If you are looking for an oral surgeon, he should be your first choice. He is patient, kind and experienced. You have many choices for sedation, numbing and comfort - he is quite gentle and explained everything before hand. I am very happy with the results and the procedure. Would send anyone in my family to see him and his staff.

When asking his staff to explain the price increase they gave the explanation that my daughter's teeth were more impacted than my son's despite the surgical time being the same. Also, I was charged $450 for sedation that the oral surgeon monitors. Not sure why if the oral surgeon is getting paid for the surgery that I need to be charged separately for the sedation to the tune of $450. No additional people are needed to monitor yet an additional charge incurred. Double dipping for sure. I asked for an itemized receipt so I can compare with other oral surgeons in the area. Although we have insurance, if the total cost of the procedure increases then so does the copay. We all should be asking the prices as currently the insurance company is driving the market not the consumer.

Dr. Pokorny was very professional and informative about the procedure. The day of the surgery, the staff was very welcoming and professional. Dr. Pokorny came into the room and again reviewed the work that would be done. He had to draw some blood to pack the surgical site. His blood draw was better than most of the phlebotomists I have seen. Dr. Pokorny offered me the option to be under sedation, which I chose. Shortly after the blood draw, I was out. The surgery was done quickly. I went home and have had a quick recovery. Their office has prepared post-op instructions that are very detailed and informative to help with a speedy recovery. Dr. Pokorny followed up with a phone call later that evening to make sure everything was ok. He is a very reassuring and professional doctor. I highly recommend this office. I would not want to go anywhere else.

I had my initial consultation around a year ago just to see what needed to be done and how the process worked, and about 8 or 9 months later I called back to schedule my appointment and because of when I scheduled it, it hit right in the middle of coronavirus so it got pushed back for 5 additional months unfortunately. At this point they were causing me serious pain that I hadn't previously had so the wait was just getting worse day by day and they kept pushing it back. During my initial visit we went over the treatment plan, cost and everything associated with it so I should just have to schedule my appointment and be ready, but no... They require FULL payment up front on day of surgery which normally is fine BUT they require a predetermination from your insurance, they won't take your insurance and say they assume they'll pay this amount so you owe us $xx today, they need 30 days to call your insurance before your surgery to see what they will pay and then you pay your leftover payment on your day of surgery and in my initial visit they did a predetermination with my insurance but later on I found out it was only good for 30 days and they wouldn't do another one unless I came in for another exam before my surgery, so not only was my surgery pushed back 5 months they wanted me to wait another month for an exam then another month for the predetermination and probably another month for the next available appointment instead of just doing the predetermination in the beginning when I made the appointment 5 months ago they waited until a week before my surgery date to tell me this, and I had to have another exam because they said my last one was outdated and things can change in a year and while I don't doubt that, I got charged on my surgery bill for 2 exams that insurance doesn't cover and 2 x rays that insurance doesn't cover so it was just more out of pocket for me that wasn't due to my fault which is SUPER frustrating. I found Rochester OMS through other reviews and had an initial consultation with Dr. Sonpal and liked her, which is the only reason I kept dealing with this to get my surgery done. My dentist recommended I go elsewhere to get them out. My wisdom teeth were impacted and coming in side ways and my dentist said I needed them removed soon because the veins could start getting around the wisdom teeth and I could lose feeling in my jaw if I wait too long to pull them, the doctor said that was a little dramatic but accurate. My doctor was Dr. KATHRYN SONPAL and she was very nice. I spent little time with her but when she was with me she answered any questions or concerns I had and walked/talked me through the process. I'm a few days post-op now and I expected much worse, its just extremely sore with the pain medication and without the pain medication it is very uncomfortable. The surgery itself went quick and I was put under anesthetic. When I woke up I was in a lot of pain and they only had a Motrin 600 to give me which didn't really do much for me. They also gave me a free tropical smoothie coupon, or in other words a $2,500 tropical smoothie. I like the doctor and everything is healing nicely but I wouldn't recommend this practice particularly for them waiting until last minute to tell me I have to either pay the bill myself up front next week and deal with my insurance reimbursing me or wait another 30 days and pay for another x ray and exam out of pocket too. Not cool.

I got all 4 wisdom teeth removed in one go, and it could not have gone better imo. I basically had no pain afterwards, but made sure to follow their care instructions they had provided. The consultation is the tough part, they're usually booked up, but once you get through that, they have plenty of dates for the actual surgery. The entire staff was very sweet, and got things done pretty quickly. I really appreciated two things - that they went through everything with you, and that they are very professional and do things quickly so you aren't stuck waiting too long. I really loved that during the consultation and after the surgery, they went over everything, so I wasn't worried at home. It's also super convenient that when you call, they have an extension just for pre- and post-op questions. I left a message once and they got back to me within a few hours. Cannot recommend them enough, can't explain what a relief it was to have such a phenomenal experience!

Our family has been looking all over the place for a good, solid Dental experience!…read more Most importantly, we want a dentist that doesn't over-treat! Our last dentist, while talented, friendly and professional, was all about lining his pockets. He tried to sell me and my children all kinds of extra work we didn't need, as well as Invisalign and whitening. My husband has extremely strong, healthy teeth. He never needs any extra work. But our LAST dentist, on his first visit, told my husband that he had 14 cavities!!! He has never had a cavity in his life. The professionals at Great expectations were friendly, attentive, skilled and experienced. When my husband went, they cleaned his teeth, friendly and professionally, took x-rays and a doctors exam and sent him on his way. No up-selling. No unnecessary work recommendations.

I am not an old washed up idiot like Vicki- I understand how doctors work. When I spoke to Loretta the office manager she said "yeah she's like that" Again- weird and inappropriate. When I received my trays I received zero instructions regarding the treatment or care - LITERALLY A BOX OF TRAYS I didnt reach out to the office - BECAUSE WHY WOULD I? When I discussed the lack of competence in the office to my dentist at the TROY location - she was shocked. I've been unable to wear my invisalign due to a neurological condition I've been dealing with, something I explained to the ortho, as well as LORETTA. Rather than reaching out in any way to get back into the office to discuss my care I received a letter saying my care would be ending ... WHY AM I RECEIVING A THREATENING LETTER ABOUT ENDING MY CARE? Ok so I've been seeing Doctor Solverson for over 20 years. Let me tell you his father was a great…read moredentist but he is a money grubbing you know what!! I got a few cavitities filled and was told by his office staff that my co-pay was $80 which I paid the day the work was done. Later I got a bill for $160...three times the amount they quoted me!! When I talked to the rude woman in the office for the first time she said that the office doesn't follow my insurance's payment plan. Why that wasn't disclosed to me I don't know and I certainly did not understand how the co-pay they told me was only a third of what they really were going to charge. Anyway, things got crazy at work and being on 14 hour days with literally not even a lunch break did not leave me much time to deal with it...that's my fault I know. They called me a few times and I missed the call but when I did get back in touch with them the girl I talked to this time wasn't helpfull either. I made it pretty clear that I wanted to just get this resolved but I did not agree to pay the entire charge when the office was so far off on quoting me what the work would cost me. After a few minutes of getting nowhere I said I'd write a letter to the Dentist and she said snydly "ok if that's what you wanna do". I found out later that the dentist doesn't get involved in the finaces with the patiends and he has an office manager that the girl should have forwarded me to but she didn't suggest that. So I wrote the letter. I just said I really didn't understand why his office didn't figure out before hand that they don't "follow my insurances payment plan" as the first girl had told me. I let him know that I felt his office had dropped the ball and asked if he would he possibly consider settling the bill for a lesser amount. It was clear that I really just wanted to get to someone who could answer that question so we could all resolve this and move on. A few weeks passed and no responce. Then one day a process server comes to my door. I wasn't home so he knocked on my neighbors door and asked if they knew where I was...as if I'm hiding from him like some criminal. It was early afternoon on a Wednesday so I was at work, shouldn't be hard to figure out. When I get home there's this note on my door from him saying he has to serve me legal documents and my neighbors asked what was up. How embarassing! The guy couldn't come back untill the next day and I spent the entire night up crying wondering what the heck was going on. It even caused me problems with my husband since I couldn't help but wonder if he was serving me surprise divorce papers. I just couldn't figure out who would want to sue me! So when the guys serves me the next day, turns out Solverson was sueing me for the $160 bill!! I called him immediately and left a message, he called me back and left me a message saying to talk to his office manager. The next day she got back to me and we went around for a while. She kept focusing on the fact that I had missed a few calls from them trying to collect the debt. I pointed out that I talked to them twice and sent a letter which was hard enough to find time for. I asked about the letter, she admitted that they got it and had put it in my file but never tried to contact me with a responce So what kind of person gets a letter from a patient who makes it clear they want to resolve a bill, and just ignores it and go sues the person?? She wouldn't answer that question so I asked to talk to Solverson. She said he wouldn't talk to me about it, he's too busy. I bet, too busy draining his patients pocket book! I told her I would pay the bill, that was never the issue and my two calls and letter should have been proof that I wanted to pay it but I wanted some answers first and no one cared to help me. At this point I don't care about the bill, I'll pay the whole thing. I'm really just upset with the poor integrity and buisness practice of this office.
