The Tawas State Park…read morecampground was closed for renovations, so my husband and I began looking for another spot to camp while enjoying spring birding in this area. Through a Google search, we found this campground. This campground is quiet, exceptionally well-cared for, convenient y located to all Tawas and West Branch attractions and located on a beautiful piece of property. The owners and hosts, Calvin and Jeannie, are wonderful people who will make you feel right at home. Though tent camping sites are available, we decided to splurge and rent a glamping cabin with a king bed. It was the perfect blend of luxury and the rustic feel of being in nature. We enjoyed meandering around the well marked trails and relaxing at the river, just a short walk from the campground. The spring birds were plentiful, allowing a quiet alternative to the more crowded Tawas spots. The glamping cabin was immaculately clean, the bed was firm and the bedding was very nice. The ceiling fan, standing fan and mini heater allow for a comfortable sleeping and relaxing environment. We enjoyed afternoons in the hammock, evening fires and then relaxing in bed streaming our favorite Netflix shows while eating microwave popcorn (we brought the food and technology; microwave, fridge and wifi provided) Every camper knows the sacrifices made while visiting the restrooms and showers. No sacrificing needed here. The facilities are large and super clean. They even smell amazing and are tastefully decorated. We were provided with a golf cart to trek back and forth to the restroom which was appreciated at night. What a treat! The campground is primarily seasonal campers with many sites for RV's and more limited tent camping, with and without utilities. The crowd seems older and quiet though there is a cute little playground and lots of space for kids to explore nature. Our grandson would love fishing from the river. This visit may have been our first but it won't be our last. We almost hate to write this review and risk this gem becoming more popular. Alas, we want the owners to enjoy wild success as they provide such a wonderful place to enjoy nature.

I kind of randomly picked this campsite, I was headed somewhere else when I saw the sign and…read moredecided to take a chance. It really paid off. The campground was clean, the spaces are not cramped together and more than a few have lake views. There is running water, pit toilets, and steps down to the lake, and each campsite has a picnic table, fire ring, and parking spot. A few are against the forest, some are in the middle of the site, and the others kind of by the lake (these were my favorite, nothing like waking up in the morning and looking out on a clear blue body of water). Overall I was very happy with this campground, it seemed underused, which was kind of surprising given the beauty and quietude of the area. My only complain was that it had a lot of yellow jackets that wanted to eat my lunch more than I did. Bring spray or something, you're probably going to want it. Or maybe it was just my site, who knows. You can fish in the lake, it's stocked with trout. The water also seemed very clean, I almost went for a swim (it wasn't that cold either). There is also a day-use area, so you can just picnic or fish if you feel like it. To get here you have to drive down S Stephan Bridge Rd and will then take a left - keep your eyes peeled for the sign. There is also a sign on MI-72 which will point you in the right direction.

This is a very quiet campground with spacious sites that are generously spaced out from one another. Another plus is that it is a small campground with only 19 sites. Campground host, Faith, is very engaging and accommodating. Lots of potential to observe all kinds of wildlife. Overall, this is a quiet campground and if you're seeking some period of solitude this is one is it!

Rules are a little unclear about capacity of each site.... was told originally 2 cars and 6 people per site but later told 6 people / 2 cars / 3 tents ..... then found a sign later that said 8 people to each site (2 cars rule still applies). Meh.. either way we booked two spots because we had 4 vehicles. No big deal.

She said that was her but the woman that answered the phone seemed like she didn't have the time of day for me and also had a really bad attitude. After she treated me this way I would never recommend any family or friends to go there. There is plenty of other campgrounds next to the lake to stay at. The lady that answered the phone needs to learn how to talk and treat potential customers.

The people who did visit didn't stay for long so we had the whole beach to ourselves. We had camping chairs in the car so we just put them in the water and sat right in the water and enjoyed the view. They have a gift shop and the only restrooms I noticed were portajohns. We built some rock towers but put the rocks back when we were done because some of the rocks had snail eggs on them.

I left out around 10:30 or so and didn't hit any trails as I had packed some snacks for late but no breakfast. Not much in the way of restaurants or groceries around here so I hit the road. Can't speak to the trails or day use part of the park but the campground and adjacent beach was beautiful.

He said several times he didn't even want to be there. Then after a couple years things changed. Prices started getting out of hand and the atmosphere, got very tense. The Husband started ranting with the "F" words at campers and in front of kids too. The bathrooms were locked, except two, one woman's and one man's and not cleaned regularly. The porta potties in the back were locked. The happy faces in the pictures of the campground are from the campers who used to be there, not now. Also, they have a mean dog that does not like other dogs. I witnessed their dog attacking other dogs, then they blame it on the campers. Take your business somewhere else you will have a better experience.

Rented a side by side in St Helen for four adults, and had a blast. The sign in was easy, smooth…read more The safety talk was reasonable and provided great advice. The helmets provided were clean and fit well. The staff was great and really took the time to show us the vehicle, the GPS system, and to provide suggested routes that included some great stops for lunch, etc. Their reccommendations really helped us find our way. The GPS system led us through beautiful trails, and some super fun spots to get through. They were chill about dirt on the vehicles, and I saw them cleaning the units after they were returned. We got our security deposit back fast. At check in and check out, they take pictures of the vehicle and we did our own inspection as well. Very sensible process. The units had plenty of power and were very comfortable. The trails are bumpy, of course, but the suspension took most of that out. They give advice about what not to do on the trails, and listen to them. Several spots were trouble, you dont want to roll or break one of these things. The police on their own 4x4 were out on the trails keeping things safe. One tip, be very careful on the roadside, the cars whiz by and hand signals are heavily required. They brief you on all of this so listen! Overall a great rental for a very reasonable price, in an amazing location. We'll be back!
