I was invited to meet a friend at this place but didn't have high expectations. Checked their menu online and it looked like just another Italian restaurant with simple pizza and pastas on the menu. But then, you never know what hides behind simplicity which is sometimes the best.
The restaurant interior looked cozy with a pizza oven at the entrance to welcome you. Apparently they brought it from Italy and it's a special type but forgot the name
As the weather was great we sat outside on their lovely terrace. The decor resembled like a sea side beach bar. We ordered some house wine to start out our night with and bruschettas with aubergine paste. The wine was chilled which is not my favourite way to serve red wine but it didn't ruin the flavour in the end. The bruschettas come 3 per portion but are quite big with alot of topping (aubergine with grilled cheese and a cherry tomato on top). Very tasty.
As main I took the Melanzane alla Parmigiana. The dish came in a cast dish and right out of the oven. The tomato salsa was very delicious. Mixed with melted cheese and one can tell it's home made. The aubergines though weren't fried or cooked before going to the oven which made them a bit chewy. However, the taste was there.
When we asked for the desert they didn't bring us the menu; they brought a tray full of different deserts to chose from. I took the Creme bruleé which was very light, perfect ending to the warm summer night dinner. read more
