take the time to explain things to me like Dr. McCormick. Lastly, Dr. McCormick can answer any questions you may have. Not only is she knowledgeable, but she reads the latest research and implements it in her practice. She also uses the latest technology to learn about as much as your eyes as she can. I am so glad I went, and to Dr. Gordon in particular. His staff is very friendly and professional! As a "medical wimp," the staff was very patient with me and even showed me what would happen before they performed some of the procedures on me. Dr. Gordon had a wonderful and down-to-earth personality (not to mention a great source of humor!) that immediately put me at ease, made me feel like a genuinely valued person, and helped me understand with utmost clarity the findings of the exam. The waiting room was also comfortable and included a TV and several of the books Dr. Gordon has authored. There is also a laboratory with many styles of frames to choose from on-site. I was really needing glasses my eyes have became terrible I go in they say that they are surprised…read morethat my insurance usually doesn't pay for them every two years but they were going to that I had that option just for the lenses so I picked out some frames that I liked and when I went to go pick them up I didn't like how they looked on me even after I picked them out I just wasn't happy with them I didn't want to have to wear them until I was up for another pair of glasses so I let them know that telling them I wasn't trying to be a pain but I wasn't happy with them so then she proceeds to tell me that she did not tell me that my insurance would pay for that that I was not up for eligibility for it like I lied or something she said the two-year thing was for people under 19 years old how would I have even known about the two-year thing unless she had told me when she said she didn't so now I asked for a refund and she said she can't give me my whole refund she shorted me $40 I'm on assistance she knows this because of my insurance and she took me for $40 I asked about another pair of glasses she said I have to pay for the other ones first before if a patient wasn't happy with the service they would still take care of you somehow to make you happy nowadays they don't and this is a perfect example
