The shops come and go here, you can purchase a lock at the container park store or order one on Amazon. At night the mantis and mascot for the park lights up and spits fire. Parking is a nightmare here. Best times to come are early in the morning, especially on the weekends. They always have some sort of extra event happening in the area it's part of the beautification of the area. It's truly been revitalized. When we used to come here decades ago, it's was rough . Downtown Container Park is a bunch of restaurants, bars, and shops built in repurposed shipping containers. There is paid street parking around the area that costs $4/hour. There was a lawn with games and a giant TV for sports games. There are community events and live music. It's family friendly during the day and turns into 21+ in the evening. I was in town for a friend's wedding and I needed to get my hair done. I had an appointment at a salon and had the friendliest hairdresser. She told me she was from Las Vegas and because she was a local I asked her where she liked to spend her free time. Her eyes lit up. I know in her industry the focus is always the customer but I'm guessing it was rare for her that a customer asked what she liked to do. She told me that she enjoyed visiting Container Park and told me to check it out during the daytime but also nighttime just to experience the contrast. She even told me about the mantis art piece. I thanked her for the suggestion and she did a great job styling my hair. I never forgot her kindness. So on two separate visits to Vegas I went with different groups of friends and fam to Container Park. It's such a fun and welcoming open space with cute shops and restaurants in former shipping containers. I liked the concept of reusing things in creative ways. If an object can be repurposed instead of going into the landfill then that's always the better option. Sure enough I saw the Giant Metal Mantis show at night. I like how it's built from repurposed containers and cubes, and the park is featuring boutique shops, restaurants, bars, and a playground, there's often live music. I have strongly positive feelings for this place that outweigh my misgivings most of the time. First my reasons to stop in- The outdoor park is incredible for my younger (8 and 5 y/o) children to play. There's always other kids and they'll play for hours especially on the unique electronic giant thing. Sometimes there's live music which is always nice. If their Dads with us I'll wander to my friend Jessica Galindos cool shop, the galleries and to get a sample of jerky from Jojos. I've gone to this mall since the soft opening so unfortunately several places I really liked are already out (some back to only their original downtown locations at least) due to the short term nature of leases. There's some new ones but I haven't bought anything really special that's still available except Galindos jewelry, leggings from Crazy Legs and random gifts from art box. I only need/buy those things maybe once or twice a year. I've also given up on any food options outside of snacks from the vegan place or the candy or cupcake shops for the kids. All restaurants expensive and were either only ok (big erns, pinches tacos) or wildly inconsistent good/bad food (bin 702). pork n beans was undercooked beans and they're closed now. Sweet Spot was always great but packed every time now which is the biggest drawback of the place. Tourist central!!! 90% of the friends on the playground are from out of town any time we've gone. And it's a mall plain and simple. Ive never been for the night life time when shops are closed so no comment to that. So with the knowledge that it's a mall and everything that stands for I have a hard time wanting to go but when we're in the neighborhood it's hard to say no to playtime in that treehouse! read more

The container park was a short walk from the attractions on Fremont street. Although we didn't visit many shops, I could tell they had a variety from desserts to beauty to retro shops. We ate at the terrace restaurant and it was very good! They have a bottomless mimosa special that's a great deal. It was a beautiful day and they had live music going on by the park area. It's been almost 7 years since I've last visited Downtown Container Park. The last time I visited this park was to go to Plant Haven, a plant store, located on the 2nd floor of Container Park. This time, I was down in the area for a race! Container Park is one of the more unique areas in Las Vegas. It's part shopping center, part entertainment hub, and part creative reuse landmark. It opened in 2013 to help revitalize Las Vegas downtown and Fremont Street! What's fascinating about this park is that it was built largely out of repurposed shipping containers. Over 40 different containers were used and additional steel modular units that help the design of the park. The containers have a variety of retail shops, restaurants, bars and galleries. Most of these shops are local and independent businesses! One of the highlights of Downtown Container Park is the praying mantis sculpture at the entrance. It was originally built for another event but now it's located in Container Park. There is also a stage for live performances and events! Some of the current restaurants in Downtown Container Park include the following: Waffelato Ninth Island Gourmet Bin 702 Mob Pie Downtown Terrace This is such a fun place to visit. They also have an open area where they have live music and you can bring your chairs and hang out. They also have a giant cricket/grasshopper located out front that puts on a show at night. I was here on January for date night w/my husband for an random deep-dish pizza. We found parking spot just fine but only thing concerning was the area of the town was way too dark at night and they had some homeless people walking around w/carts. It might be good idea to come during bright day light for the safety reason. Most of the stores were already closed in container park since we came out 7ish. LOVED my second experience here for my son's play date. We were blessed with beautiful & sunny weather in January! My toddler & his little friend LOVED the tree house, as well as the giant blocks area. What a great way for little toddlers to burn off some energy. I saw there were a ton of restaurants, as well as boba place to choose from too. It was NFL's divisional playoff Sunday, so the giant TV with pregame show was playing in the courtyard area. Convenient to El Cortez and downtown Las Vegas is this unusual little shopping mall built in a unique way - out of containers. I love the little praying mantis shooting flames - it makes the place come alive with a pop of sound. Tony Hsieh did a lot downtown - and of all the things he did I think this one stands out. If you come here its important to remember him and what he wanted and his vision. His family could care less about it - and that is sad. Some fancy boutique retail, places to eat and drink and places to sit and hang with friends. Its a family friendly place in an area that is smoke filled casinos and debauchery. There was recently a little Burning Man in Oakland - Decompression - and this area reminds me of that just a bit. Our family loved Downtown Container Park, we walked here two of the three nights we stayed in Down Town Las Vegas. My ten year old son was truly amazed at the giant metal flame throwing mechanical praying mantis which blasts both music and fire every half hour at the entrance of Container Park. Super fun. We did a good tour that started in the container park. I love how artsy and eclectic it is over here! The shops charge out every now and then so it's very possible you go to a store on a trip and the next trip there's a different store. Cute. Innovative. Fun for the family to escape the vegas strip for simple play. We had a couple of families come down to run around and get the wiggles out. Loved the concept of using shipping containers to build this little enclosed playground and shopping mall. The playground had various pathways to run around and corners to explore. During the vegas warm days they have a misting system to keep kids cool. Appreciated the gate and overall the crowd there was respectful and appropriate. No weirdos when we were there and the kids had a great time. Appreciated the boba shop and restaurants nearby. Definitely recommend coming down when the weather is nice to have some fun! read more

So this is a fun little place to go to. If you are in the area. It's very walkable and it has a couple floors so to speak. Make sure you go and check out all of the floors and little nooks and crannies of the container part. So it's free to get in, so you'll walk right in, just look for the praying mantis metal statue. You can go left or right, and there are plenty of other spots there like bars and lemonade stands and tattoo parlors and boutiques. Make sure you check the signs when you go because some places have a happy hour when you're there so just be mindful of that when you're walking around. If you want to go shopping for boutique clothes or jewelry, this is also a good spot as well. They have some indoor and outdoor seating in there. Some courtyard and playscapes in the middle. So you can actually bring your kids as well. That's not an excessive amount of things to do, but there's just enough so it's worth the visit. read more

The parking is a challenge when the parking meter is not user friendly. Not happy about that. Also, I did not like being approached by a man begging for money. We were trying to figure out the parking meter procedure when he approached. Luckily it was daylight and others were around. After not giving him money, he peacefully moved on. Upon entering we were greeted by a person who appeared to be security. I wish they had security for the parking lot across the street from the venue. We walked around the container park and there was nothing there of interest for us. There is a huge play area centrally located in the container park. The vibe I was feeling about the place... it's a nice venue to let the kids play while the adults drink (the restaurants seem to feature alcoholic beverages in their advertising). After walking around for several minutes, we left. Dissapointing experience. Maybe it's more interesting at night or with a special event. However, I doubt we'll ever return. The parking and being approached by a person begging for money is a big turn off. read more

I have seen concepts like this in a few other cities, but this particular one has a character all its own. First off, there's a giant praying mantis at the entrance that shoots out fire in the evenings. It seems like a really great addition to this area and there any number of places to eat or shop or just hang out with friends and family. Every time I'm in Vegas for work, my co-workers rave about how fun the Container Park is. After finally visiting this past trip, I wonder what all the fuss is about. We went twice on this past trip, and the first night, nearly nothing was open at 7 pm. The bar and the art room were it. It was a bit windy, so didn't know if some vendors shut down because of that or if they really weren't open past 7. The second time, we arrived around 6:15 pm and headed up to the terrace restaurant and went to sit. Someone then directed us that we were welcome to sit, but the restaurant closed at 6. WTF? On a very nice Sunday night? Walked back down to the one restaurant that was still open, but just not the shopping and dining experience I was hoping for. Recommend! If you can make it near dark you are in for some cool surprises. This feels more like an art district with some shops. This is my second visit. The first time in town we only got to see it as we rushed by, and this time we got to explore. There is art. There is live music. There is food and lots of fun shops on a Thursday evening. Look for the giant praying mantis or the stacked containers just a block or so from the old Vegas on Fremont street. You happen upon some great art. The giant mantis is a treat as the sun goes down. There is some music and then the mantis comes to life. Fire in time with music and it plays about every 15 minutes. There is a big playground in the middle of the area. It's all free to enjoy in the middle. Right near that is a grassy area near a stage. Here is where the live music played as we enjoyed the shops. Its not really the best for a lot of kid time. It is more like an art district. As the sun sets it is aimed more towards the 21 plus crowd. read more

We were looking for a place to eat lunch, and my BIL remembered this place having options of food so we came here on a Sunday back in February some time before 2:00pm. The Container Park takes up a whole block, but the entrance is at the corner of Fremont Street and 7th Street, where there's a huge praying mantis. Not sure if there are other entrances. We parked in the lot across from the Park off 7th ("Container Park Lot" - I think about $7.00 for 2 hours?). So, basically this place has shipping containers that are utilized as shops and restaurants. It has an artsy flair, with businesses that have individuality. They do have a small park/play area in the center, as well as a stage for concerts and entertainment. I'm all for supporting local artists and small businesses, but nothing really grabbed my attention. At the time, there were maybe about 4 places that had actual food, and the rest were snacks/desserts and drinks. The bar houses seemed the most popular here (we weren't here for alcohol though). Kids might have fun in the small play area, but otherwise, I don't see them enjoying this place for long. And surprisingly, it feels a lot smaller when walking around inside. We ended up just walking around, soaking in the neat environment, checking out the shops, and then left. read more

Downtown Container Park is located on the historic Fremont Street and approximately one block from the Fremont Street Experience. It is an open-air center with boutique shops, unique restaurants, live entertainment, and an interactive playground. We mainly visited for the playground which had three tall "treehouses" built from containers, a small rock-climbing structure, and a light-sensory game in which you would tap the light to score. Our girls were gassed after a few rounds so it's a great way for parents to expense their children's energy! Right next to the stage is a faux lawn with building blocks. We found free parking a couple streets away and moseyed on over. Although the surrounding area felt a bit rough, the only interaction we had was a polite request for change. At the entrance, a large metal praying mantis greeted us. I'd heard it breathes fire in the evening, but we went too early to catch the show. This open-air mall/park is both a nod to sustainability and a middle finger to cookie-cutter construction. There's a decent-sized kids' playground and three stories of small stores, everything from Mexican food and typical tourist swag to bars, nail salons, and vintage shops. There was also a stage, but no one was performing at the time. The park looked clean and seemed family-friendly enough - just be mindful in the gift shops unless you're ready to explain some interesting souvenirs, lol. Such a cute hangout spot. I came here the other night and there was live jazz music playing. There are different areas for kids to play on the grass in front of the stage or the enclosed jungle gym. There are plenty of cute shops and restaurant. Some jewelry spots, some painting, and others for trinkets, the price here overall is mid priced but there are plenty of free events you can take advantage of as well. Las Vegas is the Entertainment Capital of the World, and yes that means they should have activities to entertain kids too. The Downtown Container Park is worth visiting to get away from the dark, smoky casinos and crowded Strip. The Park is essentially a collection of Shipping Containers that have been converted into businesses: restaurants, salon, coffee stand, and even restroom. Nestled in the middle is a huge artificial lawn for the kids to run around and build with these gigantic foam lego-like blocks. Since we were visiting during Thanksgiving week, they had Christmas decorations up too. There are plenty of places to sit with tables throughout the park, which is great for lunch and taking a break. Gender-neutral restrooms with plumbing and diaper-changing are located on the second level. At night, the Container Park turns into an outdoor beer and music place for the adults. The Praying Mantis statue will also begin breathing fire. Entrance to the park is free, but you'll need to pay for parking if using the large, open parking lot next to three Park. read more

Totally dug the vibe here. Place is built entirely out of containers and managed to make this a pretty neat experience. Shops, eateries, some brew pubs, and an outdoor stage for live music. The giant mantis out front is a neat experience. The fire blowing out of the antennas at night is something that you need to see. read more
