Ed came out and gave me a quote that was close to 40% higher than my other bid. I Shared with him the Bid the other company had quoted. Ed returned with a quote right around the same as the other company. When I called to find out what type of door he was actually quoting me he never returned the call . I had decided to go with overhead garage door as they were the best bid and seemed the most professional. I received a message from Ed's office asking if there's any further questions. I decided to give them a call to see if they could answer my question on what door they were quoting. When the lady in the office was calling Ed across the room, she forgot to mute the phone and I heard Ed bad mouthing me, saying I was a time waster. Obviously, I didn't choose them, and I couldn't recommend them. The only time that was wasted is me trying to communicate with them and listening to Ed's long winded bullshit sales pitch. Ended up using overhead garage door a long time, Santa Barbara Company with an office downtown. Sorry, Ed, you shouldn't badmouth people, especially behind their back if you have something to say, say it to their face. I'm sure you'll write some long bullshit thing about how I wasted your time. Your time was really wasted because you didn't get the job. Good Riddance read more

Great company. Easy to work with. Friendly workers from the same family. Fair prices. Doors Are Us installed 8 garage doors for our small condominium complex recently. All of us were very satisfied with the work and the workers. read more

Excellent family owned company and service. Will definitely go straight to Door Are Us when I need anything related to my garage door!

tl;dr: You literally couldn't pay me to do business with Ed or Doors Are Us again. Run from them like your life depends on it. The biggest mistake of our entire rebuild was signing a contract with them. We were put in touch with Ed by our General Contractor as part of our rebuild after the Thomas Fire in Ventura. Ed talks a good game in person. He made it sound like he could get us the door we wanted within our budget and had a range of options for us to choose from. We showed him pictures in person and sent additional pictures to help him find the right door. We wanted the standard black metal garage door with glass inserts. After leaving, he eventually sent us a quote for the door at more than double our budget. We asked for the lower cost options he mentioned and he started backpedaling. After two months of non-productive back and forth with his barely legible emails, I asked our builder one last time: does this guy know what he's doing as it had been a rough road. He said yes so I signed. The delays in getting us a quote for something close to our budget meant we were left without a door for nearly two months. We put up a plywood door, but still had one of our windows stolen from our garage. There's nothing like having a brand new home and a plywood door to make it feel like home. Thanks for that. The installers made a mess of the garage which already had our stuff in it. They left construction debris and as a special bonus, spit sunflower seed shells in our entire garage and around much of the front of the house. Two of the guys were clearly just laborers hired for the day. The door we received is nothing like the photos we sent. It looks much more like a standard garage door with glass cutouts in it. When we brought it up to Ed, he said that everyone else he talked with loves it. That would be great if they were willing to pay for it. As the icing on the cake, a week after the install, he came by the house unannounced to bully me into giving him a check. Avoid Ed and this company like your life depends on it. Get model numbers and pictures if you're already locked in with them. Get everything in writing and pictures. Glad to be done with these guys. read more

We held off writing a review when our doors were installed because we were just grateful the ordeal was over. Missed appointments, call-after-call not returned, employee excuses, drama, stories, etc. But after calling for a service request, we see nothing has changed. Poorly run and unprofessional owners. Run from this place unless you enjoy Chinese Water Torture. read more

The sales people at Ranch House doors referried Ed to me. I'm a general contractor in the Ojai area. Ed showed up 25 minutes late to our one and only meeting. His quote was misleading. He was talking to my customer behind my back. He was trashing his competition. And then he disappeared. If this is what he meant when he told me over and over how he "spoils" the contractors he works for, I'll pass. read more

Ed has installed doors and/or motors on 4 different homes for us. He has helped relatives whom I told to call. Everytime we have been completely happy with His service, pricing , and everyone has been completely satisfied. I'm sure everyone can have a bad day. He started on my first home in 2004 and He came recommended by my Architect who is very fastidious about the quality of work. He has always met my expectations and helped us to upgrade our choice several times with value engineered options. You owe yourself to give Ed a shot. His family is great and like us you can join the family. Competitive, quality, and charm all rolled together. read more

Do you ever return phone calls? I've left 3 messages I had you install a garage for us about 15 years ago. I'm buying a new house and it's needs a garage door. Hoping to get you back because the great job you did. However I've left 3 messages and no call back. What if my door needed service? Not sure I want to do anymore business with a company that won't call me back read more

They did a great job installing our new garage door opener in Santa Barbara. They communicated promptly, showed up on time and removed our old opener and took it away. I ordered our opener in the millworks department of Goleta Home Depot and I ordered installation with the door opener. The installer was Ed Paquette, was license# 717288. I am very happy with this company and I will use them in the future read more

This is the second garage door that Ed and his son have installed for us. They are a great team and the doors they install are absolutely gorgeous! The door was ordered quickly and installed within a few weeks. It has enhanced the comfort and aesthetic of our garage and has kept it cooler in the heat. It is worth the money to order your door pre primed so the paint will go on easily. Doors Are Us is a family owned and run business and I think you will very happy with your garage door if you order from them. Thanks Ed and family! We love our door! read more

See all

They were excellent in their attention to detail, and our garage doors are now in great shape!

Garage Door needed replacement and got a referral to Ed as well as a few others. Ed came out to do the quote and get the conversation started and went through different options to choose from. Quote came fast, and changes I requested were updated just as fast. Just like any good business owner Ed is gonna give you his input on what will look good and you will be happy with since I'm sure he's dealt with it all. Had it been left to me, I would have gotten a basic garage door I could live with, but Ed showed me different options to give me a better idea and we found one that was perfect. Install appointment was set a couple weeks out and his son, Ed showed up on time to do the install. Ed was very organized and very polite. Install was completed pretty quickly as well as clean up. Ed walked us through the operation functions in detail to make sure we understood how the new system worked. Would recommend them to anyone looking for a garage door. read more

Doors Are Us - Garage Door Services Near Me

Ed says "The Motor & Door was purchased by the Seller, to close the sale. (not the person writing this review)" The door was bought by the sellers, and put in MY name for this very reason. When I first called your wife couldn't find it under their names, but instead found it under my name. So it was in my name, the file WAS IN MY NAME when I had called. take your iphone and take a nice high quality picture and send it to me. Also, I didn't wait a year, as I detailed, I called you guys in the end of janurary, over a month away from the year warranty. Your guy inspected it on feburary 7, and said it was a defective unit, and had me send him the numbers on the plate. And what is this data plate on the motor? the only Date listed on the motor is 11/27/2012. That is the manufacture date. The manufacturer doesn't know when the product is installed. They wouldn't put a date on when the product was installed. the bottom line is, the product was put in my name, Sherry found it in my name. The product was installed march 2013. I called you in janurary 2014, and your guy stated that it was defective on feburary 7th. That IS NOT A YEAR, it is 11 months from the time your guy said it was defective. please message me or tell me the contact person you spoke with and the number you called for the warranty so I can call them as well. Thanks read more

We wanted our garage door serviced so we called them. They were supposed to be at the house at 1:00 PM. They called at 1:40 and we set up a new time for after 3:00. They never showed up or called. I will never contact them again. read more

Asked for them to come look at receiver for remote on garage opener and told them what the brand was as well as the remotes worked. They put in a new receiver ($50) and two new remotes which they charged $116 (online $30 each) mind you I did not ask for new remotes. In putting the cover back on it was over tightened and broke the plastic so it cannot be put back on. Charged $140 to come out which they did not tell me before hand. Needless to say I ended up with a new receiver(x), two subpar remotes(worse than the originals), a broken cover and a $376 bill. read more

I had an emergency situation with a broken spring in my garage door three days before the sale of my house was final. Doors are Us was there immediately, ordered the part, and had the door working again before escrow closed. Very pleasant and helpful. It was a little pricey, but considering the unexpected emergent situation I was in, was happy to find such pleasant professionals! read more

Garage door broke over the weekend. Ed came out on Monday and repaired it quickly and efficiently. Great experience! Definitely would recommend. read more

3 hours late!!! I had to call THEM to find out when they'd actually come. Stuff happens, but if they cared about customer service the would have kept me informed. They said they would be here at 8:30, then at 8:30 they called saying they would be an hour late. Then 2 hours later, I CALLED THEM to find out why no one had shown and was told they had a flat tire! Really?!? It takes professional repairmen 3 hours to change a tire? I smell BS. Then they leave for lunch within the 1st hour! UPDATE: To the person emailing me because my profile says I'm in Burbank, this was for fixing a garage at my family's house in Camarillo. Oxnard to Camarillo shouldn't be asking too much since they advertise they service that area. In response to the owner's comment; Why don't they change their policy to call the customer and inform them? Why are they going to be obnoxious and give windows of time instead of just having the person in the office give a quick call to the customer? I guess logic isn't on their side. As I customer, if they had just informed me I would have been much happier. Stuff goes wrong, I get it. I've had bad days, but I would never be 3 hours late to work without calling my boss to let him know what's going on when to realistically expect me. I could have used the 3 hours to get work done, not sit around waiting for them. read more

I really appreciated how on top of everything Ed was for us! My contractor was also very impressed with the responsiveness, accuracy, and expertise this company demonstrated throughout my entire process. Every step of the way Doors Are Us was fabulous. I shopped around several companies prior to selecting them. They were the most helpful during my design process. Both my contractor and I have highly recommended them to others. Very pleased with Ed and his team! read more

Stay away from this business. They installed a defective garage door in 2012 and I have tried for 2.5 years to get them to replace it. I finally filed suit in small claims court and won. In the mean time I had to pay for a new door with a different company. Even before he installed the original door the service was terrible. Unfortunately I had already paid a deposit. Do not do business with Ed Paquette and Doors are Us. You will regret it!! read more

Ed was a nice guy Sherry was very nice on the phone they stated they were going to charge me $140 plus any additional parts. Ed came put together a loose wire on the eye sensor and reprogramed the garage door opener and remotes. No additional parts required. Final bill was $280 which is ridiculous I tried to bargain with him he didn't come down a penny, oh well lesson learned.... they just lost me as a customer.... enjoy. read more

Fraud! They did the work as described. I was trusting enough to give them my credit card number over the phone. They told me they were charging me $380. When the bill came, I discovered that they charged me $452. Now their phone is disconnected. I'm stuck. read more
