I rented tables, chairs, and linens for a bridal shower. I was able to set such a lovely table with those linens and all the guests complimented the set up, which was super easy for me because Downey Party Rentals delivered it and then picked it up afterwards. They are very friendly and easy to deal with and I will definitely rent from this family-owned business again. read more

What a joke . Your attitude and unkind nature is the problem . Not necessarily the policy . Had you been a little more understanding and not such an old stick in the mud maybe you wouldn't be receiving such terrible reviews about your demeanor - again you are the problem . Not your son . Not your policy . YOU read more

I love coming to Downey Party Rentals every time I have a gathering at my house. They have great hours accompanied by amazing service. The prices are fair and they even assist with loading your items into your vehicle. I just had my 4th of July party and needed chairs plus tables quickly. I knew this place was open and had just what I needed. Been a customer for 3 years now and will never consider any other party rental place instead. Thank you again! See you guys for my next party. read more

Worst customer service. DO NOT COME HERE!! The old lady/owner Kitty has terrible customer etiquette and approached my farther and I upon arrival with hostility when I asked to pick up an order for my sister in law. We were given misinformation about who can pick up the order when my sister in law was told by another employee that I would be able to pick up with a picture of the receipt. When I explained that her she cut me off and aggressively and said she needed a physical copy of my sister in law's ID and the copy of the receipt. Mind you my father and I already drove 35 mins to get there. She refused to let me pick up the order and I had called my sister in law and had her on the phone and asked if I can FaceTime her and she can show her ID and the receipt. Once again with hostility shut me down and refused to give me the tables/chairs that were already paid for in full amount. My father and I had to drive back to Orange County and wasted another 35 mins driving back here, my sister in law had to drive there and explain to Kitty and whom else that my father and I would be picking up the order and had to leave a description of us. Finally, another 35 mins wasted just to drive there AGAIN the older lady still gave my father and I a hard time and made my father pull out his ID. Very disappointed with this over priced place for low quality splintering items and would not recommend this place to anybody, not even worthy of a 1 star. read more

I have rented from Downey Party Rentals for years. Its just a regular Party Rental place. They have everything you need for your party. When you walk in it is typical. They try to get one of everything on display so you can see what they have and it helps you remember what you may have forgotten. Their pricing is reasonable. I always get tables and chairs, tablecloths and napkins. Sometimes I get umbrellas and maybe some various other stuff. They have just about everything. Their rental terms around the holidays are really flexible and you don't have to rearrange your whole life to pick up or return your stuff. They also deliver and pick it up, sometimes I have it delivered but there is an additional charge for that. But the main thing that keeps me coming back here is the service. There are other places closer to me but Kitty and Nick are the best. They are so friendly, nice and accommodating! Why would I want to go anywhere else. read more

This is the WORST rental place ever! We recently had a devastating death in the family. My daughter went to this place and Kitty supposedly help her! Not! She sold a bunch of BS which was old and mildewed! We received 2 10X20 tents which holes all over the canopy, 12 splinter ridden tables, 6 of which wouldn't fit under the tents and 6 tablecloths!!! All to the tune of $985.00!! WTF... we're devastated! It to mention we paid for black chairs and received white! Kitty was more concerned about her tables than our guests land told us "to store" her tables so THEY wouldn't get wet!! What about my guest!? I said forget your tables will my guest be wet, my food...they brought the wrong size canopy and Nick had a tantrum because he was hungry! The other2 guys were really nice but the owner and her son off the hook! When I inquired about the mildew and holes all over the place, another old guy was miffed saying wait a minute cause I'm working on it. I gave him time even though the tents were LEAKING! He became belligerent and told me he'll "take the shit down and I won't have anything!" Not without giving all my money back you not!!! This company had nothing including weights to keep the wobble tent from collapsing! Horrible! Run from them never use this expensive non professional place, never!!! read more

5 star customer service, the mom & son team helped me out and were very friendly and helpful. I was soooo nervous when the other company I booked with cancelled on me 6 days before my daughter's 1st birthday. I called downey party rentals about 20 mins before closing and explained my situation, she told me to come down the next morning and I could still rent what I needed. They mentioned they usually have available chairs and tables any day because they have a lot of inventory. I am so thankful they saved the day. We were able to pick up our items the day before the party and drop off the day after. So convenient!! Chairs and tables were clean when we received them. We will always go to them first now and recommend them to friends and family. Thank you!!!! read more

This place has horrible customer sírveme skills ! They charge excessively and make you pay for the smallest things. I wouldn't ever do business with them again nor recommend them to anyone. There are plenty of party rentals that's charge 1/3 of that they charge and go above and beyond to keep your business . They charged us a table cover that had a stain that was actually not even visible ! It was smaller than a seed. To top it off they charged more than what the actual cover cost them! This is just one examples the bad experience I had with them. If you want to rent supplies Google part rentals and there is one in Pico that is great! It would not cost 25 for replace that linen. And the stain was almost invisible to the naked eye. read more

I have to say this place is the place to go for all your rental needs. Efficient and have lots in stock. Also prices you can beat elsewhere. There is a strict return policy, so follow it. I had one of the best customer experience I have ever had at this company. First off when I called they were friendly, answered all my questions and have a large inventory, I called another place and they had a $65 min. So I rented some chairs for my bday party. 20 chars $20 something dollars no big deal. I picked them up Saturday and was suppose to return Monday. Well as we all do I forgot to take them Monday. When I arrive Tuesday they unload all the chairs for me and we walk back to the front . I take my wallet out at this point because I know it was my fault and I had there chairs one extra day. I mentioned that I completely forgot and they were like well I see you have done business with us I'm the past don't worry about it! Wth really ? Wow. What a great gesture. You have a client for life! Not to mentions this is a family owned and operated business . read more

For everyone of my events there's a need for attention to detail, service and a need to cater to my very own guest. I absolutely love Mrs. Kitty, owner of Downey Party Rentals, where I've been a customer for several years now because she takes the time to listen to what I want, pays attention to the details of my specific event, she makes her expert advise and then simply gathers all that I need to make my experience either on the phone or in the store an informed decision for my events, in the end whether it's a big or small event, I trust Kitty and Nick to help me put it all together and have a wonderful and successful party! Both Kitty, and her son Nick, are awesome planners! This business is a one stop shop and most important I can always count on them and trust them to always supply me with what I need to make it a fun and enjoyable experience. Their delivery guys are kind, respectful and very sweet. These guys really go out of their way to set things up for me and make sure we're happy. If you want a great experience you'll need to come visit their store. read more

So I hired someone else for my party supplies this past Saturday and to my surprise they didn't show up. So I called Downey rentals almost in tears because my party was going to start in four hours. Downey Party Rentals said come down and we can help you. I rush down there ordered a tent, chairs and tables. The lady was so nice and told her delivery people to put on the truck immediately and deliver. I was so grateful. Did it cost more than the first company, yes, but they reliability you have with a company that gives you a contract and guarantees work is worth the money. You get what you pay for. Honestly, never thought twice before but I will never hire those fly by night people to save a few bucks. I'm renting from Downey Party Rentals they are reliable and so kind. No wonder why they are in business so long. read more

So far so good! I like to do my reviews in sections so you can get an overall feel for my experience. Nick has been so helpful and patient with me over the phone. I'm renting a pop corn machine (best price I found), and I've never rented one before. Obviously, I'll have tons of questions. I'll be back to update my overall experience and post pics! 10-9-12 Nick was a pleasure to do business with. There was another lady that was working in the front, and she was pretty bothered with me, because I didn't bring anyone to help me with the pop corn machine when I picked it up. Yes, to take it to my car. She told me, "You are lucky I have someone here to help you. Why didn't you bring anyone with you, because I wasn't going to help you to the car." I felt like I was in trouble ... I was willing to take it to the car myself. No big deal. Other than that I would say give them a try. Bring help for sure if you are picking up, or you will get in trouble. LOL!! Some people crack me up. read more

Kitty and Nick are amazing! If I could give them a billion stars that wouldn't be enough. Coming to them for our mother's 90th birthday rental needs was the best decision ever. We Rented a slushy machine here for a retirement party. The machine leaked & we had to leave during the party to go replace the O-ring. Thank goodness Home Depot had the part. two days later finally got to speak with the owner kitty who was unwilling to make things right . She also said it was our fault for waiting for the last minute to turn the machine on. she refused to listen or give us a partial refund nor did she offered to pay for the part that we bought . she also proceeded to say she did not like my tone or attitude now she's angry and requested we call her back tomorrow when she had time to calm down & then she hung up. I would not recommend renting anything from here. Only reason why she gets one star is because you have to leave a star to leave a review. read more

I had heard and read mixed reviews about this place. So I decided to see for my self and maybe Id have a better experience. NOPE!!!! As soon as I walked in I was approached by an elderly lady very aggressively. She seemed very annoyed. As if I was interrupting her work. Right off the back we clashed. Everything I said , she would contradict me , as if we were in a debate of some sort. SMH... I don't want to go as far as saying she was prejudice. But I would be lying if I told you I didn't feel that vibe. I noticed after the quotes she was giving me at the store was higher than her online prices. And she wanted to charge a $30 delivery . Mind you I live 3 blocks away !!!! Most other places charge $10... I quickly cut the debate I mean Conversation , and took my business elsewhere. read more

Great service and affordable prices. They're open even on Sundays! Staff helps you unload, plenty of parking in the back.

***DO NOT rent from this place! They will keep your "security deposit" if you don't return on time, even though the receipt doesn't clearly state that. He will tell you, "I will give the deposit back when you return the equipment." NEVER says anything about it being brought back late. And then, he'll try to charge you a full day if you're late on returning. Go somewhere else and save yourself a headache ... read more

Called about a dance floor rental and the gentleman who helped me was very thorough and said to come in to book. When I went in, the woman who was helping me right away went into how bad their dance floor is, how beat up it is and even went as far as to say she keeps a piece of it out so people can see how bad of a condition it is in. What kind of place does that; who displays how bad their rentals are so that people don't rent from them? It would be helpful if the person on the phones just said that they didn't have a dance floor so I didn't waste my time going there and now have to start over. read more

The elderly lady "Kitty" is very aggressive and rude. Not understanding. I had already paid for the astroturf we rented on a Monday. My husband was in the area on Friday and decided to stop by to pick up the astro turf we rented. Because I was at work I failed to give him the copy of receipt, she refused to give him the astro turf. I called her and asked her if she can please accept me faxing over a copy of the invoice and I would sign authorizing my husband to pick up the astro turf. He can provide his identification and he had the 50.00 deposit with him. She refused, very rude told us he had to drive to my location and pick up the receipt and drive back again. And she also told us go ahead and cancel I wont refund your money back! Obviously does not care about customers. Will never do business here again! read more

I have been doing business with this family for over 40 years. There is a reason why I have never bothered to rent for my parties from anyone else. They are friendly, helpful, polite, nice and wonderful. Kitty is the best. What a gal. And, Nick, is simply the nicest of men. Between them they are excellent alone or as a team. Their pricing is competitive, their yard workers are all well-trained and nice. Their location is excellent and convenient. I am frequently a last minute person, they've never turned me away. read more

Watch your deposit!! We rented four griddles for a school fundraiser. Two from Downey Rental, two from another place. They were both equally cleaned. We had no problem with the other company. Downey Rental kept our $100 deposit. I was told two guys had to clean for two days. That is ridiculously unbelievable, especially so, since one of those days was a holiday and they were closed. read more
