The position of this hotel was excellent, just 5 minutes from San Samuele waterbus stop. The staff were wonderful- patient, knowledgeable, thoughtful and well informed. They tried to help whenever we had a query. Breakfast was more than adequate- it was possible to have a feast as the empty plates were replenished as soon as they became empty. A selection of croissants, fruit, meat, eggs, bread, cereal, jams, yogurts and cake made breakfast delightful.Decaffeinated coffee (ground, not instant) was available at breakfast together with a wide selection of teas. There was a coffee machine for other times which provided cheap,(70 cents) good coffee, tea and hot chocolate. the rooms were spotless and the addition of a fridge and air conditioning was a real plus. Eating breakfast outside in the courtyard was great and quiet despite the position of the hotel. The square round the corner ( San Stefano)had a selection of restaurants with reasonably priced tourist menus and an ice cream shop which was billed as the best in Venice by one of our guidebooks. This hotel was excellent value for money. The only addition we would have found useful is a safe in the rooms. Would we go back to Domus Ciliota? DEFINITELY read more
