It is so difficult to find just the right place for your family. We interviewed several places when…read moreI was expecting our first and each one left me feeling sad and overwhelmed. I thought it was just the hormones, but then I called For Kids Sake. When I called, Julie had me on the phone for over an hour; setting up appointment times to meet, outlining their policies, talking about pregnancy and having small babies. Julie said so many times, "Come meet us... If we're not for you and your family, we are just happy to show you around and show you what's out there." We walked in and I could see each child felt loved. The teachers are keenly aware of the childrens' individual needs. Our daughter is getting ready to join her young preschool friends in a couple months and she is excited. I am excited because she is so well cared for at school. I feel so lucky that she has a place to learn and grow. It's a bonus that she's learned tons of sign language, is singing songs about cleaning up at home, and taking care of her things (like her coat and shoes). I would never hesitate to recommend FKS.

She is writing her name, letters and numbers, and can even teach me some sign language. And I thought I was the teacher! She loves playing with her friends, being a carefree kid, and I love being a carefree parent. I know that no matter what kind of day she may be having, she will be treated kindly, fairly and with compassion. Although she is not old enough to identify why this place is so great, besides the wonderful friends and fun teachers, I can tell that she feels the same way I do since she BEGS me to take her to "her school" each week. With such a great start, her excitement for learning and school will hopefully continue on for many years.

Care is individualized for each child and each child is given a chance to grow and learn in a respectful environment. The kids spend a good portion of the day outside so if you visit and the space seems small it is because they don't spend all day in the building. If it is over 10 degrees they are outside playing. Kids come home exhausted, happy, satiated, and wonderfully dirty. They are fed organic, healthy snacks, and they actually eat them. I almost choked on my coffee when I read the email that my son had asked for extra kale at snack time. Are you serious? It wasn't in chicken nugget form and he ate it? The administrators are working with kids and teachers all day so sometimes it can take a few calls to get questions answered. Don't get discouraged by this. It is worth the effort to get a hold of them and take a tour. As a foster parent I've experienced a lot of daycares and preschools in the area. There is no place in the county that compares to Green Apple.

Jill and Eric are absolutely amazing people and always treat my daughter as an equal and not a "child". They refer to eachother as "friends" and take a very gentle and realistic approach to how they construct their afternoons. Jill and Eric plan activities that involve mostly items found in nature and encourage the children to utilize their imagination to create fun and educational activities. I'm super excited that Green Apple is offering Spanish Immersion at AALC and will definitely be enrolling my daughter in this awesome opportunity. Thank you Green Apple for providing such wonderful care to my precious girl.

****THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE HOWELL LOCATION WHICH DOES NOT HAVE A YELP PAGE****…read more This place used to be better but it has gone downhill. They feed the children fruit for lunch that has been molded, just rinsed off and then served. They only serve unhealthy options for snack which is served twice a day (chips, cookies, crackers). The owner doesn't even allow her child to eat the food that is served there. They do awesome art projects and follow lesson plans, but don't always follow medication instructions. Directors have been over a half hour late to scheduled medicine times to distribute the medicine to the child. The parents are forced to pay for days when the center is closed (holiday's and cleaning days). Some of those days the employees are forced to not work. Therefore it is a complete profit day for the center. Examples include: The Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and New Years Eve. On these days the center is closed, the parents still pay, but the employees don't receive any pay. Some of their teachers are awesome! But there never seems to be a director around to talk to the parents...there's always a wait time when someone is trying to locate a director in the building. If they paid their staff better they would have a full staff of awesome teachers. They are not paid what they deserve for how hard those teachers work everyday. Make your own choice but I know my child will be attending a different daycare.
