Yelp Review 2026 #146:…read more There are videos on social media going around claiming this McDonald's in Zermatt is the most expensive McDonald's in the world. This is actually not true. Prices are the same in Switzerland. Switzerland has the most expensive McDonald's in the world. What's unique about this location is that it blends in with its surroundings instead of being a stand alone building with bright lights. This looks like a Swiss cabin/ chalet. We came here at 1:30pm and you'd think it would be less busy because it's a bit after lunch. But it was still busy. No seats/ tables available on the first floor so, we had to go upstairs which is dark but quiet. At the basement is the bathroom. Of course, I tried menu items we don't have in the US from the sauces to the sandwiches and drinks. I tried the mango passionfruit drink. It was awful. It tasted nothing like mango or passionfruit. I got shrimps which I first had in McDonald's Greece. The food was typical McDonald's - nothing I'd order again. The best part was the building itself.

You order at a machine and they didn't even call a number when the orders were ready, so you just had to watch the counter. The fries were completely cold. The paprika burger was also cold and so disgusting that I didn't eat most of it. I know I don't eat fast food often, but this definitely reminded me of why I don't. The Nutella doughnut was the best part but only gets this to 2 stars. If you're trying to save money in Zermatt by eating a slightly cheaper meal, just go to Coop/Migros.

Yelp Review 2026 #126:…read more I go to McDonald's in every country I visit to try things we don't have in the US. When I went to McDonald's in Switzerland, they had World Menu Heist - menu items from countries around the world. They had empanadas from Chile, a chicken teriyaki burger and Sakura Sprite from Japan, etc. I went to this location close to Interlaken West on a Sunday because the restaurant I planned on going to for lunch was closed. I was going to try the empanadas but they didn't have them. The Swiss menu also had Nutella doughnuts, McPops (doughnut holes with filling), Biscoff McFlurry, some locations have Nutella sundae, Cailler sundae, and a cheese truffle dipping sauce. I ordered from the kiosk since I don't speak the 3 official languages in Switzerland. I got the chicken teriyaki burger, fries, cheese truffle dipping sauce, and a Biscoff McFlurry. My sister wanted to try Swiss McDonald's too so, we went for dinner. Still no empanadas and they ran out of the cheese truffle dipping sauce! I got nuggets, popcorn McFlurry, and fries. My sister got a chicken sandwich, fries and Biscoff McFlurry. Her McFlurry had waaay more Biscoff than what I got from lunch! No quality control. Booo!!! This is the only McDonald's in Interlaken so, it gets busy.

We ended up here by a stroke of luck --- the restaurant we were aiming for wasn't open for dinner…read moreyet, and after a round of overstuffed pitas at the Pittaria, I don't see how it could have compared. The owner is really the centerpiece of the place --- friendly, conversant in several languages, and happy to tell how he followed the girl of his dreams to Switzerland 30+ years ago. (The only other staff member we met has an annoying affinity for loud vacuum cleaners). Rolling in post-hike on a Saturday, the owner mentioned he was out of several fillings; in particular, the eggplant-and-peppers Betenjan that grabbed my eye first wasn't available. That turned out to be fine, as the standards he did have were excellent. Our group ended up with a mix of lamb Shish Kebab, veggie Falafel, and simple Hummus. All were heavily laden with extras --- veggies, lettuce, a sweet chutney that nicely complemented the main flavors, and hot sauce to order. The hummus and falafel options are variations on a theme --- either a large scoop of hummus and two falafel balls, or 6+ falafel balls and a small dollop of hummus. The lamb in the shish kebab is in large, tender chunks, and nicely roasted. The bread is much more substantial than many pitas --- more of a crusty roll, but so filled with goodies that the ratios are still right. Drinks are fairly standard --- a few beers and sodas, boxed Ayran yogurt drink, and a giant urn of oddly spiced tea by the glass. Definitely a must-eat for a day around Solothurn.
