It's a great B&B, very well located, run by a delightful couple who are 100% focussed on meeting your needs and showing huge hospitality. Great breakfasts, excellent, clean rooms with ensuites, and a little outdoor sitting area for guests. Close to two magnificant beaches, 2 mins walk from a superb local pub, a few hundred yards from the coastal walk, and 35 mins drive from the Eden project. A great place to stay. HIGHLY recommended.

Lovely location overlooking the Camel estuary and the sea. Well maintained gardens. Two good restaurants, the main one in the hotel, and a poolside cafe. Service was good. Rock is nearby, and there is the foot ferry over to Padstow. Hotel is close to the coast path, for walks to the surf beach at Polzeath, or to the huge sands of Daymer bay in the other direction. It's quite a windy spot so bear that in mind when pitching. It takes about 20 minutes to walk down to the beach along part of the South west coast path. I imagine the site gets busy in Summer but at Easter it isn't too busy at all, and we have had good weather 2 years in a row.

Definitely the best Bed and Breakfast I've had the pleasure of staying at, Bankside Bed and…read moreBreakfast had everything you could hope for including very friendly and helpful hosts, silky soft bedding, a spacious wardrobe with plenty of windows, good bathroom facilities (with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel), hair dryer, drinking water as well as a kettle, plus the whole building is homely and well presented and smells nice and clean. All in all I really felt like a welcome and appreciated guest and I got the sense that the hosts took pride in their local area and in inviting you to their home, which makes such a huge difference. They even had maps and transport timetables available and helped to make a dinner reservation. The place is also conveniently located within 15-min walking distance of St. Austell rail and bus station.

The patrons ran it like a friendly home and went out of their way to help with anything you needed. The rooms were clean, airy and nicely decorated and the ensuite was faultless (how many bathrooms have you seen that had somewhat questionnable cleanliness...., well this was not one of them!). If you are lucky, you'll even get the room with the stunning sea view. The breakfast was delicious and you could choose from local smoked haddock, full English or continental all served in their garden-facing breakfast room. The owners even went the further mile to catering for my partner with Coeliac-friendly items. The rooms had a TV/DVD combo and you could "rent" DVDs from their selection for 50p a night, which was a nice touch. The location is fantastic (walking distance to the seafront) but just at the edge of town, meaning you don't have to navigate the windy roads further into St Ives, which can be tricky sometimes. There is also parking available for guests (which can be a rarity in St Ives). Would definitely recommend. Thanks for a lovely stay!

We stayed at the Hunters Moon for 2 nights in mid August 2010 and occupied 2 rooms…read more The place is immaculately clean and decorated to a high standard. The rooms are spacious and the en-suite was probably the best I have seen. The place was apparently gutted when the owners bought it and the whole room/wall layout was purpose designed to be a guest house upstairs. I felt safe (fire-doors everywhere and smoke detectors etc), comfortable and the location is a peaceful as you could hope for. Prices, well they were above average but you get what you pay for. Breakfast was delicious and very healthily prepared (minimum of oil) The owners are clearly very house proud indeed and this is something you need to remember. When we arrived, Richard (owner) gave a very thorough briefing of how it all worked there - very thorough indeed and perhaps excessively so (arguably to the point of patronising) as we have just arrived from a 5 hour drive and were exhausted and really didn't need to know there was a spare shower hat under the sink (I am bald anyway!). It was clear Richard had rules and high expectations of guests to the point that it started to feel like a schoolmaster/pupil arrangement and were were nervous and doing anything for fear of being told off. This latter point was my one reservation that may make me consider staying elsewhere in future as I like to relax more. This said, they couldn't do enough for their guests and were almost intrusively keen to help on routes to take, places to go etc. The latter points are what took away one star in my rating.

They have hot showers, outlets to plug in your blow dryer (it's cold, even in the summer, so air-drying hair may not be the best option), and clean restrooms on site. Make sure you bring a grill and warm sleeping bags.
