This building is mostly offices. There's not a lot to see inside except for the gift shop, a small…read moretheater, and maps on the wall of the Lewis and Clark trail. They have also the unigrids (brochures) that you can find in each of the National Parks. The gift shop has nice items like badges, magnets, shirts, caps, books, national parks passports, animal/insect figures, stuffed toys, pens, etc. The rangers were very nice and answered questions well. They can allow you to see the 25-minute video about the Lewis and Clark expedition which was very informative. You can access the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge at the back from here where you can find the Nebraska/Iowa state line.

This is a pretty large visitor's center! It's pretty roomy, with multiple scattered displays about…read morethe area, Lewis and Clark's travels, and artifacts. There's a film that you can request to play (although it feels like it needs updating from the video quality), as well as a gift shop. Near the bathrooms is a whole display of NPS brochures about nearby NPS sites. In the back of the center is a well maintained garden with native plants and informational displays. The path is pea gravel so it is well draining. From there you can walk along the river, or walk on the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.

If you're in more of a mood for a fancy night out, Benson has what you're looking for too. Eat a high class meal at Au Courant, have some wine or craft beers at Krug Park, and end the night with a high end cigar at Jake's! Benson has great food that won't break the bank, too, though - not to worry! Grab a bite at Burrito Envy, enjoy some sushi at Yoshitomo, pick up a slice of pizza at Virtuoso, or have the best breakfast ever at Jojo's Diner. There are also a few breweries right in Benson as well, which is super cool - we are very lucky to have them! Infusion is always brewing up something special, along with their standard list of beers they always have (Vanilla Bean Blonde!) Benson Brewery has a great list of their own brews as well, along with super tasty food, to boot! If entertainment is what you're on the search for, there is no shortage of it in Benson. Catch comedy shows, bands/artists, and even Omaha professional wrestling at The Waiting Room. Bring your quarters and play the day away at Beercade. Catch a show or performance at Reverb or The Sydney. There are too many fun things to do, see, eat, drink, and experience to even list half of them here - there is so much to do in Benson! I highly recommend this little neighborhood full of excitement and entertainment.

Plus some good thrifts stores, galleries and boutiques. An extra bonus is that it has a spot behind pet shop gallery where you can recycle your glass! They always put on "benson first Friday" which is always the first Friday of each month where they showcase local and visiting artists with drink and food specials. Omaha is home to many hip neighborhoods but if you're looking for a good time and to be entertained for hours benson is probably the best for it!

Having never lived in Dundee, this review is primarily based on the business district. The main…read morestreet, Underwood Ave, is just a few blocks north of Dodge. To get there you will drive past a number of magnicent homes that date back 100 years. The first thing you'll notice as you approach Dundee from the west on Underwood is that the business district starts on 51st street and stretches a couple of blocks. This is an extremely walkable area with several bars and restaurants on the street so park the car and take a walk. This is easily one of my favorite streets in the city and it's great for a night out. You can park, grab a bite at one of the many great restaurants (Mark's for example), get a drink or two (might I recomend the Dundee Dell), get some ice cream (eCreamery is just steps away). If you want to get a cup of cofee, walk five blocks to the south on 50th street for Dunde Double Shot Coffee. From there, its just a few more steps to the east to catch a flick at the restored Dundee Theatre. Now that we've got that out of the way, I will say, I've always wanted to live in Dundee. We toured several houses and made a few unsuccesful offers on a few. Just keep in mind that competition is intense in Dundee as it may be the most desirable neighborhood in the city. So if this where you want to live, be prepared!

There's a diverse group of people who live here as well -- from college kids in run down apartments to seniors in government housing to families dwelling in the many well-kept large brick homes. My suggestion: Take a walk on 51st Street towards Underwood Avenue, hit up Le Quartier for a snack and then head to A.B.'s for a soda. Swing back towards your destination along 50th Street and just enjoy the serene beauty of Dundee in any season.

Gorgeous and vast and underrated State and the only thing that I have against it is that it is very Republican but most rural states are so what are you going to do? So, Omaha - There's not a whole lot to do here but it's a really cool old city, and Lincoln is a really nice exciting young college town so the state is not completely bereft of Thrills and culture. There are some cool things to eat and cool places to shop around Omaha and lots of great College spirit in Lincoln. Check out Runza - a local fast food specialty imported from Germany. Very interesting. It wouldn't be near my the top of my list of states to visit but you would be a fool to miss out on it. Driving across Nebraska from one end to the other is an experience to say the least. You might find it boring or you might find it peaceful but it definitely doesn't compare to anything else, and my word do they have a lot of fields and farmland. Old man Peabody owned all of this. He had this crazy idea about breeding pine trees.

At first I thought Nebraska would be way more hick but it's just Midwesterners. Some cool camping and fishing spots, but lacks in a lot of other outdoor activities. College sports aren't the best teams but one of the most fun to attend. Husker fans have a lot of passion despite the teams win rate.

This sculpture is the work of Matthew Placzek who created this wonderful piece in 2009. It was not…read morehis original idea though, Placzek only fulfilled a design by John David Brcin, from the late 1920's that was intended for the Joslyn Memorial (now Joslyn Art Museum). It is made of bronze, weighs 5 tons, and stands 15 feet high. This statue use to be located at the Joslyn Art Museum, which is closed until at least sometime next year. However, I found that it was recently moved behind the CHI Health Center, in Lewis and Clark Landing, right next to the MLK Jr. Pedestrian Bridge. It is a nice sculpture that is a nod to Omaha's Native American heritage. It depicts a proud Native American on horseback as the horse rears up on its hind legs. It is in an extremely new area that they are still doing the landscaping. You see a lot of hay nets down to assist with growing grass in the area. The sculpture is in decent shape, especially considering its age. I cannot wait to see what they do with the area that the statue is now located. Anyway, as with most sculptures that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 15 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip.

There is metered street parking within a reasonable walking distance from theses two attractions,…read morebut this is not a destination park and most people won't be traveling here just for the parks. There are located across the street from each other. The bronze and stainless steel sculptures are the work of Blair Buswell and Edward Fraughton. First National Bank commissioned the large projects, which was headed by landscape architect Jim Reeves. There two attractions are considered the largest installation of bronze and stainless steel work of art in the United States and one of the two or three largest in the world. They both are in landscaped areas with Pioneer Courage being in more of a park and and Spirit of Nebraska Wilderness being in more of a plaza. The Spirit of Nebraska Primarily consists of a bunch of buffaloes and Canadian geese. I love how they have scattered a few of the sculptures all the way down a couple of blocks. You will find geese sculptures on light poles and buffaloes just hanging out by their lonesome. The bulk of this display is in a little plaza area with a couple of benches and a paved walkway. Pioneer Courage Park gives a very life-like and accurate depiction of westward expansion with statues families and animals, with wagons, venturing into unfamiliar territory. The sculptures are divided into sub sections including one titled Wagon Master, which represents the wagon that guided the rest of the pioneers and was responsible for supplies and management of the group. There is also the Hunter Group, which represents the wagon trains that were responsible for hunting and providing food provisions. You will also see the Trail Boss, waving his hat in the air and a Native American sentinel . The sculptures are very detailed. You can really feel their struggle. Viewers are able to mingle about and in between the sculptures. The are nice pieces and you can't miss them. They definitely catches your eye, but as I mentioned, I do not see people making either of these their primary destination. Most visitors, such as myself, will be passing by or on their way to another destination and then are drawn in by the magnificent sculptures. They will peek your curiosity. Still, they are something that you must see while in Omaha. I highly recommend checking it out.

You will find this marvelous multi-media work in front of CHI Health Center Arena. It is the work…read moreof team led by Matthew Placzek of Placzek Studios and was completed in 2007. There is metered street parking, commercial lots and garages available to park. And check this piece out. It consists of an illuminated 35-foot stainless steel clock, and features six larger than life bronze figures that are intended to symbolize arts and humanities. One figure is a mime, there is also a jazz musician, a juggler, a man on stilts. You will find Numerous multicolored spheres around the clock and in the hands of the sculptures that only add to its appeal. The piece continues inside of the building where you will find color balls that look like suspended balloons, that produces a state-of-the-art light show in the evenings. All in all, the piece is made up of more than 2,000 LED lights, 4,000 pounds of bronze, 28,000 pounds of stainless steel, and 360 tons of concrete and had a budget of $1.7 million. The sculptures are so very detailed. They almost look real. I was very impressed. This piece is groundbreaking and is a signature piece. The sad part is that this will be a secondary stop for most of its visitors, who are attending an event at the Arena. Either way, this is a must-see piece and I highly recommend checking it out. As with most sculptures that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 15 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip.
