I was so lucky to have come across the Do's and Dye team! From the first message, Julie and her team were responsive, kind, well-priced for the area, and super accommodating. Planning a wedding across the country proved difficult at times, and Do's and Dye made the "glam" experience for my celebration such a breeze! As a bride, this was my first experience with an updo and professional makeup, and I was so sad to take off my face/hair at the end of the night. Felt so beautiful and especially grateful to have gotten paired with Abbey and Becca- would recommend all of their services wholeheartedly! Truly no idea how they kept this face and waves solid in the August humidity (witchcraft? insanity!). And not to mention the hair... I ended up having a change of heart from our initial hair trial -- bridal nerves -- and Abbey ran with the idea of a party pony without question. She CRUSHED IT!! So many compliments, and I was so happy to feel like an elevated version of myself in our final look. Such talented artists on this team! Thank you all SO much for making 8/16/24 so wonderful. :) read more

Strap in, it's a long one. I waited until after my wedding to write this review so I could give it the attention it warrants. I was incredibly surprised at my experience with this business given how highly rated they are. Ultimately, I chose different artists who gave me the quality and longevity I needed and could not have been happier that I didn't use Do's & Dye. I can assure you this is my honest experience. If you expect high-performance bridal execution, please read this warning. I worked with Julie, who I noticed struggled to achieve the look I was going for. I'm a natural brunette with very long medium-thick hair. She stated I didn't need extensions despite recommending them to all her other brides. Styling ran late, cutting into my makeup trial time. While the look was fine initially, pins slipped out, my hair frizzed, and the style completely fell flat within hours of just sitting at home waiting for an event. Despite charging a premium $400 for the trials, the MUA used a basic drugstore product ($15 e.l.f. halo glow) for my base. But still, I trusted the execution to pull through. The appointment lacked an in-depth consultation, and when I asked the MUA for her thoughts on my inspo pics, she replied, "I don't know, you need to tell me" as if to say "It's your wedding, why are you asking me?". Obviously I know that but I was just looking for some positive feedback on what I was going for. Getting home, the makeup separated & creased badly within hours. While in both chairs, I did give initial feedback to the artists but ultimately told them that I loved the looks. I can own up to that. However, when I politely reached out days later with feedback to ask about switching MUAs or rethinking the hair approach, the owner took zero accountability. She deflected, blamed me for touching my hair (which I only did to fix falling pins), and insisted I retrial with the exact same artist and new inspo photos. Her tone was dismissive and entitled. Since a bridal trial is meant to test wear before the big day and we were 3+ months out, I chose to terminate my contract due to the poor trial longevity and owner's response. The owner was more concerned with defending herself/her staff and using my initial in-chair reaction against me than addressing the quality issues. Her contract completely lacked a total cancellation policy so she is withholding my entire $1,250 deposit (which was a 50% deposit for services for myself and 6 others) and refusing to offer even a fair partial refund to cover just the trial session. She was likely re-booked that day for services & able to recoup at least some funds while I'm out my entire deposit for no services rendered other than a trial. P.S. Be prepared for a content creator to record you in the chair. I agreed to be filmed but wish I hadn't. Having a camera held in your face creates MASSIVE pressure to act enthusiastic about a look you're trying to convince yourself you love. The owner later used those exact in-chair videos to invalidate my written feedback. If your hair type falls outside the narrow demographic featured on their instagram, her techniques likely aren't equipped for you. Save your peace of mind and money if you're looking for luxury services. She conveniently only accepted cash, check, or venmo, meaning your deposit could be a complete loss. Look elsewhere. read more

I've been going to Julie for 3 years since she did my hair and my wedding party's hair, and I cannot recommend her and do's and dyes enough! Julie and Abbey are absolutely amazing at coloring and styling! I very much appreciate how Julie takes time to hear/see my goals and then walks me through her plan for achieving certain looks. She also helps me understand how to work toward my hair goals while keeping my hair healthy. I always leave feeling in love with my hair. Added bonuses: Julie and Abbey are so fun to hang with during my appointments and the salon is adorable with the absolute best vibe! read more

After botching my hair and making it super brassy, I scheduled an appointment for color correction at Do's & Dye. It was a product that I have used in the past with no problem but I went too heavy and too light in areas, very brassy with uneven color. I really needed help from someone who knows what they are doing. I eagerly awaited my appointment, not wanting to leave the house until it was fixed. I waited for a few days to see Julie's colorist Abbey. After calmly and thoroughly discussing the options for my hair with Julie and Abbey for 45 minutes, I raised concerns about starting from a place that was much darker than my normal dirty blond for them to build on. They wanted to start with a brown (I'm a natural dirty blond with most of this still left on the ends) I was willing to pay $400+ to get this done and leave with my hair darker (as it truly needs to be) as long as I was also able to still have some strong highlights to make sure I didn't leave feeling like a brunette (which I am not and have never been nor do I wish to be (No offense brunette sisters, it's just not my natural thing). The conversation progressed in such a way that Julie refused to even try because she convinced herself that I wouldn't like it no matter what they did. Instead, I left in tears and I have a wedding coming up that I now can't attend because of the timing. I wasted my time waiting for this appointment so now I have no idea what I can do, short of shaving my long tresses. On top of this, you never know what someone is going through. This is my first time out of the house in over two years. I have been taking care of my beautiful mom who is battling pancreatic cancer, away from my children and boyfriend and home in Florida. I have not had time for proper self care and I wanted to do something nice for myself, feel beautiful again, I messed up my hair and these people refused to help me because they assumed I wouldn't like it, when quite literally anything would be better than the orange. I am appalled that she refused to even try. There was no anger and nothing at all heated, as that isn't my nature, but to say I was beyond disappointed is a massive understatement. It was unheard of. I am truly so upset with how Julie handled this and she literally told me to go to SALLY'S and get a #9 toner! I never hope to leave a bad review and based on the good reviews and pictures on her profile, I thought she and Abbey would be someone good enough and confident enough to help me. She had seen a photo of my hair failure prior to my coming in and truly wish she had simply told me she can't fix it. I would have found someone who can. I am so upset and do not recommend this company and if you need blond color correction, beware because they apparently don't feel confident enough to clean up any messes. read more

In 2017 I finally relinquished control of my hair and placed it in the most talented blonde artist in Connecticut. Previously I pretended to know what I was doing by constantly changing colors via box dye (SHUTTER) and even bleaching kits available at Sally's. Years of build up of this abuse was now Julie's canvas. She took into consideration all these factors and the BLONDE AF end result I was looking for all while explaining this will take time as to not further damage my already sensitive strands. This has been a committed relationship and I've never been so happy with my hair. We are now to a point of maintenance where at every visit has the most consistent result giving the illusion, I was born with it *winky face* read more

I worked with Julie for my wedding and she was nothing short of AMAZING. From the moment we initially started chatting about my vision I knew she was a great fit. She is so friendly, relaxed, and an absolute expert at what she does. I had 2 hair trials (I'm indecisive) and each experience was great. When the wedding day came she was timely, professional, a great hype girl, and exceeded both my bridesmaid and mine expectations. I went with a party pony and braid for my style and she nailed it. I can't recommend Julie enough!! read more

I love Julie's work! I recently hired her to do hair for my wedding (three bridesmaids, two moms and myself). Every one of us has different thickness and length of hair, but she was able to work with each of us - some got curls, some braids, some lighter waves and some partial up-do's. Julie can do it all! Julie came on-site to my venue to do our hair and brought everything - down to the hair chair - with her. She made it incredibly relaxed and easy on my wedding day. I enjoyed working with Julie so much that I scheduled a follow-up haircut with her that came out great! I'll definitely be a regular client of hers - my next appointment is already scheduled! Additionally, for weddings, Julie often works with Samar Elias (Makeup by Samar) and they make a great team! read more

Do's & Dye Salon - Bridal hair from my wedding by Julie! - Hair Stylists Near Me - Wethersfield, Connecticut

I had the pleasure of working with Julie for my wedding and I cannot say enough great things! She truly is so talented at what she does. She also really takes the time to work with you to make sure your bridal look is exactly what you wanted. Her down to earth personality makes you feel at ease from the planning process all the way to the big day. She is highly organized and made sure that my large bridal party would be done on time, if not ahead of schedule! Julie fit right in with my bridal party and it was so fun celebrating with her that morning! She also was able to work with the style for each bridesmaid and the mothers of the bride/groom. She pulled off exactly what they were each looking for. I highly recommend Julie for every bride, she is the best! read more

I'm so lucky I was able to work with Julie for my wedding! I'm not the best planner, so I thought anything other than a company who did both hair and makeup together would be too unwieldy in logistics and communication for me to handle. But I was so wrong. From quick emails, paying through Venmo, sending inspiration from Pinterest, scheduling a trial-- all of it was so easy with Julie. And I think the best part was how genuinely excited she is for you the whole time, from the first time she saw a picture of my dress to flipping through all the pictures afterward. And then ALSO our hair looked totally fabulous! I even told Julie afterward that she made it so secure that it was as beautiful at 2am as it was at 3pm. Okay and the last thing I'll say is that getting ready actually might not have been as fun without her :) read more

I hired Julie as my wedding hair stylist. She did hair for my maid of honor, my mother, my MIL, and me. I had my wedding in CT but I live in Virginia, so I hired her without first meeting her. Julie was flexible with scheduling a hair trial for me just two days before the actual wedding day since I was coming from out of state. I sent her several pictures of hairstyles that I liked and she did a fantastic job coming up with a style that was just like I had envisioned. On the wedding day, Julie traveled to the hotel where we were staying and getting ready. She arrived on-time and finished up with plenty of time to spare. She did an up-do for my maid of honor and blowouts for the moms. Everyone's hair looked great. Her prices are also very reasonable. I was very pleased with Julie's work and I highly recommend her! read more

I had left beauty planning for my wedding till pretty last-minute, and Julie was an absolute hero and managed to squeeze me in on a busy wedding weekend and make it work. I'm absolutely in love with the hairstyle she gave me and my maid-of-honor. She listened to exactly what we wanted and totally delivered. I have curls and often find that stylists try to tame or straighten them in a way that doesn't feel like me, but Julie totally embraced them and did something beautiful. I cannot recommend her enough! read more

Ruined hair and refused to fix the mess she made, and refused refund. Charged $275 for an "ombré" that is literally a dark root section, clear line and then blonde section. Owner of studio also won't do anything about it. Disgusted. read more

It was so much fun having her while getting ready, she fit right in! Everyone's hair came out exactly how they wanted it and lasted the entire night! Julie is so flexible and can do anything, we even made some last minute changes to my hair even though we had a trial. Julie's work speaks for itself, she is the best! read more
