If you are sick of buying Steins and Teddy Bears in Lederhosen for your friends overseas (or yourself), this is the place to go. They have some real treasures about Bavarian history and culture, even in the Bavarian dialect, but no touristy rubbish.
I buy all my presents for overseas friends here. Right behind the amazing Dome in the centre of town, but never too busy. You get excellent visitor's guides to Germany and Bavaria in several languages - not as many as in the big stores, but always the ones you need (in my experience at least).
Being a Catholic book store, it is chockablock with spiritual literature, theology books but also a brilliant Children's section that has some rare items (not just for the religiously inclined). It also has an incredible selection of beautiful jewellery, Rosaries and stuff like that - just pop upstairs at the back to have a look - I have not seen some of those things sold anywhere else. read more
