Great customer service and a very clean motel. It's a very cute vintage motel and I couldn't ask for more.

I travel a lot for work and this is by far the most comforting hotel I've stayed at. The people…read morethat own this place really make you feel at home and treat you right. The rooms are small and comforting and newly refurbished. Breakfast and dinner are home cooked and pretty delicious if you ask me. I really enjoyed my stay here and if I ever come out to these neck of the woods again I know where I'm staying.

Ok so this hotel is under new ownership, this nice family opened in December of 2018. I found this…read morehotel on hotels.com and honestly booked it because my budget at this point is extremely minimal. My stay cost me around 47.00 for the night. So I honestly wasn't expecting to much. I pulled into an empty parking lot and walked through a pleasant gated entry. I then had to buzz in to enter this small hotel to gain entry which I felt was comforting, because I am a woman staying alone. I was greeted by these two adorable children who then called mom and dad to the front office. I then was happily greeted by by their mother BJ and soon followed by their father Jay. There super energetic son who will be turning 7, made me smile and his older sister slightly annoyed by her little brothers energy made me feel very at home. What a sweet family. Checking in was swift and they walked me to my room, little guy leading the way. This small little hotel is very clean, for its age and you can tell they have put a lot of time, hard work, and effort into their old/but now new hotel. My room had a full size bed, a nicer model college refrigerator, microwave, and the tv is smaller than most hotels but for the size of my room is perfect and mounted on the wall which I like. The bathroom is small, basic bathtub, shower and toilet. The cute sink and mirror is in the corner of the room and I find it quite quaint. But what impresses me most is they laid tile flooring, I have never been in a hotel with tile floors and I must say I prefer it. BJ told me not all of the rooms have tile, but it is a work in progress. As I sit on the bed drinking a glass of wine, writing this review the bed is comfortable, the heater works great, which is important to me because I am extremely cold natured. I will be checking out early around 7:30am and asked BJ about the continental breakfast, because this is a newly opened hotel business is slower, so BJ told me to call around 7am so that she could prepare me breakfast, ready at 7:15 and I will be out the door at 7:30, how sweet is that! Jay her husband is the sweetest and with a bicycle light on his head has been working diligently to improve their future home and business. The dining are is really nice. I also want to mention that I went to pick up a pizza around 7pm and WOW! The parking lot and gated path is so well lit you could read a small print novel! For a single female traveler this added extra comfort and safety during my stay. They also have cameras lots and lots of cameras that work!!! More safety!! I visit Woodward 2-3 times a month, this will be the place that I stay! I honestly have nothing negative to say. Is it the Hyatt in downtown Washington DC, absolutely not. This is a tiny hotel owned by a family making their American dream happen, and in my opinion are doing it well in Woodward Oklahoma, a great lil hotel!

We have been staying at this hotel a couple times a year since 2009. Always a great placate to stay…read moreuntil now. We came for thanksgiving to spend it with family who lives in Woodward and Mutual. Upon arrival the front desk who has always let us bring our dog into an atrium room close to outside doors said they don't do that anymore because someone had an allergic reaction to dogs. But during our stay we saw a plethora of dogs staying in rooms in the interior atrium area. First morning was Thanksgiving day so when housekeeping came by I said we don't need service so they could get home to their families soon and celebrate. Next three days.....no maid service even after requesting it at front desk on second day. We had to get our towels from front desk and take our trash bags out daily, and make beds. Which is not a big deal bc I do that all the time at home but part of the price to stay is having room made up and nice and tidy upon your return. It's a nice perk of traveling. Breakfast was a huge fiasco. TIFFANY, who works in kitchen was loud and berating the other patrons to a group of customers apparently she knew well. She was making my daughter feel awful bc she had six children eating the included breakfast with stay. My daughter lives in mutual and came to Woodward and payed and stayed in TWO rooms with her family so was well within her rights to have breakfast (four of the children were under five, we know how little they eat). Tiffany was complaining, arguing, and just being rude in a very huge voice in the dining room amongst the customers. I told her "I've been here four days and never eat breakfast, the kids can have my share". Tiffany, yelled back to the busboy while my daughter and family were still there and said " get a broom when their done, because you're not gonna like what you see". (Which my daughter cleaned up any messes left by her and children, reasonably so) we didn't bring a vacuum to hotel with us, so they had to do that . Then... Tiffany proceeded to say very loudly to her friends at the table next to us. "That's what I call a case of barnitis" clearly, meaning for us and the whole restaurant to hear. My daughter left crying because she was made to feel so awful by this woman who is an employee and therefore a representative of this business. We have family who also come in from Texas a couple times a year and have always recommended they stay here bc it's fun for kids. We won't be staying there anymore. Because it's fun for kids does not make up for run down appearance of rooms, walls, walkways, rudeness of employees, and poor customer service. We will not come back nor refer family and friends. Woodward has a lot of other options for overnight stays.

It's funny how many people I have come across in this town saying that the Sands Motel was recently…read morerenovated because I thought a renovation was something they could use. I stayed here for a few weeks on a business trip. My company paid for the rooms so I can't comment much on the prices, but from one of the signs I saw, I don't think it was very reasonable. The bathroom in my room seemed like someone hadn't come back to do any trim work. Even behind the toilet paper roll was white while the wall was beige. The comforter I had on my bed had burn holes in more than a few spots. The towels are the most uncomfortable I have ever used. The maids seem to love to bang on the door around 8:30 am and never hear when I ask them to come back. (Yes, I would have put out the 'Do Not Disturb' sign if my room even had one.) Even when they come in and I ask them to come back, they rarely seem to make their way back to the room to clean up. The laundry room here is almost not worth talking about and certainly not worth going to. The washing machine works fine, and only costs $1.25 in quarters (half as much as it does in town). The problem is the dryer, which also cost $1.25, and just doesn't work. It is a better idea to wash your clothes here and then take them to the local laundromat to dry them since you can just put a quarter in for 6 minutes, and it'll actually dry! Or, better yet, stay somewhere else! (I do understand that this town has a lot of workers stay for extended periods, but that doesn't mean you should settle for a crappy place.)
