All American Cards and Comics in downtown Warren isn't just a comic shop--it's a piece of hometown history, built and maintained by the unofficial mayor of Warren himself, Greg Bartholomew. Though it's changed locations slightly over the years, it's still planted firmly in the heart of downtown Warren, and the magic (no pun intended) has never left. If I were to open my dream comic shop, it would look just like this one: a charming old brick façade opening into a space packed wall-to-wall with everything a fan could dream of--Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon, action figures, Funko Pops, D&D manuals, tabletop games, and comics galore. And we're not just talking modern comics--this place is loaded with back issues from the Bronze Age, Silver Age, and even Gold, not to mention pristine wall books in glass cases that will stop you in your tracks. The Alex Ross prints decorating the walls are just the cherry on top. If you ever get the chance to peek into the back room--do it. It's a treasure trove of books that haven't hit the shelves yet or are prepped for upcoming cons. Greg knows his stuff and keeps the shop stocked and vibrant. New comic book day every Wednesday? The store offered many categories of fiction and nonfiction hardcover and paperback books and some audiobooks. The prices were alright, and customers could get discounts if they purchase multiple books of certain types. Of course, small, local bookstores such as Mr. Bookman are up against the large online bookstores, but you just might find something that you like here.

Stopped at Second Chances Antique Gallery in Warren to see what interesting things I could find…read more From the outside it Second Chances doesn't look like much, but once you get inside it is impressive; there are 3 rooms of a wide variety of stuff. Lots of variety, collectibles, antiques, instruments, toys, and just about anything you could be looking for. Talking to the owner I found out that he had recently bought out the previous owner and was getting things organized and cleaned up. I was impressed with the wooden masks and assorted carvings they had; most were very high quality and vintage. The back room has a wide variety of items, from the usual flea market trinkets to really nice items. I found a really cool walking stick with a hatchet head, it was unpriced and the owner was great about negotiating a fair price. Overall I was very impressed with the variety and selection at Second Chance, well worth the drive. The new owner was very friendly and willing to deal. If you are looking for something vintage or antique go and check them out.

Adam's Action Figures & Comics ( Adam Sabol ) in Rootstown, Ohio…read more Located right off Route 76 and Route 14 in Rootstown, Ohio, Adam's Action Figures is one of those magical places that looks modest from the outside, but once you walk in, it's like stepping into a wonderland of toys, comics, and nostalgia. This shop has something for everyone. I've had the pleasure of watching this shop grow from the very beginning. In fact, I was Adam Sabol's first customer when he opened, and my dollar bill still hangs on the wall to this day. It's been amazing to watch how far the shop has come -- it's a full-blown collector's paradise. Every inch of the store is filled with something cool -- from carefully displayed, carded figures lining the walls to bins and bags of treasure waiting to be dug through. The chaos is part of the charm, and yet somehow everything feels just right. If you're into DC, Marvel, Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, G.I. Joe, Star Wars, or pretty much any toy line that ever meant something, odds are you'll find it here. Adam himself is one of the best parts of the experience. He's incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the hobby, always down to chat about comics, toys, or the state of the industry. He gets new comics in weekly and is constantly updating his stock with fresh CGC-graded books and recent collections -- so the inventory is always evolving. Beyond toys and comics, the shop also carries nostalgic items like t-shirts, lunchboxes, comic supplies, and more. Tons of comics, and a nice selection of Funko Pops. But what really impressed me was their collection of action figures. I love collecting Pops and action Figures. And I could have easily dropped hundreds here. If I had planned ahead and brought more money, I probably would have. If you are an action figure collector, or a comic book collector, this is a great place for you to check out.
