This city features cool things that I don't even expect to see in a city like mine that of Chicago. In this city alone, I have been to a speakeasy, checked out it's beautiful downtown with the Scenic Overlook of the River and even explored his Old Town District. The downtown area is very walkable which is what I love about Omaha. Price is here throughout most of the downtown area are very fair. The amenities are above and beyond! It feels like a major destination. I even do feel safe walking here late at night. Throughout my time driving here there's always minimal traffic here, friendly people passing by and not too many homeless people around the downtown area though they are a bit outside the city. Navigating the streets are easy. The city has great gas prices and everything is accessible while nothing being too far away!

I'm within walking distance to many nice places to eat, gyms, and just places to hang out. If I HAD to complain we need like a Hyvee or a Walmart neighborhood market down here because the grocery options are kinda lame. Having never lived in Dundee, this review is primarily based on the business district. The main…read morestreet, Underwood Ave, is just a few blocks north of Dodge. To get there you will drive past a number of magnicent homes that date back 100 years. The first thing you'll notice as you approach Dundee from the west on Underwood is that the business district starts on 51st street and stretches a couple of blocks. This is an extremely walkable area with several bars and restaurants on the street so park the car and take a walk. This is easily one of my favorite streets in the city and it's great for a night out. You can park, grab a bite at one of the many great restaurants (Mark's for example), get a drink or two (might I recomend the Dundee Dell), get some ice cream (eCreamery is just steps away). If you want to get a cup of cofee, walk five blocks to the south on 50th street for Dunde Double Shot Coffee. From there, its just a few more steps to the east to catch a flick at the restored Dundee Theatre. Now that we've got that out of the way, I will say, I've always wanted to live in Dundee. We toured several houses and made a few unsuccesful offers on a few. Just keep in mind that competition is intense in Dundee as it may be the most desirable neighborhood in the city. So if this where you want to live, be prepared!

There's a diverse group of people who live here as well -- from college kids in run down apartments to seniors in government housing to families dwelling in the many well-kept large brick homes. My suggestion: Take a walk on 51st Street towards Underwood Avenue, hit up Le Quartier for a snack and then head to A.B.'s for a soda. Swing back towards your destination along 50th Street and just enjoy the serene beauty of Dundee in any season.

There are located across the street from each other. The bronze and stainless steel sculptures are the work of Blair Buswell and Edward Fraughton. First National Bank commissioned the large projects, which was headed by landscape architect Jim Reeves. There two attractions are considered the largest installation of bronze and stainless steel work of art in the United States and one of the two or three largest in the world. They both are in landscaped areas with Pioneer Courage being in more of a park and and Spirit of Nebraska Wilderness being in more of a plaza. The Spirit of Nebraska Primarily consists of a bunch of buffaloes and Canadian geese. I love how they have scattered a few of the sculptures all the way down a couple of blocks. You will find geese sculptures on light poles and buffaloes just hanging out by their lonesome. The bulk of this display is in a little plaza area with a couple of benches and a paved walkway. Pioneer Courage Park gives a very life-like and accurate depiction of westward expansion with statues families and animals, with wagons, venturing into unfamiliar territory. The sculptures are divided into sub sections including one titled Wagon Master, which represents the wagon that guided the rest of the pioneers and was responsible for supplies and management of the group. There is also the Hunter Group, which represents the wagon trains that were responsible for hunting and providing food provisions. You will also see the Trail Boss, waving his hat in the air and a Native American sentinel . The sculptures are very detailed. You can really feel their struggle. Viewers are able to mingle about and in between the sculptures. The are nice pieces and you can't miss them. They definitely catches your eye, but as I mentioned, I do not see people making either of these their primary destination. Most visitors, such as myself, will be passing by or on their way to another destination and then are drawn in by the magnificent sculptures. They will peek your curiosity. Still, they are something that you must see while in Omaha. I highly recommend checking it out.

Regardless of your Italian Heritage or membership, they offer a spaghetti dinner a couple times of year, usually in the spring and the fall. To go containers welcome, too. That's in addition to the longtime annual Festa Italiana held annually the first weekend of September which features not only the great food, but entertainment for the entire family. Homemade Italian sausage sale is also held a couple times a year. I was so glad when the Society was able to build Il Palazzo several years ago to have a dedicated modern space to hold these events since they outgrew their building on 14th Street a long time ago. The beautiful building can also be rented for wedding receptions and such. Many other Italian heritage events held throughout the year. But here is my overall assessment of The Back Nine. First of all I want to say thank you to Meg and her intern for the event; I appreciate your organization skills and enjoy chatting. One of the first things I really enjoyed about learning about Back Nine was that they allow you to bring in your own food and drink. I would rather not spend the extra money on bar food if I can just bring in my own. Golf is expensive enough, which leads me into my next point...Back Nine is considerably cheaper than other golf simulators. There are punch passes & membership pricing. Also they are open 24/7! Another thing I noticed is that the lighting is so much better than other golf simulators...you can actually see what your doing. And, there is no tacky moveble platform which seems like a good thing, until you trip over the platform cause you always slice the ball, lol. Myself as a causal golfer, this is more my lane. The tee time packages at 5,10 or 20 hours look like something I would personally use. The 24/7 access, the ability to bring in your own food and drink, and the cost is what I am most excited about.

I hadn't had pizza from there in so long and can't wait to go back. I'm really happy they have a more convenient location than going all the way to 10th street! Thanks Meg for alcoholic and NA drink options, I tried an NA Peroni and would have one again! I was impressed learning that the experience is customizable. Meaning you can bring your own food and drinks and make it your own time! The golf pro said he and his wife bring dinner from home, drinks, and make it a cozy fun date night.

When we went inside, the nice guy told us we could either go walk the big bridge outside in the back which goes over the Missouri River or to watch the 25 minute Lewis & Clark adventures video. We chose to walk the bridge which was really cool. When getting to the middle of the bridge, you could put one foot on the state of Nebraska and the other foot on the Iowa side! It also was a beautiful view in and direction you looked from here. After we walked back into the museum and watched the 25 min film. It was a good short film and very informative. Was glad we watched it to see some of our US History. There was just a few items to look at inside. Plain and simple museum! Restroom was nice and clean. Nice people work here, security was really nice too. Must check out if you are ever in the Omaha area near Omaha Airport!

They have also the unigrids (brochures) that you can find in each of the National Parks. The gift shop has nice items like badges, magnets, shirts, caps, books, national parks passports, animal/insect figures, stuffed toys, pens, etc. The rangers were very nice and answered questions well. They can allow you to see the 25-minute video about the Lewis and Clark expedition which was very informative. You can access the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge at the back from here where you can find the Nebraska/Iowa state line.

You will find this marvelous multi-media work in front of CHI Health Center Arena. It is the work…read moreof team led by Matthew Placzek of Placzek Studios and was completed in 2007. There is metered street parking, commercial lots and garages available to park. And check this piece out. It consists of an illuminated 35-foot stainless steel clock, and features six larger than life bronze figures that are intended to symbolize arts and humanities. One figure is a mime, there is also a jazz musician, a juggler, a man on stilts. You will find Numerous multicolored spheres around the clock and in the hands of the sculptures that only add to its appeal. The piece continues inside of the building where you will find color balls that look like suspended balloons, that produces a state-of-the-art light show in the evenings. All in all, the piece is made up of more than 2,000 LED lights, 4,000 pounds of bronze, 28,000 pounds of stainless steel, and 360 tons of concrete and had a budget of $1.7 million. The sculptures are so very detailed. They almost look real. I was very impressed. This piece is groundbreaking and is a signature piece. The sad part is that this will be a secondary stop for most of its visitors, who are attending an event at the Arena. Either way, this is a must-see piece and I highly recommend checking it out. As with most sculptures that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 15 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip.
