My daughter is studying in Rome and got sick last night and ended up in a hospital in Rome. I'm…read morenot sure what is wrong yet but I had some questions so I called the US Embassy in Rome. They gave me Dr. Spelar's contact info. He answered the phone himself, was MORE than gracious about talking with me, offered to stop by and visit her in the hospital tonight when he's there anyway and didn't want my insurance info when I asked him if he'd like it. He then offered to call me back after he sees her and talks with the Italian doctor (who has also been very nice). He seems very kind, genuine, helpful and like a very caring person. I felt infinitely better knowing that he is going to check in and give me American medical advice.
