It was a different concept to the tapas I'm used to in Spain, but I was NOT disappointed. You order your drink and the bartender chooses your tapa, but it's free!!! All the food was fabulous: tapas and actual food we ordered. I love the atmosphere too, rustic and amazing. Javier, the owner has great help and a back room for large groups. La Taperia is a decent place to sit and sip within a block of Plaza Mayor. Unlike the huge plaza restaurants with barkers trying to entice you in, La Taperia is small, on a semi-quiet side street and they do not need to hire anyone to stand outside trying to convince you to stop. We got there just before the lunch rush and we were glad we did since by the time we left every table was taken, inside and out, and the server was racing between tables trying to keep up. We ordered a simple salad, which came out not all that simple (see the photo). It was as tasty as it was huge. The tapa that came with our drinks was some sort of liver with chips. The liver looked too big to be chicken so we guessed it was pork or lamb. For us it was an acquired taste which unfortunately we did not acquire. We did enjoy ourselves enough that we tried to come back for a nightcap around 2300 but it was SRO in the bar so we decided to take a rain check. This is a very popular bar. One word of advice though...if you take a table outside during the day beware that birds flock to the trees above the tables and quite often drop extra seasoning on whatever is below...just a warning... read more

Super place for Tapas in Caceres, very close to the Plaza Mayor, tables outside. We ordered drinks and with them came the first freebie tapa, a splendid tortilla de patatas. We ordered the eggplant tempura with romescu sauce, excellent, after that potato salad, pescado a la plancha and more courtesy tapas, the bread was excellent and we were so happy we had to come the next morning to have a jamon Iberico breakfast, splendid.
