Having never lived in Dundee, this review is primarily based on the business district. The main…read morestreet, Underwood Ave, is just a few blocks north of Dodge. To get there you will drive past a number of magnicent homes that date back 100 years. The first thing you'll notice as you approach Dundee from the west on Underwood is that the business district starts on 51st street and stretches a couple of blocks. This is an extremely walkable area with several bars and restaurants on the street so park the car and take a walk. This is easily one of my favorite streets in the city and it's great for a night out. You can park, grab a bite at one of the many great restaurants (Mark's for example), get a drink or two (might I recomend the Dundee Dell), get some ice cream (eCreamery is just steps away). If you want to get a cup of cofee, walk five blocks to the south on 50th street for Dunde Double Shot Coffee. From there, its just a few more steps to the east to catch a flick at the restored Dundee Theatre. Now that we've got that out of the way, I will say, I've always wanted to live in Dundee. We toured several houses and made a few unsuccesful offers on a few. Just keep in mind that competition is intense in Dundee as it may be the most desirable neighborhood in the city. So if this where you want to live, be prepared!

There's a diverse group of people who live here as well -- from college kids in run down apartments to seniors in government housing to families dwelling in the many well-kept large brick homes. My suggestion: Take a walk on 51st Street towards Underwood Avenue, hit up Le Quartier for a snack and then head to A.B.'s for a soda. Swing back towards your destination along 50th Street and just enjoy the serene beauty of Dundee in any season.

This sculpture is the work of Matthew Placzek who created this wonderful piece in 2009. It was not…read morehis original idea though, Placzek only fulfilled a design by John David Brcin, from the late 1920's that was intended for the Joslyn Memorial (now Joslyn Art Museum). It is made of bronze, weighs 5 tons, and stands 15 feet high. This statue use to be located at the Joslyn Art Museum, which is closed until at least sometime next year. However, I found that it was recently moved behind the CHI Health Center, in Lewis and Clark Landing, right next to the MLK Jr. Pedestrian Bridge. It is a nice sculpture that is a nod to Omaha's Native American heritage. It depicts a proud Native American on horseback as the horse rears up on its hind legs. It is in an extremely new area that they are still doing the landscaping. You see a lot of hay nets down to assist with growing grass in the area. The sculpture is in decent shape, especially considering its age. I cannot wait to see what they do with the area that the statue is now located. Anyway, as with most sculptures that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 15 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip.

This building is mostly offices. There's not a lot to see inside except for the gift shop, a small…read moretheater, and maps on the wall of the Lewis and Clark trail. They have also the unigrids (brochures) that you can find in each of the National Parks. The gift shop has nice items like badges, magnets, shirts, caps, books, national parks passports, animal/insect figures, stuffed toys, pens, etc. The rangers were very nice and answered questions well. They can allow you to see the 25-minute video about the Lewis and Clark expedition which was very informative. You can access the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge at the back from here where you can find the Nebraska/Iowa state line.

This is a pretty large visitor's center! It's pretty roomy, with multiple scattered displays about…read morethe area, Lewis and Clark's travels, and artifacts. There's a film that you can request to play (although it feels like it needs updating from the video quality), as well as a gift shop. Near the bathrooms is a whole display of NPS brochures about nearby NPS sites. In the back of the center is a well maintained garden with native plants and informational displays. The path is pea gravel so it is well draining. From there you can walk along the river, or walk on the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.

You will find this marvelous multi-media work in front of CHI Health Center Arena. It is the work…read moreof team led by Matthew Placzek of Placzek Studios and was completed in 2007. There is metered street parking, commercial lots and garages available to park. And check this piece out. It consists of an illuminated 35-foot stainless steel clock, and features six larger than life bronze figures that are intended to symbolize arts and humanities. One figure is a mime, there is also a jazz musician, a juggler, a man on stilts. You will find Numerous multicolored spheres around the clock and in the hands of the sculptures that only add to its appeal. The piece continues inside of the building where you will find color balls that look like suspended balloons, that produces a state-of-the-art light show in the evenings. All in all, the piece is made up of more than 2,000 LED lights, 4,000 pounds of bronze, 28,000 pounds of stainless steel, and 360 tons of concrete and had a budget of $1.7 million. The sculptures are so very detailed. They almost look real. I was very impressed. This piece is groundbreaking and is a signature piece. The sad part is that this will be a secondary stop for most of its visitors, who are attending an event at the Arena. Either way, this is a must-see piece and I highly recommend checking it out. As with most sculptures that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 15 minutes. Omaha, Nebraska seems to be growing on me as one of my new favorite cities. The downtown area seems…read moreto be where it's at but once you leave that downtown area it goes downhill pretty quick! This city features cool things that I don't even expect to see in a city like mine that of Chicago. In this city alone, I have been to a speakeasy, checked out it's beautiful downtown with the Scenic Overlook of the River and even explored his Old Town District. The downtown area is very walkable which is what I love about Omaha. Price is here throughout most of the downtown area are very fair. The amenities are above and beyond! It feels like a major destination. I even do feel safe walking here late at night. Throughout my time driving here there's always minimal traffic here, friendly people passing by and not too many homeless people around the downtown area though they are a bit outside the city. Navigating the streets are easy. The city has great gas prices and everything is accessible while nothing being too far away!

I love downtown Omaha!…read more I don't drive a car so the fact I'm on almost every bus line in town is such a convenience. I'm within walking distance to many nice places to eat, gyms, and just places to hang out. If I HAD to complain we need like a Hyvee or a Walmart neighborhood market down here because the grocery options are kinda lame. If you're in downtown Omaha make sure you check out the old market or go walk the river front, it's beautiful!

Who knew ramen and a…read moreburger would be such a cool pairing and who knew That Charlie Yins dog actually tried to hump me and my family members had he not invited us to his beautiful kitchen for this event! Ok to explain Charlie yin is the owner of many omaha restaurants and was the co host for this event. He showed us how to cook our meals from his beautiful home that I had toured because I've been on the market to buy a house. anyways had the fortunate opportunity to possibly buy his home and when we went to see it his dog excitedly greeted us. Anyways that part made the event even more fun to put all the connections together but other than Charlie and Community manager Meg B making it all so entertaining and informative it was so nice to see some of my yelp buds even if it was online bc it had already felt like forever since the last live Yelp event. I only give it 4/5 stars bc I am a lazy yelper and don't really want to pick up my food for an event. I'd rather just show up or get it delivered but clearly Yelp and Meg are doing the best they can to make sure most importantly everyone is safe and I can't thank them enough for that!

I will come back thru and visit as there apparently is a marble museum, a children's museum, a living history farm, and a speedway in the area.
