When Chris and I were looking for a photographer, the obvious and most important thing was that…read morethey would be able to capture our memories in a raw, real, and beautiful way. The second most important thing was that they would have a connection with us, and the people we love and have an understanding of all that we hold dear. Jennifer and her partner Brian not only took the most gorgeous true-to who-we-are photos, but connected with us and so many of our family through their camera lenses. They were so much more than that too... From the beginning, Jennifer was perfectly balanced in her approach with us being professional and attentive yet having a calming, relaxed presence that soothed our nerves when we first took our engagement photos. She really let Chris and I do "US" - only slightly guiding us in our positions to capture the scenery just right or flatter our best features. We knew we had struck GOLD with Jennifer just by the memories made, the fun times, and the overall fantastic experience of the day! When the sneak peaks came out in a few days we felt like me had WON the photography lottery with the stunning pictures she presented us. It was such a relief not having to worry - as far as photography goes - on our wedding day. We had no doubt Jennifer would take care of us and our memories. If it could not get any better, Brian, Jen's photography partner, was a delightful addition to her package and made Chris feel at ease when taking pictures of the groomsmen. The two of them together were a peaceful yet powerful force to be reckoned with, with photos covering the entirety of the day including those special moments that you didn't think were caught on camera - that small tear of joy from a loved one or that goofy face when sneaking a sip of fireball - every moment was perfectly captured. I could go on and on about Jennifer Picard Photography but I will close by saying the photos say it all. Chris and I have the most treasured group of photos of a day we will never forget. Photos of the moments we shared and photos of the things we were too wrapped up to see but are so glad we have. Thank you Jen and Brian for your mindful, and peaceful presences and for your IMMENSE talents in capturing our very special day.

Words fall short to describe how amazing both Jenn and Brian are as human beings and professionals…read more And how much it has meant for us to share and capture the most beautiful day of our lives with them. From the very first moment I got in touch with Jenn through social media, I felt such humanness, genuine care, and kindness that there was no doubt she and Brian were the ones we wanted to capture our wedding with. Even before the wedding was close, Jenn's unconditional presence throughout the whole planning and preparation process was unbelievable. So attentive to every detail and how she could contribute, guide, inspire and support us throughout the whole process. Her great experience with weddings and working in the industry was of enormous contribution, beyond the pictures and video alone. Jenn's great sensitivity and perfect understanding of what we wanted for our wedding day, were key in putting the whole vision and bigger picture together. The day of the wedding when we finally got to meet Brian and Jenn in person, we couldn't have felt more grateful to have had these two amazing human beings with us. There is something so special about them, that immediately we felt so comfortable, so at ease, so well taken care of. Taking pictures with them became just like a game, something so natural, so comfortable, so fun that it just flowed and flowed. And taking the pictures & video became so much more than just posing, but rather a true heart felt magical experience. The pictures from the wedding turned out absolutely stunning. So beautiful. So genuine. So natural. They completely capture the essence of our relationship and our wedding day. We couldn't be more happy and grateful about them. And very very excited to see the video very soon too! Jenn and Brian's divine personalities permeate through everything they do. Not only an extremely talented photography + videography duo, they have become our dearest friends. Its impossible not to love them! If you are planning to get married, I really wish you can have such an amazing experience as we did with Jenn & Brian. They rock!

It's become a bit of a tradition to take family photos when on a vacation to a unique and luxurious location. (See my review Studio 3511 Photography here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/studio-3511-photography-honolulu?hrid=qWiF0G99XOcUeich6zomsg). Heading up to Whistler, I figured it was time once again to capture the family for posterity. It had been two years since our last family photos and while three of us looked more or less the same, The Boy had grown about 15 inches. Funny how that happens. I started my search for a photographer on Yelp (of course) and contacted a photographer who got back to me quickly saying that she was unavailable, but recommending that I get in touch with Darby Magill. Perfect--a personal referral and one from a peer--how could I go wrong? I emailed Darby and she got back to me right away. Over the course a few emails we discussed settings, pricing and other logistics. Darby suggested we meet in Rebagliati Park just a short walk from Whistler Village. From there we could wander and look for interesting settings. That sounded like the perfect plan. We're a causal group and liked the idea of capturing different settings during the hour-long shoot. In her final email Darby wrote "I'm short with a big black bag :)" and sure enough, when we arrived at the park, Darby was easy to pick out from among the tourists. Just as I suspected, the down to earth vibe that I felt in Darby's emails was immediately apparent in person. Safe to say that we all liked and felt comfortable with her from the beginning. Over the next hour Darby snapped shots of us in numerous settings--underneath the large natural growth trees, next to the river, along a walking path and, perhaps my favorite, under a bridge that was painted with fantastic urban art. I appreciated the different poses and angles that Darby explored and the particular attention she paid to the dance of the light that poured through the trees. I honestly have no idea how many pictures Darby took, but the portfolio she uploaded had over unique 60 photos, each presented in color and greyscale. Throughout our hour together we visited with Darby, enjoying learning more about her and her business. The photos themselves are terrific (with perhaps the exception of a certain teenage boy who decided he had something against smiling--so much for that positive attitude check box above.) Still, vibrant imaginative, lovely and fun. Darby provided all of them on an easy to access password protected website so we could review and share and print. A great keepsake from a great vacation and a time capsule of who we all were that summer of 2014.
