They were able to get me in quickly and I will say as far as doing fun stuff to your hair, this is…read morethe place you want it done. I've lived in LA, Nashville and Dallas before moving to Iowa, and the salon is something I would have expected from a larger metro area as far as capabilities, atmosphere, and whimsy. I had my hair touched up with a single color and trimmed as I am growing out a shorter bob. The hair turned out a little more red than I hoped, but knowing red often fades quickly, I went on my family vacation thinking it would be more auburn/brown when I got home. Over the next two weeks, the red in my hair did fade, but I had hot roots, so my new growth that was colored over was almost orange. The day after I returned, I sent a picture of my roots explaining the situation. At first I was told it would be $100 to fix (they do have a 7 day guarantee, and yes, I had been away for 2 weeks). When double checking, stating it was only my roots, they said they would be able to do it for $50. I understand color is expensive (as is time, overhead, etc.), but after paying the initial cost for a cut/color (way more than I expected for Iowa...definitely what I paid in LA/Nashville), I just couldn't justify it. I went to Walgreens and bought Clariol Root Touch Up (I have not touched a box of home hair color in 15 years) and used it at home and it totally toned out the hot roots and blended it perfectly with the rest of my dark auburn hair. Total cost: $9 and about 15 minutes of my time. I have received tons of compliments on my cut-it really works well with my wavy hair as it grows out, so I am debating whether or not to return. You do get what you pay for, and I am completely for supporting local businesses and young entrepreneurs. However, I do have a slightly bad taste in my mouth in regard to the cost for the area for basic hair services. I guess time will tell.

The salon itself is beautiful and I love the funky art and the whole vibe of the place! However, I feel like I need to be honest for those looking to other reviews when choosing a salon for their next service, because I would want to know this before making an appointment - this salon is incredible, maybe one of the best in all of Cedar Rapids, but man alive they can be expensive. They're a little vague about their prices - everything starts at a reasonable price range (newer stylists?) but then there's a plus sign to which it seems there's no end. I'm not upset that I had to pay so much and I know I'll return, I guess I just wish they'd be upfront about how much the services will cost without me having to sheepishly ask... even just asking if there's a budget you need to stay within or having the receptionist confirm prices when the appointment is made would be so nice! I know from my experiences, Jess made it so exciting to be there and get made over that it was impossible to remember to tap the brakes to then embarrassingly ask about costs involved. Anyway, you get what you pay for, and I love my look, but my last 2 visits were the most I've paid for my hair at any salon, ever, even at some pretty freakin' incredible salons in the past (NOT in Iowa!). I love it here so we'll just have to rearrange our budget and maybe I'll get my hair done 3-4 times a year versus every 6-8 weeks.

I am having to settle for a cut that is "close" to what I used to get from Amber. Please visit this salon, they truly do great things for your hair and for your esteem. I was a little disappointed with my nail color (it looked more blue in the guide and came out more white/gray... so she chose for my toes and I love it!) -- she gave me an amazing massage while receiving the pedi.. and even though they were swamped I was in and out of there probably within an hour. They really have an efficiency about them and they all work together to keep clients moving. Reasonably priced with exceptional customer care. The vibe is so friendly and welcoming.. also clean. I started with just a simple cut I was desperate. I told her about my past and how my hair is the most important aspect because of self confidence. The third time I came in she said we could start small if I wanted. I was confident to trust her and a little nervous but every step of the way she made me feel heard and supported. A lot stylists just want you in and and out and hardly even talk to you. When Jen does my hair we have amazing conversations and it always feels like you're just hanging with a friend! We started with an overall evened out brown and caramel lights and I was blown away. I felt so confident and beautiful. JEN did that. Now for my second coloring I wanted to be a bit bold and do a cowboy copper. I was scared and thought about backing out several times. I text with her to see if she felt it would match my complexion and she made me feel really good about my decision. BAM! yet again she made it look amazing. Another great set of conversations and if you constantly look at someone for their past how do you expect them to change? Jen has put in hard work and the best part of it is if you don't like her move on to someone else. Personally I will be staying put. I have never been happier with the services she provides and I never feel like she jips me or rips me off. She does hair at such a reasonable cost along with styling and a cut. Where some places would probably charge double! I am very lucky to have found jen and if you take a leap of faith you'll love her as much as I do! These posts aren't coming out of nowhere they are coming out of support for someone who truly loves what she does. Love you Jen!!

But now, I moved to Iowa and I had no idea who a good hair stylist was or what salon I should go to. Then, my friend introduced me to one of her friends who had recently had her hair done. I loved the color, so I asked her who her stylist was and she turned me on to Abbie Scriller at Muse Salon. I called her and got an appointment for the following week. She scheduled me later in the evening around 6:00pm. Abbie colored, highlighted, and cut my hair. I was very happy with the results. My hair came out looking exactly like what I wanted and hoped for. I have received numerous compliments on my hair since then, even from perfect strangers. Muse is a new, modern, upscale salon that has a very vibrant and energetic vibe. The building itself gives off a feeling of an industrial warehouse with the high ceilings and exposed pipes. Everyone who was still there when I arrived were all friendly and welcoming, I was asked if I could patiently wait for Abbie to finish up with her last client. I was offered a beverage while I waited. Exactly what I would expect from a luxurious full service salon. Even though I refused bc I had brought in my own, I was pleased that they offered. I had to remove a star because I ended up waiting for nearly an hour! Granted I did arrive 15 minutes early. I didn't want to be late bc she was starting so late as it was. I wanted her to be able to get started on me right away. I live a good 35 minutes away from MUSE. If I had known she was running late, I would have left my home later. I highly recommend going to check out this salon. Ask for Abbie Scriller. She is a native born and raised in Springville mom who is ready to take on new clients. And tell her that Norma I. referred you. She will give both you and me a 20% discount for the referral!! Every little bit helps, right? I found her prices to be reasonable and she does fabulous work! I am sure you won't be disappointed!
