I know, a lot of people look down their noses at dollar stores. Not me. When I'm in a great dollar…read morestore I can spend hours (OK, maybe minutes) wandering up and down the aisles, looking at Stuff. Such plastic! Such crud! Such bargains! Well, this dollar store is definitely one of the best. It is head and shoulders above the ones over in Monticello, I assure you. This one has got great stuff. It has got frozen food! Yes, actual frozen food. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, dollar-store look-down-er. So if you're in Honesdale to go to the Wal-Mart or Home Depot, or to eat German food at one of the Central European restaurants that I've never been in, by all means drop by the Dollar General. A feast of buying awaits. There are frying pans almost as good as the ones in Wal-Mart, and slightly cheaper! There is stationery. There are pens. There is glue. Good glue. There is plastic. There is stuff made in China and other countries, all utilizing the finest in child slave labor. Next door is a movie theater that isn't very busy. Go here before grabbing one of the crummy movies they show there. The owner of that theater doesn't have very good taste, so why should you?

Today they overcharged me $17 for sale items. And if you complain? You get a bad attitude. Several of the workers are so unfriendly, it's intimidating to even go in there. Unfortunately there's not much else in the area. The store hasn't been updated since the '70s. The belt on the register has been broken for years, with a big sign that you need to push your own groceries. Several of the employees sit on a stool at the register and do nothing to help you. You're better off going to Walmart in Honesdale, 15 minutes away

I understand they are a small independent store and do not have the buying power of larger chains,…read morebut they are an IGA and are way overpriced compared to other IGAs. Their cold cuts often go bad within a few days and on a few occasions, the deli ham was rancid as soon as I got it home with an overwhelming stink from the package once i opened it. They did make good on it and gave me my money back. I've also had the same problem buying their pork and chicken. .. another problem is since covid they are wrapping up their breads in cellophane. As a result The Bagels and Club Rolls not only have a strange consistency but always seem to be stale. The good thing is though, they do employee quite a few locals in an area where there really isn't much of anything except the new gentrified stores and boutiques being open by the rich idiots coming in from the city and trying to take over the area.

When I first walked in, I went to the side of the store that has shoes and miscellaneous items. The floor in that section was noticeably dirty, and there was a damp smell in the air, which made me uncomfortable enough to move on quickly. The other side of the store was much better and had most of the clothing. They have a men's section and a women's section, along with racks labeled for certain brands. Some racks weren't labeled at all, so you really have to take your time and look through everything individually to find pieces that stand out to you. Toward the back of the women's side, there's a shoe area, plus a children's section, lingerie, and hosiery. There's definitely a lot to browse through if you're in the mood to hunt for deals. I ended up finding a T‑shirt, a top, some trouser socks, and a couple of men's ties. I didn't see a large amount that I personally wanted to purchase, but there were a few decent finds. The store attendant -- possibly the manager -- was extremely pleasant and gracious. They offered me 10% off my total since it was my first visit, which I really appreciated. Would I return? Possibly, but more for a few small pieces rather than a full shopping trip. It's the kind of store where you might find a gem if you're willing to sort through a lot of inventory.

I believe cheap Maggie's is a store where they purchase overstock products and sell them in their store for a discounted price. For example they had UGG shoes on sale for $59.99. I purchased a timberland belt for $17.99. My mother brought a three items and she was given a $10 discount on each item and she paid a total of $114.97 for three items. Overall, I'm assuming the prices are fair because they are cheaper than what you would purchase them for at the actual store that they come from. I saw items from stores like Lululemon, American Eagle, UGG, and Bloomingdale's. I feel like you could find some cute items here you just have to take the time to actually look through the racks. As for the sizing I felt like I saw a lot of smaller sizes. I saw some large sizes but not many XL. Also, I don't recall seeing any plus sizes.
