This is one of the few reviews I write where I wish I could give more stars than just 5…read more This guest house knocks it out of the park in every regard: welcoming and friendly hosts, generosity in appointments, beauty, cleanliness, comfort of beds, high quality linens, warmth, view, shower, and oh my goodness the FOOD--everything was exceptional. This was our favourite place to stay along the West Highland Way, but I would go back to Allt-na-Leven just to spend time enjoying that place again. Highly recommended!

A new conservatory was added that serves as the breakfast room. The views over their gardens and the Highland Perthshire are astounding. But the most amazing aspect is the welcome we received. Louise and Struan clearly love being innkeepers and are exceptionally good at it. A cup of tea and shortbreads were immediately offered. Advice on what to visit and where to eat was comprehensive, along with maps and other aids. They seem to always have time to stop and chat and move on to handle the next task without giving you the feeling that you've been dumped. But the breakfasts! Oh my, the breakfasts! Scrambled eggs with haggis. Porridge with cream and a wee dram of Scotch. Fresh local ingredients, their own home-smoked salmon, smoothie starters with fresh fruit and a bit of porridge as a thickener. Everything was absolutely delightful. To top it off, they have a liquor license and sell two kinds of local beers and 32 different single malts. Although ranked number two in Pitlochry on Trip Advisor, there is nothing second place about this B&B. Highly recommended.

Pretty much regulars here now when me and the Man come up here…read more 1) I love the poached eggs with bacon on muffins for breakfast OR 2) the full scottish if I'm feeling rather peckish! 3) The Back cabins are my first choice - no creeky floor boards and a really spacious bathroom. The Staff are super friendly and helpful. if you need help they are more or less easy to get hold of. The back cabins are nice and private. Pretty cosy too. The house is decorated with stunning photographs and artwork of wildlife - always something new that destracts me! It's good value for money and I will be back soon too - oooh it's pretty close walking distance to shops etc!

We've just returned from our second stay for two nights and enjoyed it as much, if not more, than our first! Our first stay was in one of the chalets at the back of the property which are probably a little more spacious than one of the front bedrooms we stayed in this time around, but never-the-less, both rooms and en-suites are stylishly decorated, very comfortable, well equipped and very clean. The plus to staying in a room (No.5) at the front of the house is that you get a wonderful view of the Cairngorm Mountains a real treat as the sun sets and also again when you open the blinds first thing in the morning! Beds are not as firm as we'd prefer (personal preference I'm sure many like a slightly softer mattress would have no problem at all), but still comfortable and the bedlinen is good quality which all goes a long way towards a very good night's sleep and a restful stay. Breakfast offers a wide choice great range of cereals, fresh fruit, fruit salad, white & wholemeal toast and Jonathan's homemade marmelade try it, it's truly delicious! We also tried the delicious (and none greasy) full traditional Scottish breakfast (with plenty of flexibility to accomodate all diets and tastes!), Poached eggs (eggs not laid by the chickens in the outside pen, but we were confidently assured were local & free range) and smoked salmon on muffins (a lovely, tasty way to start the day!), alternatively the homemade porridge with berry fruit compote, seeds, honey or plain is also a real treat and will certainly set you up for a day's exploring and activity! The lounge with it's open fire (lit in the colder months), cosy rugs, antique style furniture, plus welcoming resident cat Milly(!), make for a great place to relax and chill out either after breakfast or after a day's skiing, hiking or cycling! Overall a very welcoming place to stay in a charming traditional style house which is very restful and relaxing with delicious breakfasts. You couldn't wish for anymore from a B&B!

Breakfast consisted of quality produce just as we wanted, in an attractively decorated breakfast room. When we asked our hosts for information on things to do and see they were very forthcoming and we were grateful for their local knowledge and advice. The Ness Guest House is in a quiet area, close to the town centre, a few minutes walk to the riverside, yet surprisingly speedily accessible off the A9 with off-road parking, lovely house and excellent hosts. I have no hesitation in recommending The Ness Guest House to those looking for a warmly memorable stay in Inverness.

We rented the yurt from the Canopy Under the Stars website - what a wonderful find. Tucked away in…read morethe Cairngorms National Park in the lands of Inshriach, run by the utterly charming Walter and his mother. Upon arrival, we were picked up by aforementioned Walter, driven by landrover through fields to the yurt (a Mongolian tent) - no electricity or running water, but equipped with bed, towels, a cast iron stove, plenty of firewood and coal and crockery to keep you happy for a few days. Staying in a giant tent may not have been the most advisable, but I tell you, rolled up in duvets through a chilly night, listening to the rain.. only to discover that it snowed the night before, and the 'rain' you heard was melting snow dripping from the trees... heavenly. Inshriach house also has larger spaces to rent out for a larger fee (and more people), for weddings and other activities. There is also a folk music festival in its early years hosted here. It's eclectic, and you get the feeling rather bonkers, but in an incredibly friendly way. Go, spread the love, and make some memories amongst the mountains and trees and rivers.
