I was referred here by Gentle Dental Wilsonville when I needed a root canal recently, because the…read moreWilsonville office doesn't have an endodontist. They fit me in same day (usually the case for root canals being done due to pain, in my experience) and I saw Dr. Tarsa, who did an excellent job and also reviewed the x-rays and adjacent teeth to recommend some preventative work that might save grief later. One star off because the arrival interview with the assistant was a little brusque and uncomfortable - I don't mind being asked things I don't know, but when I said I didn't know/remember what she wanted to know she would just keep asking again, 2-3 times, like somehow that would make me remember dental work from years ago better. I was very unhappy with the assistant at that point and wary of the whole thing. However, once the procedure started, that same assistant was friendly, helpful, and capable. She was fine to work with. She just doesn't do the work-up interview very reasonably, apparently.

I am extremely disappointed with the care provided by Gentle Dental - Oregon City location. From…read morethe beginning, the office staff showed a serious lack of professionalism and communication. Questions and concerns were not clearly answered, and there was little to no effort to keep the patient informed at any point during the process. The most troubling issue was the quality of dental care and the complete failure of follow-up. After dental extractions were performed, the work was so poorly done that my mother was forced to seek care from another dental office and an oral surgeon to correct the damage. What should have been a routine recovery turned into a serious medical situation. As a result of complications following the extractions, my mother developed massive liver blood clots, which required another surgical procedure to address the consequences of this botched work. Despite the severity of what occurred, Gentle Dental (Oregon City) never followed up, never checked in, and never made any effort to see if she had questions, concerns, or complications after the procedure. The lack of communication, accountability, and basic concern for patient well-being is unacceptable. Dental providers are expected to care for their patients before, during, and after treatment -- and this office failed on every level. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this location to anyone. -- LL

She comes in, explaining how bad my teeth are after the dentist said everything looked good. All of a sudden I'm drowning and being stabbed like I've never been. I've been going to the dentist 42 years and never been aggressively treated. Telling me to breathe while my nose is running and water is building up in my throat. Im gasping, choking, my eyes are watering, and she keeps telling me "breath!!!!!" I'm drowning and you have zero compassion. The aggression increased as I didn't respond as requested (I couldn't actually breath) She became increasingly frustrated with me in my discomfort, all the while never explaining any part of the machine, the process or giving any information about what she was doing. Have some tact and patience. You are the provider and you do this everyday! I will never return here and encourage you to stay clear.

I would like to start off by saying that for many families dental care is a privilege..and I think…read moreit's important to recognize that many adults and children in our country go without care due to lack of health insurance, poverty, access to resources, etc. My fiancé and I have been together for 10 years and get married in 9 days. He often makes comments about how lucky our kids are..things like family trips, toys, clothing, dentists and doctors, school events, etc. And while our kids have gone to the dentist since age two, he himself has never been his entire life. He has a great job with great health insurance..a privilege that he didn't have access to as a child. I told him he needed to make an appointment with a dentist to get in because mouth health is extremely important, especially since oral health is connected to heart health. He did a quick search on google and decided to try Oregon City Family Dentistry. The woman on the phone was very helpful and patient with him, considering this was his first ever time scheduling an appointment like this. She did her best to get him in as soon as they had possible, working with his work schedule in mind. He went yesterday and they cleaned his teeth, took x-rays, and took any necessary tests, etc. He came home and explained to me how friendly and helpful everyone was. He was extremely embarrassed over the whole thing (imagine for a second), and they never once made him feel put down or inadequate. They welcomed him, did an excellent job explaining things, and were extremely patient, friendly, and caring. He came home very sad and a little shook up over the whole situation because they discovered he has a few issues as a result of having never received dental care..but Oregon City Family Dentistry took away some of his stress and didn't add to it. They explained treatments he'll need coming up and all that. Not to mention in the 10 years we've been together I've never seen his teeth shine and sparkle like they did after they thoroughly cleaned his teeth. They said they wanted to give him the perfect smile for his wedding day..and they did. From my perspective, my family is so important to me and I have tremendous love for them (of course). So I want the best for them..and that includes care from compassionate and capable people in something as personal as health care. This wasn't an easy thing for our family, and I am SO thankful that Oregon City Family Dentistry made this experience as easy as possible. I would recommend anyone to go here because I trust them and even though it seems easy to treat people with respect and kindness, we all know that it's not always found in the real world, but it certainly is found here and that's all I could ask for. And if any staff read this, please accept my deepest THANK YOU.

Why couldn't they tell me this ahead of time with a phone call or text message? I also am dumbfounded at how casually she mentioned it, like it's somehow normal that a dentist isn't available at a dental office. I liked this place a lot when Dr. Allender worked here, but he recently purchased a dental office in Vancouver, WA. Again, they didn't inform me that he had moved on, I found out randomly on my own the other day when I looked at their website. This dental group has definitely gone downhill since he left and I'll be seeking a more professional dental group for next time.

My initial appointment was to remove my broken crown and install the temporary. All went well so far and when I went to my next appointment to have the permanent crown installed I had to reschedule because it was not there due to bad weather. I totally got that with no worries, things happen. Next I was rescheduled and that's where things started going downhill for me. When I got to the new appointment to put on my permanent crown I was in a lot of pain. They were very busy at the time and were pretty dismissive of my insistence that something was wrong. I would have gladly rescheduled and paid for an.x-ray, but instead I was told it was coming from the tooth behind the one they were working on I skeptically took their word on it as well as the antibiotics to clear up the infection. Fast forward another three weeks and I was in excruciating pain. Dr. Cook finally got me in for a x-ray only to find out that I needed to have a root canal on the same tooth that they put the crown on. I was told multiple times before the root canal that they would most likely replace the crown that they just installed for not listening to me. I was pretty appalled when, at the conclusion of the root canal, I was told that it would be left fine filled with filler. Being that I just had a root canal I was not going to argue. Now I am not totally off the hook on my end. I withheld from paying for the last part of the bill with them because the work was not finished. In my line of work if I were to install a new part without addressing the underlying issue and had to destruct the new part when the customer came back to have the underlying issue addressed only to fill it with cement that does not even match the texture or finish there would probably be some issues. I would either replace the part or compensate or discount them for the altered new part. Same concept should apply here, but it obviously did not or I would not be waisting my time writing this.... It has been nearly 2 years now since this occurred and I never once got even a phone call asking why the balance was not being paid. Now they just sent me to collections with no phone contact or even a certified letter. I have no problem paying what I owe, but again I will always feel that the work that I originally went there for has been completed. Long story short, I paid for a new crown and ended up with half a crown and a bunch of filler all because my concerns over the pain that I was feeling was dismissed. I do not think that doing a root canal on a new crown in 3 weeks is a normal thing.
