BOTTOM LINE: Affordable rooms and decent bar food.
I was taking the Ian Law Racing Winter Driving Course in Minden and need a place to stay so as to avoid the 2.5 hour drive in the morning. You don't have a lot of options in the winter time, and the Dominion was not only the closest to the driving course, but also the cheapest I could find - a huge plus.
The pub/dining/live music area is on the main floor and the handful of rooms are on the second. They seem to have regular live music acts and I think they won't let you rent out the rooms, presumably due to noise, but I'd have to check again.
The rooms themselves are fairly standard and functional, if not somewhat dreary. Nothing fancy though you do get a decent flat screen TV. It's not romantic so if that's what you're looking for, I'd recommend searching for some nearby BnB's instead.
The dining area is actually separated between the sit-down area and the pub area by a set of open doors. You can order your standard pub affair though they had a few more burgers than expected. I ordered their HELL OF A BURGER because it packs some heat with jalapeno peppers on peameal bacon. I was pleasantly surprised they had the genuine Sriracha sauce, instead of some imitation brand. Hmmm....Sriracha...There were also a few beers on tap, but mainly from the big brewers.
Located on the main strip, I suspect this place gets pretty packed on the weekends, and especially in the summer, though on a cold Friday night in the middle of winter, it was pretty quiet and was closed by 10. read more
