I found this place, on Elmwood, thanks to another yelper. This is a small shopfront, with what seems to be a larger space in the back, but its completely closed off so you cant see it at all. However, since parking is on the side street you can see how far back the building goes. As a test I dropped off a large kitchen knife and a pair of sheers, smaller ones, used indoors mostly. The total cost for the two was $9 I think. $3 for the knife and $6 for the small sheers, which need to be taken apart to sharpen. We've been using both for a few weeks now and are pleased. He takes much of February off and heads to FL to see family, which I know because I happened to stop by on a Sat and his last day open was going to be Monday. While this is a store without any frills or perhaps even a welcome mat, it is functional, and the proprietor is pleasant and made this easy. We plan to take other tools here as soon as he is back in town. I'm a fan, seems to be one of two places in the area to get things sharpened, and this one is closer to home for me. Very nice person, and did a good job with sharpening our pole saw, hedge shears and garden shears. We would recommend him for anything that is lawn related and is need for course sharpening. However, we provided him with varying kitchen knives to sharpen; paring knives, Henckell chef knives, bread knife and a large professional butcher knife. Altogether, about 12 knives. They all worked well but were getting dull and needed sharpening. After George sharpened these knives, we could not even cut through a basic lemon. The knives were in worse condition afterwards than before they were sharpened. We do not recommend this service for any kitchen knife sharpening. All our knives were completely dull and unusable in the state they were in. We didn't reach out regarding our disappointment, as we felt that if you are claiming you sharpen knives and have such great reviews online, then, we would expect the job to be done properly the first time. We could accept if it was only one or two knives that weren't sharpened properly, but all of the ones he handled were dull and worse than originally provided to him to sharpen. In all honesty, our knives are expensive and we didn't want to waste our time again. We have since found an alternative person who did an amazing job resharpening them and will use him moving forward.

I waited till June to reorder when it was on sale again. I joinedAce rewards and got an extra discount. It came to just under $500. I believe the non sale price was $700. I was told it would be in just after 4 July. They took my info and wrote it and the price on a piece of paper. My husband went in a couple weeks later and they said next week. I called about a week and a half ago and they said it was in but they couldn't call me because they "lost" the paper with my number on it. When my husband went to pick it up he was told the sale was over and it was now the regular price! I called and said I didn't understand why I didn't get the sale price since it was them and Toro that advertised without enough stock. He call me back and said he's give it to me for $600 something. Still more than $100 more than I was quoted. The lady that was there when I went in remembered me and the situation but referred me to the owner. I didn't buy it and as much as I prefer to support local , which was why I went there in the first place , I will never buy anything more than a can of bug spray from them. I have an ACE near my work. I'm not even sure I will buy a Toro, but, we had luck with an old gas mower but wanted to upgrade to a battery powered one. I don't believe they "lost" the paper, I'm just mad that I didn't screenshot it, but, I doubt it would have mattered.
