Cherry picking season runs from the first week of July to the first week of August, depending on the growing season. This summer, the Stellas were being sold at $2.25 per pound and the Rainers were $3.75 (cash only!). The other varieties they sell include Satin, Lapin, Early Yellow, Skeena, Stardust, Crystaline, and Staccato.

There were quite a few rules about not eating off the trees, only pick what you buy, etc., but we completely understand the need for such rules to reduce waste. We did our own picking of fruits, which were peaches and golden plums. Flowers, pumpkins and pears can also be picked up. The market itself has a full variety of BC fruits and vegetables, along with products made locally. Paynter's market is one of MANY orchards, farms and markets in the Okanagan valley which sells produce!! The ambiance is very nice and warm. It's nice to go to an orchard and pick your own fruits and vegetables, which can of course be eaten fresh, but used for other prepared dishes and preserves. Service at Paynter's is very professional and friendly, and very knowledgeable of local produce and items.

I received a few free samples, including BBQ sauce, dressing, and sausages. They were so delicious! I usually find other brand's sauces and dressings too tangy, but theirs were very mild, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care. I decided to purchase sausages, BBQ sauce, salad dressing, and vinaigrette. I've already decided to purchase their BBQ sauce, dressing, and sausages again. Their dessert sauces and other items look great too, so I'll definitely try different products on my next visit.
