He asked how we wanted to move forward and I said please prepare a quote to which he responded "I don't do that, I can give you a ballpark and if your serious I can be more detailed once you want to move forward". I responded in surprise so what what is your 90% ballpark estimate as we discussed (understanding minor adjustments and design changes can change cost as well as materials prices). His response was 30k so I asked he email me it as we discussed to confirm the size and design and again he said I don't do that and if you want to move forward we can get more detailed. I asked him directly " am I detecting an attitude in your responses as my desire is to make sure we are on the same page. If I can't get the estimating person to provide a basic estimate to build off with out a tone that I should just agree and hand him my cash is unacceptable. A basic estimate would have taken him maybe 15 minutes and would lay out timelines, payment schedule and clarification on what the 30k provides is not to much to expect. Under no conditions would I agree to any work where I get a fraction of my desires addressed / confirmed understanding and then be spoken to like "agree to us doing it then we can address your questions with a condescending tone. I thanked him and walked him to his vehicle. I called the office and explained my dissatisfaction and refuse to use a company that the sales person can not keep his frustration in check and forgot I am the one paying for the project and not some guy on the street that was interfering with his day. Attitude and respect sets the stage and if providing a quote is an annoyance, then don't advertise a free quote (perhaps the old saying you you get what you pay for is true, I paid noting and got my money's worth). I would prefer to pay for an estimate fee and feel my desires were heard and understood as I make my decision. George

I generally leave positive, generous reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others…read more In the last five years, we've completed over a dozen major construction projects across two properties. This is the first time we seriously considered terminating a contractor mid-project. Communication was consistently poor, the project schedule and material ordering were severely mismanaged, and the crew showed up only six days over an almost two month period in the summer when the majority of work should have been completed, contributing to turning what should have been a three month job into a six month project. Job-site cleanup was not maintained, significant errors were made, and there was resistance and defensiveness when those mistakes needed to be corrected. Rather than taking accountability, the company disputed issues that were clearly the result of their own lack of oversight and execution. Overall, the level of service, organization, and workmanship fell far below what we've experienced with other contractors and what you would expect at this price point.

Camilo had the idea of putting in new concrete foundations right next to the original posts and then inserting new 6 x 6 pressure-treated posts under the deck right next to the old ones and bolting them together. This was a very strong and economical solution. Good work and good value.

We contracted Rock Hill Decks for some minor deck repair and painting. The crew that we eneded up…read morenegotiating with was through DylanBuilders, LLC. I assume these are subcontractors of Rock Hill decks as the gentlemen we dealt with stated this was his own company. USE CAUTION if you choose this route. The gentlemen we dealt with was nice and polite, but quotes were extraordinarily vague. The materials cost ended up being 3x more than quoted (originally 4 times more, but there was so much overpurchased material we took it back for a refund, thankfully). The craftsmanship was sub-par, especially for a licensed deck specialist, and the paint work was extremely rushed and "slapped on" with entire sections left untouched. After agreeing to pay half up front and the remainder upon project completion were we continuously harrased about paying more and more money to "keep them going". When we stated the agreed upon terms, the gentlemen became irrate and irrational.....still demanding payment for incomplete work. Unfortunately, this was not resolvable as the gentlemen felt it was better to insult me vs. discussing resolution for the incomplete work. This left us terminating the contract in an incomplete state. To the owner of Rock HIll Decks - if these are subcontractors of yours please know that this is directed at our experience with them (Dylan Builders LLC) and unfornately this experience is tied to your business. I truly wish I could state differently, but this was a bad experience leaving our deck in worse shape than before the project and now I have additional work to make things right. Under the circumstances I do not recommend this company.

After meeting with a Stonehaven sales representative, we made a deposit for half of the estimated project cost on September 9, 2022. On October 11, 2022 we reached out to the office as we had not heard from anyone at Stonehaven. We had not been given a Project Manager or received any communication on the project. Office staff indicated that she would speak to the owner and we would get a call back. We made 7 additional calls requesting to speak with the owner. We were told the owner was busy, sick, working on other projects etc. October 29, 2022 Chris Chambers returned our calls. He stated that he had not looked at our project file. During the call Chris did not listen to our concerns about the lack of communication from Stonehaven, or that our project had not begun and no materials had been ordered. Chris did not acknowledge any company shortcomings. We signed a carbon copy paper, agreeing to the estimates for a remodel and gave a deposit. No one at any time reviewed or discussed contract stipulations. At our request to cancel the contract prior to the commencement of work on the project, ordering appropriate supplies or preparation for the project by Stonehaven, Chris indicated that he would be deducting 10% of the quoted cost of the remodel. In the end, Chris kept a portion of our deposit in the sum of $1,628.71 and justified his actions by saying that he had paid his staff commissions and to cover administrative fees for our project that never started, no work was done and no materials were ordered. There is no way we could recommend working with Stonehaven Remodeling.

I always wanted a back yard putting green but was concerned that the upkeep of real grass would be…read moretoo much of a burden and most synthetic grasses would feel (well you guessed it) fake. I had imagined that the cost of putting in the really good stuff would be prohibitive so getting a putting green was relegated to my bucket list along with playing golf with Tiger Woods, climbing Mt. Everest, having a cup of coffee with George Bush and a few other such items The idiom "it's an ill wind that blows no good" took on a literal meaning for us recently as we faced the devastation wrought by hurricane Florence. Like many in coastal North Carolina, damages to our home were covered by insurance but not our landscape. That's where we took the biggest hit. The quotes we got for replacing what could be replaced were costly and would require a lot of hard work on our part. Even so it in no way restore the landscape to what it was. Only years of tender loving care as rendered by my wife to the flower gardens, shrubs, trellises, dwarf trees, etc. could do that. That's where the "bucket list" and the "ill wind" joined forces. I was reviewing quotes when the thought of the back yard putting green popped into my head. I did a little research on the improvement in synthetic grass. I went on line to get a better idea on pricing. I had heard Hank Haney talk about "Celebrity Greens" Their web site stated that they had installed greens for many in the golf profession. I thought, if they were satisfying some of the most demanding in the golf industry, the product must be good. But, could I afford it? I sent them my contact info. to find out. To my surprise I got a call from Weston Weber, the company founder. Among many interesting things about the golf industry, we discussed the practicality and affordability of my "bucket list" green. He told me that he was adding an installation company to his team and that the completion of their training could work very well with my schedule and he would have them get in touch with me. (Bucket List! Price!) Sure enough, I got a follow up call from Scott Fairman, the owner of Scott's Turf in Charlotte. We agreed on the scope of the project and price. A month later we now are looking at the finished product. It is beautiful. Scott and his team (And I do mean team) are professionals. Celebrity Greens supported Scott's team with Mark Phillips, one of the best installers in the country. The landscaping is beautiful and the jewel in the middle of it all is this undulating, 11.5 rolling, fringed green with supporting chipping areas. The cost of all of it was about the same as what restoring the landscape to what it was before the storm. The smartest move I made was allowing Scott the freedom to create the landscape as he visualized it, rather than me dreaming up something. He created a gem. Oh, and about the tender loving care part, maintenance is minimal and that is a good thing, because now my wife is too busy for that. She is stroking 5', left to right, down hillers, the only thing keeping her from getting back into single digits now that she has so much free time. I even give it a try myself regretting why I waited so long. Thank you, Celebrity Greens, for a great product and Scott's Turf for a great installation. 5 Stars and then some. Mike and Peg Cahill
