It's an act of faith when you entrust the life of a loved one to a stranger. Whether highly…read morerecommended by someone you trust, another doctor, or just someone you found on your insurers website, you put an enormous amount of faith in their hands. How do you take that leap of faith? How do you judge?
Or family doctor referred my wife to Dr. Michael Cardenas when she was diagnosed. Our first visit, turned into an impromptu biopsy session that proved very painful but necessary. During this visit and throughout the procedure, Dr. Cardenas explained everything slowly and completely, provided options, and most of all, provided us with the confidence that he would do his very best for my wife. It was this "bedside manner" that provided the peace of mind to take that step.
The procedure was flawless. Everything came back great. The follow ups have been a pleasure. Every time we see Dr. Cardenas, he provides us with that same level of calm, of peace of mind, that he displayed on our first visit. We trust him, and because we trust him, when I needed a surgery, he performed it.
As for the facilities, I have no complaints really. It's the Med Center. Avoid high traffic time appointments, if possible. The private lot, a pay lot, has always had spaces, and General Surgical Associates validates, so take you ticket with you into the office. Nobody likes paperwork, but expect to fill it out when you first visit, with updates annually. The office itself, is slightly dim, with ample seating, and the usual ubiquitous magazines. My wife and I have never waited more than about 10-15 minutes past our appointment time to be seen. The staff has always been courteous and accommodating.
Overall, I do not hesitate in recommending Dr. Michael Cardenas. And if the other doctors are anything like him, you could do no better than General Surgical Associates for your general surgery needs.
As an aside, when my wife was being prepped for her surgery, the head nurse getting her ready asked who our surgeon was. We replied, "Dr. Michael Cardenas." She looked at us, with a slight grin on her face and said, "Dr. Cardenas is great. I love that man. He saved my husbands life." She then proceeded to tell us her story. You can get no better endorsement than that, a seasoned head nurse telling you that your surgeon is the best. We're forever thankful.
