We don't see much, hear much, or have lots of interaction with schools administration and principals (not necessarily a bad thing, haha), and we had nothing but positive interactions with all other depts. of school. The Counselors are TOP-NOTCH! They are always accessible and very easy going and energetic. His teachers have mostly been quick to respond anytime we reach out about anything and very reasonable. The teaching here is very personal and unique and seems to grab our sons attention and keep him engaged. There will always be a sub-par teacher here or there, but you can tell the vibe at the school with teachers is a positive one for sure. He also participates in a number of extra activities including sports, which have really grown and been successful. The coaches and athletic director are also very responsive, outgoing, and professional. They know their stuff and we love working with them all the time. Especially now with the virus situation all schools have been dealt with, we are even more happy to be a part of this school. There was a seamless transition and extremely open, honest, and quick to lend a hand and be available all the time. This school was prepared for an on-line distance learning transition and our son has not lost a step or feels left behind. Overall, a GREAT school and we wouldn't trade it for any other. This school is garbage. My kids got physically and verbally abused and my mistake was to never report it to the police because I don't like the "slave patrol" but I should to keep records of everything they have failed me in. They offer Saturday school and if your child has missed a day attending Saturday school, which is only 4hours, it makes that day up. In Saturday school the children have options to do crafts, cooking, sewing, art, and other activities that they do not get to do in school. They are currently building a new office and classrooms the construction is coming along beautifully. The yard monitors are always supervising and helping the students. Kohl open school in Stockton, California…read more This school has been apart of my life for the last twelve years. My eldest daughter started to come to Kohl when she was in Kindergarten. She was here all the way till eighth grade. My Son started started the same grade kindergarten till the eighth grade. My baby girl is still here at Kohl and started just like her siblings at the Kindergarten level. We have so many beautiful memories here at this school. When they all were here . I would love to come and spend time with them during the after school program and have fun with them. My children never wanted to come home. All they wanted to do is play with their classmates. I can go on and make this review long. But I'll keep it simple. Here at Kohl, we always felt like being apart of one giant family. I was pretty close to all the teachers my children had and all of them are wonderful. I have to say that Bud West our Principle is one of the best If not the best Principles in SUSD.
