At first I thought a restaurant at such prime location must be touristy, but it's in fact a local favorite that has been around since 1950. We were the only tourists in the dining room! And the locals, from the waitstaff to fellow diners, are all more than happy to share their culture and help explain the menu. Their menu is really extensive, and there is even a vegetarian section too, a rarity in Portugal.
We enjoyed a very delicious melon w prosciutto: the sweet fruit is a perfect complement to the savory ham, followed by carré de borrego, rack of lamb, that was perfectly done, tender inside and crispy outside, alone with some delightful sides. For dessert we follow our next door's neighbor advice and got the tiborna, a local specialty, a small gem of a cake wrapped in paper dollie and tied with a ribbon.
A wonderful experience through and through.
