I've been a customer of Arlene's for over l5 yrs, and have had excellent work done on my dolls, and she has always taken care of them in a quick and efficient manner. We took 3 dolls to her studio, one needed something done with her mohair wig, since, it was messy even though in ringlets, and the front side curls, were less curled, then the rest of her hair, so I had faith that she could do her magic, and make her look neat and presentable. Mohair is not suppose to be combed, (I know, only worked with the fingers,) I do not know about the washing or putting into curlers as she said, she was going to. I did not question her as I thought she is the professional. She was also supposed to string another doll for me. My Husband insisted on paying her half down. She gave my Husband a date as to when the dolls would be done. Near the date I called her to see if we could pick them up soon, and she wouldn't give me a date. I waited a while and called her back, and could only leave a message. Days and days went by and she didn't call back. After week's she picked up the phone and I went to get my Dolls. My doll's hair had completely been ruined, it was not in ringlets, but had been combed out into a rug. She said I know you wanted it in ringlets, but it wouldn't curl. She had told me on phone the wig was in rollers, too. The other doll she restrung, she only restrung the arms and head, not the legs, as agreed on, and I needed her. While using her restroom she went and charged my Husband full price for demolishing the wig, and only stringing half of my other doll. While driving away I asked my Husband if she had charged us full charge, and was shocked when I found out she had. I Figured she wouldn't have charged us anything for the wig, and like two other doll repair ladies said,she should have replaced the wig. I called her on the phone when I got back because I was so upset about the wig. That's when she told me, she never even curled the doll's wig ???????? Let alone cleaned it as she said she was going to. I'm sorry Arlene,but I think you have really flipped your wig, this time. I can't understand why you would do this to a long time good customer, but you did. I had to write her many many letters just to get her to pay for the wig she destroyed. I had to buy a new wig for an antique doll. If you leave a doll with her I wish you luck. read more
