I really wanted to love Dirt Cheap, but it turned out to be something out of my recurring stress…read moredreams. The shelves were enough to stress me out. They were horribly disorganized and desperately needed to be cleaned out. While I found some hidden gems amongst the rubble, I was mostly bombarded with broken items that should have been thrown out or recycled. There are lots of boxes of Amazon, Target, and Walmart returns to sift through. Be sure to bring a pocketknife otherwise it will be difficult to open the boxes that are still taped shut. Don't plan on stopping by the bathrooms while you are here. When I visited, the bathroom smelled horrible, both toilets were clogged, and neither stalls had toilet paper. I'm not really surprised by the state of the bathrooms as the employees seemed to mostly be standing around chatting with one another. Only 2 registers were open, while 5 other employees stood at the front of the registers goofing off as the lines at the register got longer and longer. It took almost 35 minutes for me to check out. If you are patient and willing to dig, you might be able to find some gems. I found a few decor pieces that were in good shape and reasonably priced. However, be prepared to dig through an avalanche of junk and wait for a while to check out. Things could likely be improved with the introduction of efficiency amongst employees, but I suppose you get what you pay for.

Deleted the App, because it was useless. Clothes used to be marked w a letter and discount was posted on hanging charts. Now just marked w prices and no discounts. Some clothing is ridiculously marked. Sad. Deserves 1 star, but the second star is for employee "effort".

This place really put a dent in my thrifting hobby with their Greed. I've heard the rumors about…read moreGREEDwill, now I can confirm. One of the things I enjoy buying are old books. It's like owning a piece of history and I enjoy seeing how language has changed over the years. I could go on... As I was checking out yesterday evening, the lady stopped scanning my items and grabbed my book. She kept saying wow, wow, when looking at it. It wasn't a fascination wow but an upset wow. I asked her is something wrong? She opened the book to see when it was published. It showed 1955. She said she wasn't supposed to sale me this book. It was supposed to have gone to Ecom for pricing. Anything before 1970 has to go to Ecom she said. I don't know what Ecom is but I believe it's to sale for big bucks on their auction website and not in-person. I asked are you going to sale me the book? It shouldn't be out with the other books if I can't buy it. The guy behind the counter told her to sale it to me. I was annoyed. I told them both this experience has taken the fun out of finding old books and thrifting. They didn't care. She was so upset because I found an old book and had to sale it to me. I can say this much it wasn't worth much. Than she had the nerve to ask me to round up. I said, are you serious? No way. You can send my donation to Ecom whatever that is. I feel this place is no longer a place to find fun stuff but more of a place for drop off donations only so the best stuff can be sold online at auction for big prices and what's left goes on the floor. Why are they a non profit? This ordeal confirmed the rumors for me are true. This stuff is donated and I repeat donated! They don't pay for their inventory. To act like this over a two dollar book? I'm done giving them my business and I will be sharing my story about this situation with others. If you donate old books, please give to the our house thrift store in North Little Rock or happy grey in Sherwood. Both of these places don't pull this greed and give back. Again, I don't get how this company claims to be a non profit. That status should be taken away. It's a front and whoever issues these non profit status should look into the horror stories. So many out there. The changing lives bit is a joke. I have seen shirts here for over 10 bucks that were not name brand. Walmart is cheaper and they are brand new. Too many horror stories out there and this experience just opened my eyes. I never believe rumors until I see it for myself and I can say not only have I seen it but experienced it at checkout. Thanks Goodwill NLR for opening my eyes!
