We interviewed a half dozen wedding photographers, and after a whirlwind experience I can confidently say that J & D are the most communicative and easy to work with. They have a can-do attitude and bring a low key sense of humor and enthusiasm to their projects. Everybody got along easily with them. Their equipment they use gave them a lot of options for getting great shots, they knew when to take advantage of good lighting, and they were SO kind about the few time they asked us to pose in the moment--a quick, "hey look over here!". Those quick and easy moments all paid off ... now that we have the shots we can see why they went for it. Like many other reviewers, when looking for a photographer, we wanted an approach that was more journalistic, but still had an editorial bent. In other words, we didn't want a ton of posed photos, but instead wanted moments captured in a beautiful, subtle, and elegant way. I came across a photo that Jaime took of a row of grandparents laughing, and knew almost right then and there that I would want to work with them. I loved the process of talking and even negotiating with Jaime and Dennis. From the get go, they were interested in who we are, our lives, and what we wanted out of our photographs. I got the sense that they don't take cookie-cutter approaches to wedding photography, and love that philosophy. They both worked with us to come up with a package that fit our budget and made sense for everyone, always being extremely responsive and professional. On our wedding weekend, Dennis and Jaime were phenomenal. They blended in seamlessly with our guests and vendors, would get into any position for great photos (at some point I was scared Dennis was going to fall off a cliff), and cared enough in the flow of the day to not take us away from the party for too long, yet long enough so that we got beautiful shots. Beyond that, Jaime actually was extraordinary in helping with little things, like when the train of my dress got dirty from walking on the street - she had all sorts of ideas on how we could get the marks out, and went out of her way to do so. You'd never know that we were all dying of the heat in the photos. We look fresh as daisies. He is very, very professional, but has a warm personality, which made me very comfortable. For the posed shots, he was very good. But I think he truly excelled at doing exactly what I had asked for: candids of *everyone* at the wedding. He managed that for 75 people within 5 hours. I was over the moon when I viewed the photos. He also shot my friend's wedding, and she had a different mission to set him on. She asked him to do edgy shots, gave him some examples of photos, talked to him about what she was looking for. He produced many amazing shots of the couple in downtown San Francisco. They were also happy with their photos, by the way. I think Charlie's ability to listen to you and shoot what you want is exactly what you want in a wedding photographer. Pricing for our package was about $2000, which is super reasonable for the quality of the work.

Even when someone did talk about how amaaaaazing their photographer was, I got the feeling they were just riding their post-wedding high and would have recommended their photograper even if he/she had just walked around with a disposable camera all night. Well fear not fellow Yelpers - my wedding was only a week ago so I have not even received my wedding photos yet. So why reveiw you ask? Well not only were our Engagement photos the most amazing shots of us we had ever seen - but I wanted to leave a review about the EXPERIENCE you will have with Nancy and Ron as well as the photos you will receive. With Nancy and Ron, it is NOT just about taking pictures. Your initial consultation will take place at their beutiful home/studio in Sebastopol. We were nervous and anxious when we met them for the first time, we planned on meeting with several photograhers before making a decision. Not only did we immediately take to Nancy and Ron but we realized right away that when you hire them, you get BOTH of them. This would prove incredibly important as they (being husband and wife) work seamlessly and each bring their own perspective, experience and energy whenever they are working. I can't say enough about their dynamic, it's very difficult to imagine having a single photographer with a single perspective after working with them. After a lengthly consultation with them and having ALL of our questions answered and nerves calmed, we hired them and didn't look back. Our engagement photo session was amazing. They spent almost THREE hours with us on their beautiful property which is an incredible backdrop for any photos but especially engagement. Nancy was constantly checking my wife's hair, jewelery and outfit, adjusting my stance, etc. etc. all in between shooting. Meanwhile, Ron is checking the lighting, suggesting poses and ideas for the scene and also shooting in between. Seeing them work (espeically when you are the subject) is incredible - the service they provide is much more than just snapping the pictures. When we received our Engagement photos (they have you back to their studio and you view your photos on a huge screen TV, selecting the ones you like) we were blown away. Can we say "cover of a magazine"?? Well that's how I felt the photos looked and I'm someone who HATES being photographed. I simply could not believe how we both appeared in each shot, what we received was truly remarkable work. A couple weeks before our wedding, we were invited back for some pre-wedding planning. Nancy and Ron had us go through our plans for the big day and they literally broke THEIR planning into 15 minute increments for th entire day. And here's the thing - Nancy and Ron are not only Photographers, they are wedding advisors. They helped us avoid some common wedding day mistakes, gave us advice (not only related to photography) and REALLY helped us feel like we were prepared and organized for the day. The day of the wedding was amazing with Nancy and Ron. Not only did they buzz around seamlessly (as my Wife got ready with her bridesmaids, Nancy photographed them - meanwhile, I was hanging out with my Dad and Best Man and Ron photographed us getting ready and playing guitar. It was SO awesome having a photographer with each of us!) but they HAVE FUN! I mean they are clearly enjoying themselves, interacting with guests, and not skipping a beat. Seriously, they must be the hardest working photographers I've ever seen but yet they are really enjoying themselves in the process. At one point when it was time to cut the cake, our site coordinator was nowhere to be found. My Wife and I had no idea how to start cutting the cake or what to do and started frantically looking around for our coordinator. Ron immediately noticed, walked up to us and thecake and handed us the cake knife while showing us where to start cutting on the cake (all while Nancy continued shooting). Saved by the photographer!! That's the kind of little stuff that their experience and awareness really makes possible. I'll end with this - I thought the pricing structures were reasonable from the start - but once I saw the work they do and the effort and enthusiasm they invest, I would consider their rates a downright BARGAIN. Most importantly when it comes to the money part is they have MANY different packages to fit any budget. I took the time to type all of this because I am truly grateful for the quality of services we received from Nancy and Ron and I hope this helps someone else make the same "best ever" type decision we did!

Of all the portfolios we looked at (and we looked at MANY), Anne-Claire's was the only one that fit the style and attention to detail we were looking for, and working with her did not disappoint. All of our photos came out STUNNING, and she made absolute magic out of our couple portraits, which had to be taken entirely indoors due to the pouring rain the night of our wedding. I recently worked with Karen for a boudoir shoot in her new studio on 2nd Street in Santa Rosa and…read morewas delighted to see the results! Although there was a little confusion about the start time (and checking my contract, the date was mentioned, but the time wasn't specified), I was relieved to find that she was able to accomodate me, although I arrived late that day. Hair and make-up was done in keeping with my preference for minimal variation from my normal, no frills look. I also specified that I was hoping to avoid retouching of my skin coloration and imperfections, as I want images that document my age, rather than disguising them. She was quite open to me bringing my own wardrobe items and there was a dress I've always wanted to get photographs in, since it was a gift and I've never gotten full-length images of me wearing it, despite owning it for a number of years now. I was also curious about trying full nudes and had been hesitant to embark on such work with larger studios, but knowing it was going to be just Karen and me in the room for the photo shoot, I was brave enough to try those poses as well. Everything was done quite tastefully, she ensured I was comfortable and directed throughout the experience and the results speak for themselves. For obvious reasons, I'm only including the fully dressed images, but all of the pictures I've received are beautiful. There's about a week between the photo shoot and the date that you need to return to view your photos, so I made two visits to town, which certainly wasn't an inconvenience, since I only live about 20 minutes away, but worth knowing for those considering a longer drive. She was able to work out a payment plan for my images. Which I am thankful for! I received my boxed set and digital images after paying off the package. My guy was surprised by them. She also does fun get togethers for a local charity and also other fun events once you are in the group. Strongly suggest for other women who want to feel badass for themselves or for someone special.
