I'm very confident the apple strudel served here is the same apple strudel served in heaven. With 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream.

Café blumen - Blumenkohl Panini, Mandelkuchen, Chai Latte

Very cozy coffee shop. I really liked the patio seating by the fountain outside but the inside has…read morecomfy chairs and pillows. They can do table service if you dine in but you can also just order and pay at the counter. It seems very popular with the hipster crowd but based on my experience it can be a welcoming place for anyone. The two baristas were both cheerful and patient with my not-good German. The menu is very vegan friendly - there are vegan options for sandwiches and baked goods, and there's oat milk for drinks. I got a Blumenkohl panini, a Mandelkuchen, and a Chai Latte. I was a fan of the panini, the smashed cauliflower in was actually very flavourful with curry-esque spices. No complaints on the latte. The Mandelkuchen fell short of my expectations, I thought it was on the dry side, although the strong almond flavour was nice. If I had been able to see a cross section of this before I ordered, I would've gotten something else - the cake hadn't been cut into yet when I ordered. The other cake slices looked better. Everything is priced reasonably - my total was about €14. It's the kind of place I'd probably go to all the time if I lived here.

I had already marked this place off as a place to grab something to eat, however it quickly turned out that they don't do breakfast - it is basically a coffee shop that has some cakes but that is about it. The other problem is that it is located on the fringes of the city. Still, it is a nice cafe, and there is a really cool church nearby as well. Oh, and the staff, and coffee, were nice as well.

Their flat white was smooth and perfectly balanced. The milk was velvety and I wish I hadn't gotten take away and walked away or I would have ordered another. I am so happy to see places like this popping up. I, personally, take insult to when sugar is put in coffee (sorry Deutschlanders), but most coffee in this country needs sugar or something to help it. It is rare that I find places like this that offer such an ideal espresso that it does not need sugar. Take mind, I will NEVER go to a place where I'd need to put sugar in my coffee because that is a surefire indicator that the coffee sucks. But then again, I was a barista in Scandinavia for quite some time years ago so I am a bit of a coffee snob. No sugar needed at Kaffeekommune. The best thing about this place is that it embraces simplicity and the products they sell. They won't serve a subpar product. They also offer efficient and kind customer service. At night from Thursday on throughout the week, this place turns into a craft beer bar. Kaffeekommune- please come to Frankfurt!!!
